That was my exact initial reaction, except I said "What the fuck?!" over and over again. But, with the help of a few websites, it finally made sense. This is one of my favourite movies of all time. All it takes is some patience, and then it really becomes clear.

It's a good film but becuase of how extremely intense it is it's hard to keep track of everything. One second people are turning into tang then the next second mechs have now got faces and are having an orgasm over stabbing themselves. Then everyone dies and I mean literally everyone dies! then only one person is reborn?

I love this film just as much as any other EVA fan but I can guarantee that you need to research just what the fuck it all meant after watching it.

The End of Evangelion is the best movie I have ever seen in my life. Watched it around 40 times now. Never gets old. Sometimes I'll turn it on before I go to bed. Shit's a fuckin' lullaby to me.

And NGE as a whole is the greatest anime of all time.

Today's genertation is too numb and closed minded to actually make the effort to find out about the main philosophy of the story.

Even after I experimented with LSD, this series blew my mind even more because the main essence of it is much closer to what the universe is really about than all of these self inflicted religions humanity has made up in their god complex.

Being an avid fan of evangelion, my only problem was I was born in the wrong generation so I can't find much of the stuff so when I see an episode or movie or video on youtube, I watch it but I saw the first 2 mins of the end of evangelion and It was the weirdest and to be frank, quite sickest thing I have ever seen. I mean, how could shinji do something like that while asuka was in a coma.

When you get into the anime, and find the meaning of what the story represents, everything will become clear. The last episodes and EoE are clearly meant for thinkers, so when someone watches the anime and the OVA without putting time thinking about it isn't going to understand it....

Most people critique that It makes little sense, but if you put some research into what its based on, the very vague hints that are given to you, and interpret things with an open mind, its actually one of the greatest mindf$%k movies of all time. Hell, my friend thinks its better than Fight Club, which is a high ovation from him

@narutoman876 I know, I have seen the whole series. But even so, there is no denying that on the technical level the movie falls flat. There was no real climax. It was awfully paced. And just the overall narrative was poor. The only redeeming quality was the mysterious music score and the great animation. I personally only like the movie because of it's feel of size. I just loved the imagery of Unit 01 hovering above the clouds and during the Third Impact when the whole planet is illuminated.

@AquariaSpirit because its not supposed to be like evry other Macha anime its a parody of the whole mecha genre, its climax wasnt one big lazer fight with giant robots, there was no fight at all and it was horrifically organic. it was even divide into episode 25 and 26 it wasnt supposed to be a mopvie in the first place but thats the only way they could finish the series how they indented

According to me, it ruined the wonderfull two last episodes of the TV Show, witch were the greatest things I've ever seen. The movie is too explicit, too literal, too SF, too fan service. When watching it, I had the impression that Anno was giving the otakus all they wanted at this time, and what himself could'nt bear : robots fights, sex, answers and shonen easy psychology (Asuka reborn, lol).
