I really miss this most underrated performance artist. I saw one of his shows where he did a Jimi Hendrix as his finale and he painted it upside down. When he finished it, it kinda' looked like Jimi but a little odd. He played up the crowd like he made a mistake but then he turned the large canvas upside down (or rather right side up) and voila'...a perfect Hendrix. Just brilliant to have painted it upside down. I wish I owned one of his pieces. A lost legend.

Saw Denny perform at the State University of N.Y. back in the late 80's. The man was incredible, took my breath away. At the end of his performance I went up to the stage and asked him to autograph my psych. book, he opened the front cover, dipped his hand in red paint, and laid his hand on the page, and signed it "never stop believing in yourself, Denny Dent". He will be so greatly missed, but am sure hes painting the rock and roll heaven beautiful colors!

I had the privilege of watching Denny perform at the University of Wyoming about 8 years ago - he did a painting of Hendrix that looked like he fucked it up until he turned the canvas UPSIDE DOWN and it was almost identical to this one!! The man was phenominal! God rest his soul!!

I remember sitting around one night totally baked about 12 or 13 years ago with my roommate watching Denny on The Tonight Show. We had no idea what the hell he was doing, but both being Hendrix fans, we went with it. When "Purple Haze" ended the camera widened its lens and we both said, "Whoa." I think we smoked another bong hit to celebrate.
