How outrageous. An illegal takeover of presidential rule by force IS a coup, whether a military general takes control or a non-elected official. The argument that its not a coup because Micheletti isn't military is spurious & specious. THAT'S the kind of 'evidence' used to justify this seizure as 'legal'. The issue here is elites depriving the mass public from full choice & participation in gov. Zelaya has done MUCH more to improve the lot of the people then decades of corrupt US interference.

It was NOT a coup. The military are NOT in power. The congress, the courts, and every other democratic institution remains in place. The military carried out orders to oust the criminal president from office and exile him in order to prevent bloodshed. No loss of life yet in Honduras. Chavez had infiltrated his people in Honduras to destabilize the government. Get your facts straight diffidation, you imbecile.

If you knew the Constitution of Honduras you wouldn't be saying "as the Constitution allows". First of all, yes there is a procedure for such consultation, but it has to be proposed by the people, and not promoted by the president, as was the case. Secondly, this "consultation" has to be sent to Congress. Last, no referendums can be made 6 months PRIOR to elections, that is the main reason why the Judicial Courts deemed it INCONSTITUTIONAL!!!
