Lmao thats why half my friends are emmigrating to canada! To laugh into your faces because were so rich here in Ireland or maybe because we have no jobs and pay huge taxes sure one or the other all the same thing!
Sad to think Ireland was a rich and econimically powerful nation just a few years ago. And to think they have protected their elite who brought them diester. At least they elected a historical government to punish theone which helped bring them to this point.
What a difference a year makes. I guess that's the difference between an economy based on natural resources whose banks have been well regulated and one where the bankers and the government share a tent at the races and whose economy is based on building houses for the immigrants who have immigrated to get jobs building houses for the immigrants who have immigrated to get jobs building houses for the....
its funny, Irelands ecomony was obviously never good to begin with cause things dont just fall apart over night! So this proves that things could be worse... Way worse!
@ParanoidGallows I think the point was the economy there is in the toilet and Canadian economy is going there with you...this is a Canadian show so the humour was aimed at Canadians!
@lucy9359 The Canadian economy is going with me? I'm not Irish. However, saying that just because it's a Canadian show and it's only for Canadians is narrow-minded. It's people like you who make me avoid immigrating there.
@lucy9359 I know that the show is in Canada. They don't call it the CBC for nothing. I also know that your economy isn't going well. However, your stupidity astounds me. I previously did make the point that people outside of Canada do watch Canadian TV. I don't live in europe nor am I a muslim but it does point out that you're a racist.
@ParanoidGallows hmmm I already told you I am happy you have decided to stay out of Canada...what makes you think we want every imigrant from every part of the world in this country any way....If you don't sport an evil religion and you can live by our laws...if you don't intend to collect a welfare cheque when you arrive, so that I have to pay my taxes to support you then come on over other wise stay in your own country and who really cares if you think I am racist I don't ok!
Please keep in mind that calling a Canadian a racist is one of the most severe accusations you can throw at them. If you do plan to come to Canada, I highly advise to minimize your use of that word for the sake of longevity.
Additionally, we need educated and enthusiastic people to come to Canada, clearly you don't meet the criteria.
@johnlewisy It's not up to you if I meet the criteria or not. It's up to Citizenship and Immigration Canada to decide that. Additionally, you don't know me nor my educational background. I suggest that you refrain from being Lucy's white knight.
@johnlewisy Actually, amongst the Canadians I know, being called a racist is almost akin to a badge of honour. The slur usually comes from someone more comfortable insulting someone than engaging in honest, INFORMED debate with them. Meaningless ad hominems are derived from unrecognized propaganda because the speaker hopes his/her lack of intelligence can be disguised, so as to allow themselves to become part of a conversation they are not equipped to understand or contribute to.
I am every concerned for you if you deal normally with people who enjoy being called racists in a multicultural society. I take it then that you are a white supremist?
@johnlewisy Well let's start with the ad hominem attacks that you think are an acceptable substitute for honest, INFORMED debate. You not only proved the point that I had previously made on the subject but, you also went out of your way to show your reading and comprehension skills are quite lacking. Read my previous comments again and then see if you can decipher why your responses come-off sounding quite idiotic.
Respond to this video... Oh and if you think that an inflated service sector and a captive resource sector are proof that: "The Canadian Economy is doing very well right now,...", I've got some really bad news for you.
@lucy9359 I hate Canadians??? How did your dumb, hate-fueled, redneck, microbrain come to that conclusion? And after I identified Paul Martin and recognized he hasn't been our Prime Minister for 6 years, why would you be so asinine as to state an opinion that I wasn't a Canadian and didn't live in Canada.
Man, you are some kind of dumb bitch. Crawl back under that rock you call home, will ya!
BTW BITCH: I'm from Alberta. You know, the part of Canada that for the last forty years has prevented Canada from becoming a third-world backwater. Yes we do have rednecks here. It's why we're, again, considering passing legislation to prevent Northern Ontario welfare bums from moving here.
@FatFred2U lol you guys all need to relax... you realize this is just a Rick Mercer video on YouTube right? No need to get your western panties in a twist.
@magical11 Actually, it's the rest of Canada that "struck lucky". After all, without Alberta who would support the Culture Of Entitlement that makes blaming someone else preferable to recognizing you are responsible for your situation,... and only you are responsible for changing it?
Great. So when Alberta runs out of oil and its economy shrivels up and dies, Alberta won't come crying to B.C for help, or Newfoundland with its new-found oil. After all, its Alberta's fault. They should just get jobs, the future lazy bums of Canada. But then, that will probably only happen once the Baby boomers have expired, so the culture of entitlement might not exist at that point...
@Captain0Newman Well Cappy, with proven reserves (including tar sands) greater than the Arabian Gulf region, you may be waiting a long while for Alberta or Albertans to come with hat in hand. Prolly not as long as we'll be waiting for the rest of Canada to discover that the problems it has created for itself happened in spite of Alberta's contributions, not for the lack of them. Your Welcome!
@FatFred2U I'm sure they have lots of oil. And as long as there is a market for crude (or very crude...) Alberta will be laughing. The real question is, how long is there going to be a market for oil in the future? Might there come a point when oil is an obsolete, even inefficient energy source in the near future? I wouldn't doubt it at the rate people are gonna start losing their shit over climate change when cities start going under, or the price of oil becomes to high for casual consumption.
@Captain0Newman Historically, price increases and limited availability have had no long-term effect on ever increasing consumption. With the known reserves in the world at this time, this pattern can continue for more than 100 years. When viable alternatives to the combustion of fossil fuels are available, no-one will cheer louder than I. But I won't hold my breath, waiting for that to happen, either. Efficient consumption (higher gas mileage, more efficient appliances, etc.) is where we're at.
@lucy9359 You seem to have missed two key points: 1. The vid refers to Paul Martin as canada's leader so it indicates it was produced over 5 years ago, 2: It shows Ireland with an economy strong enough to brag about - so it dates the video to pre-2008.
As for your comment, "I am sure I do reflect popular opinion amongst westerners in regards to that particular religion": I find it offensive and laughable. You represent no-one but yourself and you come-off as an uneducated reneck.
@FatFred2U Sorry Fat Fred I am an educated redneck, that is why I can spell it! All the way from Northern Ontario I am a woman who can knock down a moose in the morning, skin a fish in the afternoon, and well dazzle my big hunk of a man by night...probably because I ain't sitting around on my fat freddy all day long, eh? Why don't you come on down to the North country where good ole gals can use a swedish army rifle? I am not sure I know how to fire at short range though eh????
@lucy9359 I apologize for my "D" key sticking at such a crucial moment and YouTube not allowing me to pre-post or correct mistakes after the fact (features that were available on internet forums in 1995). But I'm sure you've never made a simple mistake like that.
However, you still come-off sounding like a dumb redneck,... just more loud, prejudiced and boorish than most.
My weapon of choice: an FN-C2. Regardless of range, it is quite effective at dropping fat cows (and other dumb animals).
The Canadian Economy is doing very well right now....even then we were doing pretty great. Ireland right now went from 40% debt to GDP to what 150%?
If a nation like Canada goes into economic recession, we KNOW we're going to get out of it soon because of our invaluable natural resources, services sectors and large educated work force. Ireland on the other hand was going strong but now is in the dumps with no hope of recovery for the next decade or so.
@johnlewisy apparantly Rick Mercer didn't think so and I also think that depends where you live...Ontario is still in the toilet... however from 2009 (over the interest rate being dropped) some jobs were recreated and small business picked back up...the low interest rate caused a huge hike in the price of housing which helps no one...the price of housing has seen 100% inflation in the last 10 years...the cost of living is way out of proportion with earnings still....
