I know it's just a cartoon, but at 0:49 Alex seems to be able to jump out of the quicksand, which is quite a feat,
and that branch doesn't seem to conform to the laws of leverage... a small girl close the fulcrum can bend the branch but a fully grown woman and her son at some distance from it (held down by 'quicksand') aren't enough to keep it bent?
Of course maybe the native girl is packing some seriously heavy objects in her outfit, although she still seems quite nimble!

So, I've realized in quicksand from cartoons: First they sink really fast, then they start sinking quickly, but in different intervals i guess. Like, they sink, then they don't. Then, someone comes to save the day and the cartoon now becomes boring...
