I used to work in that place during the early 90's.
In the daytime it was ok especially the free zone, casino and that upstairs restaurant near the port gates, but not the safest place to be walking around at night.
I remember quite a few people who got robbed when their taxis were hijacked on the road between Panama City and Colon.
As for the aduaneros what a bunch of hyped up self-important twats they were.
NO the BLACKS in Panama do not have the Same opportunities as the whites and that is a shame! The Panamanians have to RESPECT them self all the KILLING going on in COLON is crazy. Even the Police are criminals . The law is very bad you would need MONEY to buy your way OUT!I wish colon was the way it was back in the 70's - 90's. Now there is no carnival in colon for you to enjoy carnival you have to go out. Streets are tore up first street by the water can't sit by the water with your family.
my friend yamilex and and her friend johnny are from here!!! yamilex is pretty and johnny is just SEXI :] haha! but they are moving back this summer :[

I lived in Colon for a year back in 2002. Great place, people there are very likeable and polite.
