@barcha10 I met this person on youtube who is Rom and he says that the Rom DID originate in India. At least that is the first documented one. No, not all Roma are Indian. Roma are wanderers. How could they ALL be ONE ethnic group? They are fromm ALL over the world. And...the Roma I know don't refer to themselves as "gypsies". The problem today though, is people like you who are rude and don't explain things in a peaceful way to the gaje. Practice love and spread knowledge.

Since everyone here loves to debate...Let me say that there are different KINDS of gypsy dances. Gypsies were nomads and depending where the tribe is from, the dance was different. There are slow dances, fast, passionate, and the ones that simply involved nothing but spinning and flaring of the skirt. So....this girl's dance is considered a gypsy dance. Modern street gypsy dances are performed similarly to this one. Now, performances of gypsy dances, of course, look a LOT better!

As for the dance: If this is any kind of Gypsy dance, it looks pretty lame in comparison to others I have seen. This appears to be one of those staged for tourists kind of shows. Maybe she just isn't very good. It reminds me of something out of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, or like something a five year old would do.
