thank you:) i was probably looking for a complicated reason . Maybe that's why i didn't get it. It would have been normal for vera to tell lombard(when she already knew that lombard wasn't the killer and became the possesor of the gun), to tell him that she isn't the killer. But agatha cristie wanted by all means that the actions continie in that way: killing after that poem. the book was too dark in my opinion.

they knew from the beginning that one of them all is the killer... once they remained only two it was logical for them to believe the other one is the killer. that's why they wanted to kill each other :)
