But the woman taking her off in your great clip is a very talented lady because she has, not only a lovely voice but she can manage sing out of tune on purpose and that IS difficult. Did you know that the real FFJ was in a taxi crash and she was going to sue the cab driver but, instead, sent him a box of cigars as she claimed that because of it she could sing a note higher! And you have to take into account, that the whole Video has no studio quality. Even the orchestra sounds very flat. But still uncomparabel to the numerous serious examples of the "Queen of Night" aria presented on youtube.
She is really GOOD! This is almost an exact copy of that amazing lady's talent - and it was a talent - not many people can make people laugh the way she did. BRAVO for posting this - I would love to know who she is. All the best, Suzy

Well, kudos for the singer for trying. For many sopranos it is extremely difficult if not impossible to sing this aria at all. Going up to high F did destroy some carriers in the past. Karajan interviewed Sumi Jo and mentioned the Queen of the Night aria may take away from the vocal chords bit by bit. Many great sopranos lost their voices by forcing their voices over their limit in the past.

I can't imagine this is a joke - one can't fake hoarseness like that in the highest register. I'm a lyric soprano who has had pretensions of coloratura ability. Sadly, no, not clean enough, and I can't consistently reach the F required in this aria - SO... I've played around with it for fun, and when I oversang, those highest notes came out kinda flat; not quite as flat as hers, but it's weird. I know better than to actually let anyone hear me fiddle with this aria. She didn't.

Here stands one headstrong but brave woman. She has learned the words, rehearsed and re-rehearsed, gives it a good try here and the result is, uhm, well, it's afwul, but is is a still recognisable as a go at singing, which is more than can be said for many an Idols competitor.
And, if I were to be honest, flawed as it is, the result is a lot better than I could or dared to manage. She is trying as best she can at a thing which is clearly beyond her abilities, but she gives it all she's got.
You've certainly got a point there. And have you noticed that her Youtube video's have attracted over a million views? If not admired for her singing, she must have some fascination for a very considerable number of people. I think that perhaps unconsciously they feel what you describe and experience some kind of admiration. Is was certainly a stunning performance..

It is possible - just - that she actually hears at a different pitch or pitches to the rest of us. Fauré suffered from this late in life - he heard low pitches a third lower, and high ones a third higher than true.

What I find annoying is that I would love to sing with an orchestra and this woman at this level of singing already gets that privelage.

I dont know how this is singing but she is a really good immitation of the origional Florence who was born in 1868 and the only recordings of her are from 78 rpm that have been put on cd
