  • their best song without graham

  • perfection

  • his voice has such a rich tone in this performance, really really good, they've been with me my whole life and i fucking love Blur.

  • Damon is a killer guitar player

  • Gah, his voice kills me.

  • no graham no blur.. guys a fkin genius.. look how empty it sounds :S

  • @djkikis i couldn't disagree more - i love graham, and every song blur did with him... but thinktank is a beautiful change, i think they deviated away from the more poppy songs into these fantastic chilled songs- i think your kind of missing the point of this album, they could have easily hired someone to fill the sound out but it doesn't need to,,, this album has such an original and interesting vibe with it - its great.

Sure its opinion, if you just prefer poppier songs then thats cool

  • @corpsemunger well Blur were considered to be Pop geniuses so................... Most ppl that are into blur are aware and love them for that...

im just saying how empty this performance sounds...

Anyways where are Blur now? now that graham's gone.....

  • @djkikis So what about most people? Dont make your opinions on what others think!

And no, it doesn't sound empty, your logic is flawed anyway because there is still a lead guitar, its the song not the performance - nothing to do with Graham, or lack of Graham

And to answer your question, Blur recently met up and did some fantastic gigs, but Blur came to a natural end (which is good, nothing worse that a good band going bad through churning out samey crap)

    It's not cos Graham left

  • @TheStandofTheLastGuy I think he actually left by choice, not because he was kicked out

  • damon looks amazing in a suit! he should wear them more often.....although this was 7 years ago but nevertheless he is still amazing!

  • of the 55,000 odd views, i'm somewhat certain i'm responsible for at least half. i could listen to this song all day.

  • @goingmadrider this is after graham had left

  • best band ever.

  • Love that solo!

  • this is my overall fave blur song . and im a huge blur fan

  • Great.

Damon is one of the biggest artist in the world.

  • But if we start dreaming now

Lord knows we'll never leave the clouds

  • Beautiful.

  • feel the sunshine on your face.....

  • One of the best singles of the decade for sure.

  • He's got the coolest voice ever.

  • he did it. i´m smiling again^^

  • what guitar is graham using?

  • That's not Graham. It's Simon Tong, who has previously played with The Verve, and also played with Damon in The Good The Bad & The Queen. Graham left the band during the recording of the "Think Tank" album, he only played on one song.

Simon is playing a Fender Mustang here.

  • @PantheonLincoln Don't forget that Damon also recruited Simon Tong to play guitar in all three Gorillaz albums. Damon has also handpicked him to be the rhythm guitar player in the upcoming Gorillaz tour.

  • Damon sounds like Bowie a bit here. Great vocals.

  • ARE GONE !

  • good voice here

  • think tank is a good album but im sure it would of been alot better guitar wise with grahams input. if you look at every other blur album each one has some stand out riffs on them ie theres no other way.,parklife, song 2, and many more but saying that damon is the man

  • Graham is not like John Squire to the Stone Roses. Damon Albarn is pretty much the master of blur. Altho Graham is also an important piece. I mean Blur can continue without Graham unlike when the Roses really can't without John.

  • Awesome

  • Saw Blur live and Damon did not miss a note. He's a God among men.

  • Yeah. I swear that guy is an angel.... Beautiful voice and a body to match

  • No wayyyyy, Blur is not Blur without Graham! Sorry Damon.....and thanks for the the summer gigs coming!

  • amazing... Pure perfection!

  • its not graham he'd left the band by this time...

  • that bass used to belong to Oasis

  • graham looks different

  • joke or?

  • joke. it's Simon Tong Ex-Verve. i joked that 'looked' like Dave Grohl drumming for Nirvana (which he is of course) and people thought i was actually serious! anyway, apparently Blur fans are a bit smarter :)

  • Great song!

  • wow this is almost a bit radiohead!

and btw, not to knocka great band, but has anyone noticed how blur always loop their intros, so (imho) theyre always twice as long as is necessary?

  • amazing .makes you realise to a degre i guess.pure brilliant song

  • Wheres the love song to set us free

Too many people down, everything turning the wrong way round

    Greatest lyircs ever

  • I love this song, it's quite haunting. But just realised it really reminds me of a Leonard Cohen song, I can't think which. maybe it's just the general style.

  • DAMON ALBARN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song wasnt made with Graham was it?

  • Nope, it wasn't. It's a good song, but I think it would have been better with a nice Graham Coxon-riff.

  • i agree

    XD

but the song's awesome enough as it is

  • love blur, they are great, and the last album, is wondeful, hope they meet again, for at least one more cd, or maybe more:D

  • I hope too, but it seems it's over :(

However Damon Albarn is still a great, he is really talented, a great musician.

  • Funny how life works out, two weeks ago you would have thought that they would never be back. Now, the sky is the limit. Can't wait to see what happens from now till this summer. I have the feeling that they may be recording some things before the Hyde Park gig.

  • a beautiful song a true classic

  • For me, this is withouth any doubt the greatest blur's song

  • Agreed. For all the big poppy hits... they've nothing else as raw and emotional as this.

  • just try another time,

    when you´re relaxed after working/studying,

    just let it play....

it will conquer you at all

  • wtb graham

  • lol u play video games dont you?

  • Awesome

  • Self-aggrandising, horrendous logical fallacy masquerading as a "comment".

  • fake tragic poet shut up

  • I always thought the Solo was played on a Sitar

  • what a fucking song

  • whos the other guitarist.

  • simon tong from the verve, gorillaz and the good the bad & the queen

  • son of a bitch!

  • I can hear David Bowie in this

  • I agree...too much like Bowie but still good

  • Yeah you're right, specifically the much overlooked 'Lodger' album. 'Think Tank' is a sublime album minus the major misstep that is 'Crazy Beat.' Also the album comes 'Bowie' approved!

  • yeah sure...rock n roll...

  • what the fuck are they then?

  • BLUR is not a rock'n roll band.

  • theres no need to specificate man

  • Damon has always played some of the guitar parts for Blur even on their first records (Blur first relesed a single in 1989).He's no graham coxon but still a trained classical guitarist so enless u lot r don't mock the solo

  • Damons first guitar input was not until 1997 on the self titled album and blur's first single was in 1990 (she's so high).

  • The "numpty" is Simon Tong from The Verve/Gorillaz and The Good the Bad and the Queen project. He was not involved in the recordings for Think Tank but helped out on tour. Greaqt chav.

  • blur are amazing.

p.s i covered this song, please check it out and gimme some feedback.

    thanks!

  • blur in one of their finest moments

  • so, he's been playing the guitar for the last ten years, or more, without a clue what's he been doing?

  • damon learned how to play guitar during the recording in morocco.

    true

  • well then how's he been playing the guitar for the last ten years, or more?

  • yeah,, maybe some chords.

but now he's playing full time

  • hardly full time - he is just strumming

  • my 11 months old baby plays my acoustic in that way too, is he a guitar hero? :)

  • yes ,ur baby he is ~~:)

  • wow, i didn't know that damon was that good at guitar!

  • damon isnt playing there. but he played guitar on the album cause graham left

  • lol

  • Awesome! This was the performance that put me in love with Blur. Thanks for the up!

  • i love this song and damon albarn has a wonderful voice

  • Please somebody post the studio verion of this great tune from this great band.

  • he sounds so different from when he was younger..hot

  • thank you this video made my day.

  • excellent vid! thanks!

  • This is a great performence, I like the song a lot. And I can't help but notice how much Damon sounds like David Bowie in this song.

  • Best live version of this song I've heard :)

  • I find that for some reason, bands always sound better on Letterman. I've got a playlist in my profile highlighting that fact.

  • I've noticed that too...it's weird

  • Love love love! thanks so much for submiting this!

  • "Where's the love song to set us free?"

  • that line says it all!
