@CookenWithKilla Im a white man! but why does it annoy you so much if Jesus wasnt white? He was a Jew he was from the middle east! he wasnt black or white, he was somewhere inbetween. The shroud isn't the work of an artist. The man on the shroud was beaten, and then crucified; there was never another case of a man being beaten like that and then crucified after that beating. The chances it is Jesus on the shroud are very high, religion aside, we know he existed and we know what happened to him. This is amazing technology, and these doubters seem upset he's not white :/.

No other piece of cloth exists though out the world--for me that is proof enough along with the science, that this is the cloth that covered Jesus, and the burned image is the exact moment the reserection took place.
@TheKickerbabe1 I honestly never thought of the image getting burned in at the moment of resurrection! How cool! An extreme amount of light would do that I bet. Jesus is alive!
That is exactly how i thought he would look..honestly it's not even that incredibly revealing. Just very interesting. That really is the face of basically an ancient ethics teacher/philosopher. He has very soft facial features..kinda cool and comforting.
Believing if Jesus was "divine" or not is a mute point to me, the man was one of the greatest and kind ethical philiosophers/teachers in human history. Respect him if you believe in his divinity or not.
the woman at 3:20 is right, its not about what he looked like, it was about what he did!!!!!! Praise be to God! I am nothing without my Lord, I wouldn't be alive to this day if it wasn't for his mercy and grace on my life. I am forever yours Lord and nothing can change that...
It was said, that a piece of that cloth taken was rewoven into the original. And it is from OUR LORD JESUS. But, They think, it was shredding and wearing out, and then fixed. But, the shroud itself is real.
Dunno what to believe on this one. If it is his cloth, well... cool. If it's not, still cool anyway. Whether this is his cloth, or not, it doesn't change my faith in the slightest.
This is the face of a teacher, a speaker, a carpenter and a leader. It is the closest rendition of the shroud I have seen to date. It has power and compassion which are the traits of such a man.
One piece of evidence towards the Shroud's authenticity is the fact that icons of Christ from the the 700s to 1000s starkly resemble the Shroud of Turin
I don't care what you guys are thinking or saying about Shroud of Turin..because I believe that Jesus Christ did exist, and this artifact makes my faith even stronger..
it'S the same the way i picure Jesus in my mind. .and the image was same as the movie passion of the christ.. and the shroud was same as the wound on the side of jesus. and the cross wound. . and i know someday. . we will see the real image of Jesus, and we will see him in person. . let us praise God
this is Jesus I know it it hit me just like lightening! i started crying and asking God to forgive me. the way the blood is stained on the cloth is completly accurate for the way the blood way spilled out onto the shrourd. PLUS HE WAS LASHED THEN CRUCIFIED AND PRICED IN THE SIDE. you can see BLOOD if you watch the whole show on history ch. anyways my GOD CONFIRMED HE DIED JUST LIKE THEY SAY HE DID I SAW I VERY CLEAR PIC AND IT WAS JESUS! THE WAY THE SHROUD WAS PROTECTED
I have no problem saying this is a shroud that covered a dead man. We know that this was what took place in history to people that died. My question is, who is it? It could be anyone. Im sure many people looked like this. Do we know what Jesus looked like? If Jesus did look like this then is he the only one who did look like this? How do we know who was buried in this shroud?
@vottoduder - You are woefully ignorant. Unlike others who were crucified at the time, Jesus was made to wear a crown of thorns. Jesus had a spear rammed through his abdomen. The results of these unique wounds show up on the shroud. Furthermore, at about six feet tall, Jesus was exceptionally tall for a man in that time - again the shroud bears witness.
Do some reading. Open your heart and mind.
Read JOHN 3:16 - that's all you really need to know. Believe as you choose.
@bctvguy Look fuckwit, we arn't the ones "believing" thats you numpties. We are observing FACTS and EVIDENCE which seem to mean so little to you because of your ignorance. So you go and believe as you choose because we don't have to believe, we know and discover and things we do not understand we strive to learn more about. You live like a blind man who refuses to accept that he is blind.... so good luck with that, but don't get delusions that you are correct in any way.
@Cryer24597 - If you're so sure you have all the answers, why are you even looking at a video about Jesus and the Shroud of Turin?
You must have some serious doubts about your own professed convictions or you wouldn't be watching. I know the many blessings my Christian faith has brought to my life.
From the classless, angry tone and content of your post, it's clear that you are empty and you are the one disregarding the facts and uniqueness of the shroud.
@bctvguy well said, like a true believer and a true Christian. God bless you. and as for bctvguy, lets just pray for him so that he might find his way to the light.
@Cryer24597 Catholicism is no apposed to science, it is encouraged, they are not contradictory because they come from the very same Creator. The shroud is the burial cloth of Christ, there is not question. If you want me to go into specifics regarding scientific evidence, I can, but I would not have enough room on this post. God bless.
@vottoduder It could be anyone? And how is that??!! I fear you're missing the main point! Who has the POWER TO LEAVE AN IMPRESSION on a piece of cloth? Not just anyone. The ONLY ONE !! i don't know what Jesus looked like, but I have a pretty good idea now.
@vottoduder As is stated in the documentary; There will never be a way to prove that the cloth had Jesus inside of it. However, many things point toward the real possiblity that it was in fact Jesus. The injury types(blood stains) are consistant with those used to describe Jesus' death. The religious artistry which contains pictures of this same cloth, down to the same holes, depicting it as holding Jesus. So, can it be stated positively, no. Neither can it be easily said that it was not.
@vottoduder ..if it could have been anyone.....how come there are no other shrouds that have this unique quality ? ...unless i'm mistaken...this is the only one that this has ever happened to.
@vottoduder That's the beauty of it. We don't know who it really is, but that's where faith comes in. What other human being could leave an imprint on a shroud like this? We know that many people were buried in the same manner, but they didn't leave an image embedded in the cloth. I believe that Jesus left this image of himself behind for all of mankind to see that he was really here. The sad thing about it is that many people see it and still don't believe it.
I do not have to see his face to believe, he dwells within my heart. I am not a doubting Thomas. Those who don't believe there is nothing I can do to convince you. You have to except the Lord yourself, I believe and I know he is the Son of God. I see and feel his presence everyday. I see his on going creation and feel his everlasting Love.
@conan44 i agree. i think everyone is born with some deeply rooted knowledge of god, but as we grow, we being to doubt that. we all have a choice - to accept or reject the free gift that god gives us.
Im in no way a devout catholic, but I do believe this is the cloth of Jesus...For something like this to have survived and been protected for so long must mean something. All the science in the world can't prove it but I believe it.
The shroud sample taken for the analysis has been proven to be a patch made around the time dated on the carbon 14 tests. Not only that but the extensive work of the artists that made this incredible digital face have demonstrated that the shroud's "image" is unexplainable, therefore unreproducible. It is NOT a painting...it is NOT a picture...it is NOT a burning technique...it is NOT a chemical reaction...and most certainly it is NOT the work of Leonardo DaVinci!
@dijopa -Well said and may I had to the list one 'Very Important Point" about the Shroud...The blood was undoubtably on the Shroud before the Image was formed!!...This tiny little fact makes 'Impossible' to have drawn, painted, bas reliefed or photographed the image...This has been concluded 'Scientifically' by many experts.Fact not Fiction.
@dijopa Correct. The shroud sample was of an area I think right at the edge of it and where considerable repairs had been made to it( it had been singed in a fire)They should give the scientists another chance, &for once a piece directly where the image is - the OLDEST part of the cloth.Whether is it real nor not, I am amazed that so many pictures of Jesus are so similar - somewhere out of history and our consciousness he somehow reveals Himself.
it has been preserved over thousands of years - why - to deliver the message in a scientific world: pray for your enemies, those who do wrong to you like I did after all tortures dying on the cross: father forgive them, they do not know what they do (all historical developments and rules and restrictions man-made are nothing compared to that message) - we all have an eternal life and have to live with the good we have done (as requested also to the enemies..) and with our failures - bless you
I believe there was a person called Jesus...don't believe he is the son of 'God' though. Even if this dates back to the time people think Jesus lived, it doesn't mean it proves the existance of Jesus in the sense that he is the son of God and nor does it prove God exists...you are all clutching at straws and missing the point...
@bctvguy.... of course lets not forget that Jesus provided lots of proof so that people seeing him would believe that he was who he was. This is another, for later people.
@bctvguy "For the true believer, no proof is required".........Don't you know that there's a lot of people who are ready to believe if they have proofs of what they're supposed to believe in? Me for example. I'm ready to believe in anything, I'm open minded but I want proofs, I need proofs! I'm not a sheep who follows the pack wherever they run!
@domdom111111 - If you have an open mind and an open heart and want to know more about Jesus - put the authenticity of the shroud aside for a while and start reading the NEW TESTAMENT of THE HOLY BIBLE - or at least the first 4 books of MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE and JOHN. Choose an edition whose language you can readily understand.
Try watching JESUS OF NAZARETH, KING of KINGS, GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD or even BEN-HUR or GODSPELL. .
@bctvguy Amen! to your reply @Rachiejane1... equally... unbelievers shout out "Show me and i will believe"...but Jesus says..."BELIEVE and I will show you".... God Bless
@Rachiejane1 And you are from the land of Saint Thomas Moore, Saint John Fisher, Saint John Newman and Saint Patrick. Oh , and the genius of G.K. Chesterton.
@Rachiejane1 look arond you he made the heavens and earth what more you you need to see look at the cross he die and rose on the 3rd day amen may god show you the way amen
I'm not sure if the Shroud of Turin belongs to Jesus or not. I believe they did an exhaustive job of recreating the likeness it bears. I can tell you I connected immediately with the face. It sent chills throughout my body. Chills at the horrendous torture and chills at the face of the man who may be my Lord. He was beautiful.
It's our Lord, we're honored to see Him as the slaughtered Lamb for our salvation.
What more than this holy Shroud that God could gave us, the Shroud that wrapped His sacrificed body along with the divinity of His holy Spirit that was the cause of the this miracle shown before our own eyes!
The enhancement could be close to the reality, but it's definitely Him that was printed on the Shroud, His holy and sacred Shroud.
This is incredible! The Shroud of Turin was brought to my attention recently and I wanted to research it further. I heard a theory that suggested (don't quote me on this) that the imprint made on the shroud was caused by a bright light, hand in hand with heat which would have followed. The scriptures say that Mary Magdalene visited the tomb and saw a bright light - more intense than the sun. I'm no scientist and I'm not certain of every detail of the Shroud of Turin, but the pieces fit...
The shroud is the only real proof that Jesus lived. The early counsels of the church had knowledge of the shroud and it was the main reason for the conversions of the Roman empire. The Gospels were written and filled in in response to the shroud. The Byzantium empire had the shroud during its history, then the western Latin empire had it during its history. This was the main miracle that was left behind for the conversion of the world. this is also why it has been hidden--danger.
@gjwaters - The gospels of the New Testament, the things He did and taught are the proof of Jesus being who He said He was - the Son of God.
The history of the shroud between the crucifixion and the 14th century is mostly unknown.
You greatly overstate the importance of the shroud. Throughout the last 7 centuries, most practicing Christians were UNaware or barely aware of the shroud's existence.
The shroud wasn't the only proof back then. His robe healed the at death's door sick people. And Constantine was immediately converted upon being presented with it. Of course, no one knows where that is. But I do believe it still exists...somewhere.
I have not cried so hard and so deep into my soul maybe forever,( or at least since i saw my husband laying so battered in the ICU) this left me feeling something very intense and deep, This made it all so very real and so very very painful.. and i just want to say how very sorry i am to Jesus that they did this to him for US
My aunt is a portrait painter and she painted this shroud face exactly how it looks on the shroud but filled in all the details. It looks much more authentic then the painting in this video. The painting in this video shows Jesus with soft face features but the shroud shows a face with very pronounced features such as the high cheak bones and the pronounced nose. Also on the shroud the bottom of the beard is square and does not taper to a point.
I know that (my) faith in Jesus, doesn't require proof. Notwithstanding, I also, believe that the Shroud of Turin is an authentic representation of an inexplicable phenomenon. The actual causality of the phenomenon itself... I think, is worthy of further scientific investigation. Understand, it would not be for the purpose of validation or disavowing, rather, discerning the supernatural aspects of it via science. Grasping the essence of science, advances our knowledge of us.
Why is it being authenticated now? Could the anti christ be on his way and they're trying to soften us up to this image? I don't believe this is Jesus Christ's image. Who ever has control over society does not have out best interests at heart and there for would not give us the real image of Christ for out spiritual gain. They want to mislead us like they have been for hundreds of years.
@bctvguy The most plausible, is that the strips of linen(greek "othonion" spoken of by the Gospel of John) with which the body of the Lord was bound, was put over him AFTER that he had been wrapped in the "sindon"(greek word that Matthew mentioned). Matt. 27:59 says that: "And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,"
*The meaning of "sindon", can be: "linen cloth, esp. that which was fine and costly, in which the bodies of the dead were wrapped"
Behold Jesus. I knew it the day I laid eyes on it. I knew it by the Spirit that dwells in me. Praise His Holy Name. And ThankYou Jesus for all you went through for me. The radiant light that burned His image into the cloth is the same radiant light that raised Him from the dead. The Holy Spirit.
Lack of spices on the cloth militates against it being real. The Gospel of John [chapter 19, verses 39-40] talks of Nicodemus wrapping Jesus' body with linen strips laden with spices.
I got one question and one question only that will blow all these shroud bullshitters away: How the fuck do you KNOW that this piece of linen cloth ever covered the body of a character named Jesus in your New Testament?
Anyone thinks he or she can answer this question? I don' think so.
@Voodoofreak35 due to the fact that It comes from jereusalem 2000 years ago, and the image on it depicts exactly what was described about Jesus's execution. Jesus was treated differently. He was scourged more than other crucifixion victims, because when he was 1st beaten, there was no intent in killing him, so they beat him more severely Most people that were crucified were in good condition so they would live longer on the cross Also jesus was pierced in the side with a spear which wasnt normal
looks like "Robert Powell" in Jesus of Nazareth.. I don't know, I believe this is the shroud, but is like the woman said: "doesnt matter how it look, is what h did what it counts"
@bctvguy. For those who are blind. Bless them and lift there names up, for there eyes be unclothed, and there spirt be devoured with warmth of the all mighty God in Heaven, for his light pierce there hearts, and drain there sin, along with our sins, I pray for the ones who cannot see his truth, Lord forgive them," they know not what they do ", as said by jesus christ The King of All. Amen.
@DoctorE0 So is evolution. The only reason you believe in evolution or aliens or whatever is because some dumb scientist that can make mistakes told you that is how we are created. Die, and then you will know, but it may be too late.
@DoctorE0 prove it doctor, prove it. if the devil is fake then why is there an illuminati, if jesus was fake why is there that shroud and if god was fake why did he secure the shroud over all the years hidden for many centuries while having that fame for the shroud and if the shroud is fake why is there a picture of jesus and the shroud the same century he died and why is the shroud proven to be 100% real?
@DoctorE0 Well one thing is for sure, one day you will be in front of the holy presence of God and right before you step into Hell for all eternity, you will know that Jesus is Lord of Lords and you rejected his love and salvation becasue you were a fool and you decided to listen to everyone else and everything else except the truth. You my friend are a lost soul. But you still have a chance. Repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus!
I truly believe that the Shroud of Turin was the shroud that covered Jesus Christ. The carbon dating, even though it's not talk about, was redone. What they found was that the original dating was done from a slight repair job in the middle ages. The second test resulted in it being dated to Jesus's time. Now whether the computer image they built is accurate, I believe it is the most accurate image we have of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
@craigdb84 I believe it too. The shroud had some stitching on the back which was unique to Jesus' time (they know this because of fabric they found woven with the same characteristic stitching in around 70 AD). You may have already watched it, but search for the Channel 4 (British channel) documentary called "Shroud Of Christ?" on youtube, in the "shows" section. It's roughly an hour long, and absolutely amazing, in my opinion. If you watch it, please write and let me know what you think!
Even if the shroud is real and the technology to extract a representation of Jesus Christ was used brilliantly in this application, the fact that we now may have a picture of what Christ looked like should be considered by all true Christians a violation of God's laws. See Exodus 20:4 and Leviticus 26:1. No cross should have a figure of Christ on it. No Christian should bow or pray to any earthly item that represents God in any way.
@HMG5588 whos bowing and praying to the shrould? i bow a worship jesus not his picture let me ask you this jusus said pick up your cross and follow me is the cross an idol ? i agree that we are not to worship his likeness , if im holding a cross in my hand while im praying is that considered idol worship? where do we draw the line , whats considered worshiping jesus and what is considered idol worship?
@tonyshadow09 that was the pope and theres nothing wrong with that. a cross is just a symbol of our hardship and trials. thats why most ppl pray with a cross in there hands. its supposed say hey jesus im here following u with my cross. ppl like to have an image of god in their head so when they pray they visualize jesus. its not idol worship at all. just symbols of our faith
@KikoHey It doesn't matter so much, I agree, but it's nice to have a visual. The point of Jesus coming down was to have a personal connection, which is easier to have when you have something to look at, yes?

this is Jesus I know it it hit me just like lightening! i started crying and asking God to forgive me. the way the blood is stained on the cloth is completly accurate for the way the blood way spilled out onto the shrourd. I have no problem saying this is a shroud that covered a dead man. We know that this was what took place in history to people that died. My question is, who is it? It could be anyone. Im sure many people looked like this. Do we know what Jesus looked like? If Jesus did look like this then is he the only one who did look like this? How do we know who was buried in this shroud?
vottoduder 1 year ago 4
@vottoduder - You are woefully ignorant. Unlike others who were crucified at the time, Jesus was made to wear a crown of thorns. Jesus had a spear rammed through his abdomen. The results of these unique wounds show up on the shroud. Furthermore, at about six feet tall, Jesus was exceptionally tall for a man in that time - again the shroud bears witness.
Do some reading. Open your heart and mind.
Read JOHN 3:16 - that's all you really need to know. Believe as you choose.
bctvguy 1 year ago 42
@bctvguy Look fuckwit, we arn't the ones "believing" thats you numpties. We are observing FACTS and EVIDENCE which seem to mean so little to you because of your ignorance. So you go and believe as you choose because we don't have to believe, we know and discover and things we do not understand we strive to learn more about. You live like a blind man who refuses to accept that he is blind.... so good luck with that, but don't get delusions that you are correct in any way.
Cryer24597 10 months ago
@Cryer24597 - If you're so sure you have all the answers, why are you even looking at a video about Jesus and the Shroud of Turin?
You must have some serious doubts about your own professed convictions or you wouldn't be watching. I know the many blessings my Christian faith has brought to my life.
From the classless, angry tone and content of your post, it's clear that you are empty and you are the one disregarding the facts and uniqueness of the shroud.

God bless.
timh7403 9 months ago
@vottoduder It could be anyone? And how is that??!! I fear you're missing the main point! Who has the POWER TO LEAVE AN IMPRESSION on a piece of cloth? Not just anyone. The ONLY ONE !! i don't know what Jesus looked like, but I have a pretty good idea now.
brrag 1 year ago 5
@vottoduder
Not only that, there was NO light source at that time that could have photographed the image on the cloth.
signorellinick 1 year ago 2
@vottoduder As is stated in the documentary; There will never be a way to prove that the cloth had Jesus inside of it. However, many things point toward the real possiblity that it was in fact Jesus. The injury types(blood stains) are consistant with those used to describe Jesus' death. The religious artistry which contains pictures of this same cloth, down to the same holes, depicting it as holding Jesus. So, can it be stated positively, no. Neither can it be easily said that it was not.
cjhandy777 1 year ago
@vottoduder ..if it could have been anyone.....how come there are no other shrouds that have this unique quality ? ...unless i'm mistaken...this is the only one that this has ever happened to.
godwillhunting2 1 year ago
@vottoduder That's the beauty of it. We don't know who it really is, but that's where faith comes in. What other human being could leave an imprint on a shroud like this? We know that many people were buried in the same manner, but they didn't leave an image embedded in the cloth. I believe that Jesus left this image of himself behind for all of mankind to see that he was really here. The sad thing about it is that many people see it and still don't believe it.

The shroud sample taken for the analysis has been proven to be a patch made around the time dated on the carbon 14 tests. Not only that but the extensive work of the artists that made this incredible digital face have demonstrated that the shroud's "image" is unexplainable, therefore unreproducible. It is NOT a painting...it is NOT a picture...it is NOT a burning technique...it is NOT a chemical reaction...and most certainly it is NOT the work of Leonardo DaVinci!
dijopa 1 year ago 9
@dijopa -Well said and may I had to the list one 'Very Important Point" about the Shroud...The blood was undoubtably on the Shroud before the Image was formed!!...This tiny little fact makes 'Impossible' to have drawn, painted, bas reliefed or photographed the image...This has been concluded 'Scientifically' by many experts.Fact not Fiction.
Flagrum3 1 year ago
@dijopa Correct. The shroud sample was of an area I think right at the edge of it and where considerable repairs had been made to it( it had been singed in a fire)They should give the scientists another chance, &for once a piece directly where the image is - the OLDEST part of the cloth.Whether is it real nor not, I am amazed that so many pictures of Jesus are so similar - somewhere out of history and our consciousness he somehow reveals Himself.
MrsJosephMerrick 1 year ago
it has been preserved over thousands of years - why - to deliver the message in a scientific world: pray for your enemies, those who do wrong to you like I did after all tortures dying on the cross: father forgive them, they do not know what they do (all historical developments and rules and restrictions man-made are nothing compared to that message) - we all have an eternal life and have to live with the good we have done (as requested also to the enemies..) and with our failures - bless you
khi590 1 year ago 4
I believe there was a person called Jesus...don't believe he is the son of 'God' though. Even if this dates back to the time people think Jesus lived, it doesn't mean it proves the existance of Jesus in the sense that he is the son of God and nor does it prove God exists...you are all clutching at straws and missing the point...

I'm no scientist and I'm not certain of every detail of the Shroud of Turin, but the pieces fit...
picturesqueish 1 year ago
The shroud is the only real proof that Jesus lived. The early counsels of the church had knowledge of the shroud and it was the main reason for the conversions of the Roman empire. The Gospels were written and filled in in response to the shroud. The Byzantium empire had the shroud during its history, then the western Latin empire had it during its history. This was the main miracle that was left behind for the conversion of the world. this is also why it has been hidden--danger.
gjwaters 1 year ago
@gjwaters - The gospels of the New Testament, the things He did and taught are the proof of Jesus being who He said He was - the Son of God.
The history of the shroud between the crucifixion and the 14th century is mostly unknown.
You greatly overstate the importance of the shroud. Throughout the last 7 centuries, most practicing Christians were UNaware or barely aware of the shroud's existence.

@gjwaters Wrong, my friend. There is much historical and archeological evidence.

The shroud wasn't the only proof back then. His robe healed the at death's door sick people. And Constantine was immediately converted upon being presented with it. Of course, no one knows where that is. But I do believe it still exists...somewhere.

Stinukli 1 year ago
Behold Jesus. I knew it the day I laid eyes on it. I knew it by the Spirit that dwells in me. Praise His Holy Name. And ThankYou Jesus for all you went through for me. The radiant light that burned His image into the cloth is the same radiant light that raised Him from the dead. The Holy Spirit.

comali2212 1 year ago
@Voodoofreak35 due to the fact that It comes from jereusalem 2000 years ago, and the image on it depicts exactly what was described about Jesus's execution. Jesus was treated differently. He was scourged more than other crucifixion victims, because when he was 1st beaten, there was no intent in killing him, so they beat him more severely Most people that were crucified were in good condition so they would live longer on the cross Also jesus was pierced in the side with a spear which wasnt normal

I truly believe that the Shroud of Turin was the shroud that covered Jesus Christ. The carbon dating, even though it's not talk about, was redone. What they found was that the original dating was done from a slight repair job in the middle ages. The second test resulted in it being dated to Jesus's time. Now whether the computer image they built is accurate, I believe it is the most accurate image we have of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
craigdb84 1 year ago
