  • That is a good looking 8820. Those are great machines. You have that one purring like a cat.

  • nice video of the good ole 20 series at work loved it

  • will a 8820 handle a 30 foot grain head

  • Definitely. The 22 foot flex head isn't big enough. It can handle much more.

  • Watching this video makes me calm and quiet^^

  • Just came across this randomly, and being a huge Miami Vice fan was thrilled to hear Crocketts Theme! Ha, that was a surprise!

  • How did you attach the camera to where it is shooting

  • soybean harvest is my favorite time of year we have 400 acres of our own and custom pick anuther 1000 acres of beans with a deere 9610 I dont know what it is about the beans but its cleaner than wheat and less troublesome than corn were picking corn right now have mabey 1500 acres to go

  • why dont you get a garin cart if you have to combines

  • Now are you getting rid of the dead stalks, or are you picking the beans as well?

  • clayfarmer good video best bean harvest on youtube 5/5 add me plz

  • Nice job...love the camera angles...Ontario Canada

  • nice 8820's that's what I learned with

  • Are getting a better yield planting 30' beans?

I like your off-road truck(4:51), is it road legal and what make it is? Sorry for all the questions Im just intrested.

  • I would say I get better emergence when planting on ridges. The soil is very sticky and we need all the help we can get to get it warmer and drier. Usually out a few days before the neighbors. Yields are as good, if not better o 30" rows. We don't own a drill so it will be 30" for a while yet. Less disease problems as well. Less trampling, less seed, better fertilizer placement, etc.

  • The truck is a Mercedes Benz Unimog. It is legal for agricultural purposes, but nothing else. Not sure what we'd do without it.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • Clayfarmer, what is the first song in this video? I really love it. This is the kind of music I listen to the most. Combines also react rather positively to it, too.

I love the views of the various views and parts of the combine itself, too. You've done a great justice to your beloved John Deere 8820!

  • CombineWizard, Thank you for the kind words. The first song is a theme song from Miami Vice the TV series. I can't recall the actual name, but I believe it was called "Sonny's theme song" or something similar. It's very hard to find instrumental songs to put into videos.

  • Clay, if you also look at your personal messages, I have some goodies for you.

  • One more question, did you enclose the camera with a plastic bag to keep out the dust as much as possible, or?

neatly tied together pictures. Thanks again.

  • Not at all. The camera was 2 years old, so in todays world obsolete. I was at the point where if I lost it, I would have bought a new one. Well everything went well and the camera is still in operation today. In case you're wondering the camera was a Sony DSC32, a 3.2 Megapixel camera.

  • Nice to see the old stuff being used old rules new is shit :)

  • Great perspective shots!! Very creative and insteresting. I haven't seen anyone else get those shots in any of the other combine videos I've watched. Well done. Great Video!

  • Ok, that makes total sense now. Great editing, you must have spent a lot of time getting it so smooth.

  • Is there some reason you had to add music while completely obliterating the machinery audio? Very large negative for me, but the video was very polished, excellent job of putting that all together. It would be great if you could post this with the normal audio as well.

What kind of camera and mount did you use for that? Very interesting from all the different positions you used.

  • Thanks. I tried putting the video together with the original sound , but the noise was so weird that it didn't resemble the combine at all.

I just used a regular camera with a threaded port at the bottom and fastened it to a piece of flat stock bent into a "U". I then used Vice Grips to hold it to the combine.
