Yenisei Punk was kind of a big thing in Europe when it came 1995. Much bigger than anywhere else. Maybe you people were just too busy on listening Pandora and E-type during that time. :)
well it's rediculous that the song is thought here to be a sort of folk music from Tuva. but it's not. it's just a russian old-believer spiritual vers.

It's basically the story of Sodom and Gomorrah from Genesis 19, the first set of lyrics up until the start of the karygyraa is a discussion between the angels and Lot, then the angels are pleading for Lot to leave quickly. Then, the city of Sodom, young and old, surround Lot's home, he comes out to calm them down. Everyone tries to get away from Sodom, Lot's wife looks back and becomes a salt pillar as Sodom is destroyed. That's pretty much the story.
I first heard this after copying it to a throat singing mix tape made back in 2000 and it is still, after all these years, the "HEAVIEST" tune ever, imho. The combo of simplicity, sparseness, simple accents, and solemn melody are pure magick... not to mention the backwards 'scary' outro. If anyone ever hears something deeper let me know.
i just understand russian language, so i understand what is said and how :) also i lived in soviet country in soviet union times, so lyrics are much deeper, when you, for example, compare soviet union to sodom and gomorrah.
and lets not forget the Uyghurs either, while at it. they too are trying to break away from China. the song is one of the eeriest ones on the album. greetings from Macaristan.
keep Tuva clean and natural pls ...this beauty must be under protection..

Wow I'd love to be able to sing like that, as if gutural singing wasn't cool enough, being able to do this should be amazing.
