  • My child's endocrinologist wants to stop thyroid replacement tx after eight years, and will test in six weeks. He says her antibodies are good, but aren't they good because she has been on Levothyroxine 125mcg. I am afraid she is going to have all sorts of problems. Would you get a second opinion if you were me?

  • @fructmals Hashimoto's is not a primary thyroid issue, it's an immune system issue. I have never read a paper saying that thyroid hormone replacement impacts autoantibody levels.

The promotors of the autoimmune attack *should* be the primary focus. Ask your doctor what those promotors are then observe the silence.

Second opinion? Yes, but from someone that is going to do the EXACT same thing with everyone that comes in with the same symptoms, no way. Standard medicine is designed that way.

  • @chirodc632001 Well, that worked itself out because at the time I asked to wait for medication withdrawal to be made during the summer. But before that happened her TPO went very high, on it's own, and then they decided it was definitely Hashimotto's and contuinued meds. Then, I found out I have hereditary hemochromatois, which is not so rare, and I am having difficulty getting my son and daughter genetically tested. Many people are telling me this would not be a problem for years.Mmm.

  • Very true about the Vitamin D issue . I have to take two 5,000 I.U. every morning just to keep at 40.

  • My Endo does do this test as a matter of routine . Most thyroid problems are caused by Hashimoto's and not by a "bad " thyroid.BTW it's now just referred to as Thyroiditis and you can't treat thyroiditis according to the T.S.H.

  • @WillExposeYou Your Endo is ahead of most. The standard treatment for Hashimoto's thyroiditis is hormone replacement and is monitored by TSH. This issues is primarily with the immune system and secondarily with the thyroid. We should look for promotors of immune dysfunction: Bacteria and viruses can cross react with normal cells, chronic inflammation from food sensitivities and insulin spikes can disrupt immune function, and the lack of raw material like vitamin D and zinc alter communication...

  • I've had the test done and mine came back positive for the antibodies. Initially my thyroid function was ok but now I have hypothyroidism and I feel horrible even on the thyroid hormone replacement. This sucks!!

  • @cocoa8872 You are not alone. This is very common. As I said in the video, even if TPO antibodies are positive, the "standard" treatment is the same...hormone replacement. You have an immune system problem not a thyroid problem. The immune system needs to be supported in order for you to truly get better. When a patients shows positive TPO antibodies, I always run 3 tests to view the immune system: TH1/TH2 panel, CD4/CD8 ratio panel and vitamin D.

  • @cocoa8872 You can order these tests on our site. If you need help understanding the results, we do that at no charge. Visit the site mentioned in the video or found on our channel.
