I give most of my music away for free under a creative commons license for non commercial use. I am happy that people want to download my music and share it. But if you can afford to pay, and would like to help me, and other struggling artists like me to make a living, then why not consider some of the alternatives, for example…. (See my post below, and thankyou, we need your help and support.)
I say come up with a contract agreement for independent artists and make sure they music aint sample and make sure its all original have them fill out the contract agreement have them wave the mechinal royalties and also stating you dont owe them any money any way shape or form
Getting "real" music costs a lot of money. And if you wanna put your indie films in the festivals, you can get in a lot of trouble for having "real" music without permission.
"Real" as in take the time to budget for a composer. Why go thru conceptualizing, writing, casting, rehearsing, shooting, and editing only to use library tacks (which start at around $90 bucks pr cue for worldwide usage) or some lame , generic music auto-generation software? Music and promotion happen at the tail end , so don't be caught without funds to do it right.
