  • where is your layout

i think my feind lives near the shop

  • @poisonarrowfrog100 This layout is my own at home The one you have seen in the shop in in Morley and is still there. My own layout has been changed a litlle since the last filming I will have to film an updatte

  • Thank you

  • very good indeed

  • Yes the ones I use have a screen with info about which locos are running and the speed settings direction ect

  • Not sure what you mean

  • DC is simple just a control box that puts more or less volts on the track so the train goes faster or slower Digital Command Control is electronic and the voltage is always the same on the track A microchip in the loco varies the voltage to the motor But more than that You can turn on lights sounds and some operating features Also points and signals all from just 2 wires connected from the control box to the track/ points, signals DCC is the way to go It is simple to wire up and easy to use

  • Nice layout 5* Cheers.

  • Thank you for your comment There is still lots more work to do on the scenery but it is getting there The track is all finnished now although some of it still needs ballasting and painting

  • Like me, taking ages with getting on with my layout, slowly but getting there. Cheers.

  • there is no other feeling in the world like taking out a brand new model!

  • That day I had the pleasure of opening 2 brand new locomotives The Deltic is one of the best models I have for detail and I was overjoyed to get this limited edition at last after failing in my first attempt. But Models should run and I do not like to keep them unused in their boxes like some people do The deltic takes a turn on special excursions every so often. I know the real one never has but on my layout I can imagine it does

  • i see what you mean, my nexdoor neibor had a rather large layout in his loft, it was a kings cross set up (i think :-/) he had a beautifly detailed custom merchant navy class, and it was in a box??? if that was mine it would be running everyother day! and what realy fries me is a week later, he skiped the whole lol!! i mean, wtf? uit was a good £3k worth of stuff and he threw it out! some people...

  • Wow As you say some people I would never bin any of my models Even the oldest in my collection from when I was a kid are still about The wheels on many are too coarse to run on modern track but I would rather sell them than bin them

  • i know, lol, if i had an old model that may be a bit of an electrical risk, dosent run ver well, but looks fine, i shall put it in a glass display case or on a siding where it can be seen! never box or bin.

  • could you tell me where he lives so i can slap him in the face?

  • What i would do is put it on dislpay in a siding, or fix it.

  • I understand, it would be like they bought it for nothing and opening items is something i really like to do, and i would hate to throw a model out. don't bin, display. don't box, run.

  • Yea Models should run That is what they are made for And when they have come to a time they are old and to a lower standard than the new ones they that is the time they go on dispaly Never thrown away

  • Also, i really like your layout! looks very realistic. Do you have any steam engines? it would be nice to have some on a perfect layout like that. and also, you said in your live steam mallard video, you said it wouldn't be good for your layout as it would derail in the tunnel. is the tunnel at 5:13 the tunnel you were talking about?

  • Yes I do have steam engines as well but non are DCC fitted yet I do not run them often but like Deltic they have worked the odd excursion train I am waiting for the Hornby Clan to come along now Yes the tunnel starts just after the bridge and is on an uphill section which then changes to downhill half way through to make the front of the layout a little more interesting The board is 3 feet x 5 feet so if something derails in there it is hard to reach With live steam it would not be a good thing

  • Then you will be pleased to know I have 3 Flying Scotsman and a Deltic and a prototype Deltic Tri-ang Flying Scotsman in BR green with non corridoor tender and glowing firebox Tri-ang Hornby Flying Scotsman in LNER apple green and limited edition Hornby Flying Scotsman with 2 tenders one in intercity blue grey livery My class 55 runs the intercity train to London from Queen Street and the prototype is used on special occasions with a rake of marroon stock

  • I have a jar full of old coins I could use In the past I have experimented with putting more weight in wagons and it does improve the performnce in some cases. When I run open wagons I usualy load them with grit or steel rather than a light dummy load but have never tried with passenger trains

  • sweet vid i like the layout

  • Thankyou I took a look at your layout and it looks more advanced than mine with the scenic work you have done I like the main station

  • I love your Layout and Locos, Great job!

  • Thankyou. At the beginning of the clip where we see the class 24 departing is the main station I am building based on Glasgow Queen Street. I have almost finnished the road bridge across the end of the station and am now working on the signal box which is under the bridge. The other main station is not based on anywhere in particular but is like Haymarket in that it is just on the outskirts of town on the main lines North and South somewhere between Glasgow and Carlisle
