there is a plugin availble in the repos to disable playback when headphones are unplugged. You need to research before you make videos....

Does it support gapless playback? I hate my 5800 when it makes an awful 2 sec pause between two tracks... If this doesn't support gapless playback I'm seriously getting myself the next iPhone! I've been a Nokia fan for a long time, but now I'm disappointed in them :(

To solve the problem about the music continuing to play when the cord is out. Just download the application called headphone deamon. Short description about the application: "Headphone deamon pauses the media player when headhones are unplugged."

To get ogg and flat support you only need to download extra decoders support. Short description: Support for additional video and audio decoders in the Media Player * Vorbis OGG and FLAC support (via ogg-support)

Hey man, good review! Could you answer a question for me?

I am thinking of getting this mainly, somewhat because of the 32GB + 16GB microSD memory to compensate for not having to buy an iPod.

If I had a good enough pair of ear phones, would it be alright? I have been using my Nokia N95 8GB for the last two years as a music player keeping in mind, and have been happy/content with that, so if it is indeed better than the quality there, I think I should be fine. What is your opinion?

Dude i own an n95 and it sucks at sound quality, i think n900 is the same; just get an ipod touch, ipod classic 160GB if you need lots of GB, or a zune HD, those devices sound very well.

Yeah i've been eyeing up a Classic, can't get a HD though because i'm english.

from what i have researched i have found that the N900 is very good at music play back. and theres no reason to have a dedicated mp3 player any more. at least with a N900 you can sell it for a good price when you eventually buy a new phone. if you buy a 32 gb ipod or zune for almost the same price as a N900. ya go the N900. its multi-functional, its at a good price. and it has a high re-sell value.

Yeah man it did. The sound quality is better, but the features aren't as good as the n95 music player. Such as, you can't make playlists or edit names of songs or band names while on the phone.

dang, they're 2 functions that i used quite a fair bit too. apart from that though is the n900 more kick ass than the n95? the n95 is pretty damn awesome, except for the occasional lag.

I know man same, but seriously the phone is fucking great, you can multitask 7 programmes and it wont lag, and can view and switch through programmes with such ease. the browser on it is amazingly fast.

if you want to do everything on it, bring your charger with you to work/college/school for a little boost while you're on break, it does eat through battery, which is understandable

I have honestly never imported gigs upon gigs of music into my N900. However, Trent of Trents Sense (youtube name absolon3) said his N900 had no problem handling his enormous music library. Hope that helps!
