it has the same amount of strings as a regular brainstring because there are 8 sides that have 3 buttons on them on the brainstring advanced which equals 24 and the regular brainstring has 6 sides with 4 buttons on them which also equals 24 but on the brainstring advanced, the strings are intersecting at odd angles which is more confusing and easier to mess up
I'd just call it 8 sides; it's a truncated isosohedron, right? (could be very wrong). But it's truncated, nonetheless. It's like saying the cube in the background has 8 sides, because you want to include the truncated sections. They really don't effect the puzzle for any practical purposes.
The advanced is easy and the original is probably........tooooooo easy

the cool thing is they sell this at a toy store in Indiana. really cool! but the bad news is they don't have the original brainstring :(
