Wow! Was I surprised when I just checked my website links! Thank yo so much for using my art as illustrations for this great, classic ELO song. My art is MY way of "steppin' out" into the big, bold bright world. Thanks for the creative use of the images and the credit!
I'm so thrilled that you approve!!! I went crazy at that site, your work is so colorful and creative, and to think this was just the tip of the iceberg.
Please allow me to use more of your work, I want to share it with the world =)
You may certainly post more of my work on your site. I always love to see the interaction between my interpretation of the world and a viewer's . Just e-mail me at my website and I'll send you links and updates when I post new paintings. I have 25 more to add plus more on the easel! Thanks again.
Okay. Pinkie-finger agreement. Was painting last week to "I Am A Rock" by Simon and Garfunkel. Lyrics describe a lot of my history. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. This is all a great surprise/mystery to me!
There was a period of several weeks in '80 or '81 when I'd leave my Omaha apartment for work at SAC HQ with this song playing on the turntable. Listening to it now sends me nostalgically back to that long-lost place and time of regretably wasted opportunity. Alas.
My view of it: The song speaks of making a major change in one's life. The paintings are the half-formed phantasmagoria of bright hopes and lurking fears that we feel when we begin such a change.
The chorus combined with the artwork kinda reminds me of EoE I am just not sure why its not the depicted motives, neither the lyrics... just the overall mash up I guess...

And once I'd read MISTER BLUE (circa 1981) by Myles Connelly (pub. 1926) the song and the book became forever associated with each other in my mind.
