@djkikis i couldn't disagree more - i love graham, and every song blur did with him... but thinktank is a beautiful change, i think they deviated away from the more poppy songs into these fantastic chilled songs- i think your kind of missing the point of this album, they could have easily hired someone to fill the sound out but it doesn't need to,,, this album has such an original and interesting vibe with it - its great.
Sure its opinion, if you just prefer poppier songs then thats cool
@djkikis So what about most people? Dont make your opinions on what others think!
And no, it doesn't sound empty, your logic is flawed anyway because there is still a lead guitar, its the song not the performance - nothing to do with Graham, or lack of Graham
And to answer your question, Blur recently met up and did some fantastic gigs, but Blur came to a natural end (which is good, nothing worse that a good band going bad through churning out samey crap)
That's not Graham. It's Simon Tong, who has previously played with The Verve, and also played with Damon in The Good The Bad & The Queen. Graham left the band during the recording of the "Think Tank" album, he only played on one song.
@PantheonLincoln Don't forget that Damon also recruited Simon Tong to play guitar in all three Gorillaz albums. Damon has also handpicked him to be the rhythm guitar player in the upcoming Gorillaz tour.
think tank is a good album but im sure it would of been alot better guitar wise with grahams input. if you look at every other blur album each one has some stand out riffs on them ie theres no other way.,parklife, song 2, and many more but saying that damon is the man
Graham is not like John Squire to the Stone Roses. Damon Albarn is pretty much the master of blur. Altho Graham is also an important piece. I mean Blur can continue without Graham unlike when the Roses really can't without John.
joke. it's Simon Tong Ex-Verve. i joked that 'looked' like Dave Grohl drumming for Nirvana (which he is of course) and people thought i was actually serious! anyway, apparently Blur fans are a bit smarter :)
I love this song, it's quite haunting. But just realised it really reminds me of a Leonard Cohen song, I can't think which. maybe it's just the general style.
Funny how life works out, two weeks ago you would have thought that they would never be back. Now, the sky is the limit. Can't wait to see what happens from now till this summer. I have the feeling that they may be recording some things before the Hyde Park gig.
Yeah you're right, specifically the much overlooked 'Lodger' album. 'Think Tank' is a sublime album minus the major misstep that is 'Crazy Beat.' Also the album comes 'Bowie' approved!
Damon has always played some of the guitar parts for Blur even on their first records (Blur first relesed a single in 1989).He's no graham coxon but still a trained classical guitarist so enless u lot r don't mock the solo
The "numpty" is Simon Tong from The Verve/Gorillaz and The Good the Bad and the Queen project. He was not involved in the recordings for Think Tank but helped out on tour. Greaqt chav.

@corpsemunger well Blur were considered to be Pop geniuses so................... Most ppl that are into blur are aware and love them for that...

Damons first guitar input was not until 1997 on the self titled album and blur's first single was in 1990 (she's so high).
