I am a computer programmer, and internet explorer is always a pain to me because it reads code so badly, infact every third advanced function i program for a website does not work or is severely disfigured in internet explorer.  Internet explorer is not bad because the interface is bad or because it is slow, but simply because it is so incompatible with the programming standard of today, that it becomes painful to deal with it. the internte would be a better place for programmers without it.

Internet Explorer: closed source, gets updated via Windows Update, slow to get updated, microsoft doesn't care about the vulnerabilities as much.

Firefox and Chrome are independent of the windows OS, and are also open source, so if someone notices a bug, they can look at the source code to see where the bug is, and how to fix, then send it to the website that they got it from.

It's simple dont use all these bs download manager programs..keep it simple. but i do agree for the options of extensions. how well they work, and overall speed. chrome beats ie 9 and it's obvious ie 9 copied chrome to a decent degree.

On all of my computers, Firefox is my main browser. However, the ones running Windows still have Internet Explorer installed and I must admit, Internet Explorer 9 beta is awesome, because it's faster, however I don't know about it's safety. Half the time on Mac OS X I use Safari the other half I use Firefox.

Firefox is the best though. Chrome isn't my favorite though because it's made by Google and is replacing Firefox.

I like Chrome because it's faster and more responsive, but I consider IE more secure than any other browser, for the simple fact that Chrome doesn't have too much settings for security, IE does.

I can't stand IE, as 6 and 7 are horriblly slow and unstable, crashing whenever I try to load more than 5 tabs and 8 is tolerable but only if for about 5 minutes.

I use Mozilla and chromium. I like the layout and stability of Mozilla, and I like chromium because it is damn fast. I've tried opera and it seemed to me to be in between the two, pretty fast and a nice layout, however sense it's not open source and doesn't provide any particular advantages so, I don't use it.

IE8- Worst browser ever. Slow and buggy as hell, loads my webpages wrong, and its toolbars take up half the screen.

IE9- A LOT better, but there are still much better browsers. But at least it's more minimalistic and renders webpages better.

Safari- Pretty fast, but not very customizable.

Firefox- Slower than Safari, but the themes and extensions = win

Opera- Same as Safari, but with more preinstalled.

Chrome/Chromium - FINALLY a browser that mixes speed with customizability!

Yeah, internet explorer is safe. But, they sacrificed so much speed. The browsers with the least bugs to me seem to be Safari and Firefox.

Too many people use internet explorer because windows comes with it. Plus, there aren't many pages that aren't compatible with IE, Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. Every page I've ever surfed works with all of them.

I only have it installed on certain machines because Youtube downloader depends on it. But Mac's YTD is java based. I don't even need flash.

Step 2: If your install of IE 8 or IE 9 Beta didn't remove IE 6 automatically. Go to Control Panel > Uninstall a program (or some thing of the like). Click to remove IE 6.
