  • @davidarliewilson Diana's not annoying him idiot you need to watch her tribute Brian whispered some sweet stuff in her ear and being her childhood crush she was just trying to get his attention

  • @coolsweetgroovy Wow, don't take it too personal, it just think Brian is trying to enjoy the tribute, and Diana keeps bothering him. just my opinion, "idiot" huh?

  • @davidarliewilson Ok you don't need to bite my head off it's just Diana Ross super excited to be inducted in with her childhood crush Brian Wilson Brian just looks annoyed because Melinda his secondwife(AKA that wax devil that keeps popping up) Brian only is his relaxed old self when Melinda isn't around

  • @coolsweetgroovy your lame!!

  • @davidarliewilson no I'm not

  • whats wrong with elvis costello

  • Having hootie & the blowfish was kindve a slap in the face to Brian Wison. They're a buncha goobers compared to Brian. I'm sorry, but they are. I'm sure there were a LOT of artist and bands who wanted to play that part, and hootie & the blowfish?!?! Give me a fuckin' break. Does that mean you're gonna have someone like ll cool j or elvis costello doing Paul McCartney's honor? It's just stupid.

  • Bob Ross? What an amazing artist he is. RIP BOB ROSS! I LOVE YOUR HAPPY LITTLE TREES!

  • Why does Brian look and act like a zombie in this? Is he stoned or something? He moves around like he is a robot or something.

  • @pittresident his past is well chronicled. No need to cover it here.

  • @pittresident It's Melinda wife number 2 Brian is always his self when she's not around

  • Diana who?

  • Having loved Brian my entire life, and being a southern California girl, this was incredibly moving. I love seeing the world and generations love him and honor him. He was and is probably the greatest American composer and musician of the 20th century. To me his is... and I thank God for him and his many gifts daily. I wish Carl was still here to have shared it with him.

  • The thing that is so awesome is seeing at 2:45 all the people stand up and treat it like a rock concert, which is EXACTLY the legacy that Brian Wilson would want for his fans. God Bless him. That moment right then exemplifies everything that any musician wants for their songs--for people to enjoy them and each other through the kinesthetic experience. Love Hootie for their great arrangement of California Girls here. Lovely treatment.

  • bush sure has rhythm cute

  • I get around is so so but the lead on California girls is very soulful

  • two nice touches ... the Pendleton shirts and the band doing the group bow at the end. Class.

  • Look at Bush, "I did my first line to this one.........yeah!"

  • its a messed up world

  • I never understood what was the big deal with Hootie (and still don't), but then again I feel that way about most of today's "artists."

  • Well Said 14gamecock, HOOTIE are just awesome, saw them at Rock City when they came over England a few years ago now and they were absolutely fantastic, Great Voice, Great Musicians.

  • terrible interpretation.

  • Too classy to do it, but Darius should have snuck in ....Carolina Girls , just once

  • God, I love the Beach Boys' music. Hootie really did a great job with covering these songs. How can anyone cover Beach Boys is anyone's guess, but they did a great job. I love their tribute. :)

  • Great comment 14 gamecock. All of it fact as well. Hooties voice is killer and crosses all genres!

  • Hootie and the boys are Americans who cares what colour they are. They did a great job on the covers with there own twist. No shame in what they did. Look at the crowd and even got brian involved. Dihanna was into it big time. If you don`t like it don`t watch it and move on. Nothing to critisize here as far as I am concerned !

  • lol George Bush....

  • I'm sure Bush remembers their music very well.

  • The Kennedy Center Honor awards for Brian Wilson and the best they could book was Hootie and the Blowfish!!?

  • You don't know what you are talking about. They have one of the best selling albums of all time, Cracked Rear View, which went platinum 16 times, they have won grammy's for best new artist among others. Even Garth Brooks denied accepting one of his grammys cuz he said Hootie should have won , so he left the award up on stage and didn't take it. Hootie was so well liked, the radios over played them. Even hootie got tired of hearing hootie. awesome voice, and great music. You just suck

  • Brian Wilson is depressed because music sucks now, and what he had is gone forever, the band, the 60's the youth, id be depressed too. Brian Wilson is a icon!

  • so weird seeing a black guy sing a beach boys song

  • He's not the only black person to go for the Beach Boys. You'd be surprised...

  • @snoops71 Yeah 2Pac did I Get Around Pastor Troy did Help Me Rhonda

  • @coolsweetgroovy I thought 2Pac's I Get Around was completely different.

  • Comment removed

  • @snoops71 It's a cover 2Pac just put his own spin on it

  • The toll the meds and depression have taken on him is terrible. But atleast he is back with us !!!!

  • weezadam not sure why they were invited either, but glad they were!!! Hootie and the boys really pulled this one off in every respect. Not sure what version I like best at this point the BB's oe Hooties. Great job!!!!

  • what i want to know is how Hootie and the Blowfish got the gig to perform in honor of Brian. No disrespect to HATB, but wtf?

  • These guys did a wonderful job. What a fine tribute to a huge talent. Great to see Brian getting recognition so long overdue. Good to see the audience so inspired and participating, too. Rock on Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter).

  • diana ross is havin a ball

  • Comment removed

  • @SunshynMaker wouldn't you be having a ball if you'd be next to Brian Wilson?

  • 1: 21 is scary

  • agreed lol

  • Another reason to love Hootie and the Blowfish!

  • Love it at the end when Brian does that famous Beach Boys sway when dancin' -- EXCELLENT!

  • Diana Ross smiled like her face was surgically fixed to stay like that lol. OH and that white guy with that HUGE eyebrow reminded me of Sean Connery ...somehow....

    Great crowd huh ;)

  • That's Martin Scorsese you dolt.

  • no, he means the guy sitting next to Brian with the creepy eyebrow

  • Leon Fleisher, pianist. heh i couldn't tell you anything else about him...

  • Comment removed

  • @jasonemilio you'd have that same look on your face if you'd be next your celeb crush duh

  • sweeeeeeet!

  • Oh boy. that was just really, really good.

  • Was this whole thing on Brian or just parts of it?

  • Every year, the Kennedy Center honors five or six key performers. This was 2007 and they honored Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese, Leon Fleisher, and Steve Martin. It's a pretty big deal...President attends, other key dignitaries, etc.

  • Every year, the Kennedy Center honors five or six key performers. This was 2007 and they honored Diana Ross, Martin Scorsese, Leon Fleisher, and Steve Martin. It's a pretty big deal...President attends, other key dignitaries, etc.

  • the audience was rockin' out!

  • Great job boys!

  • I love it. The first lady singing @ 3:15 and Robert DeNiro clapping off-beat at 3:22. Brilliant dedication! Libera kicked butt too!

  • After everything Brian Wilson has survived, do we really need to inflict him with Hootie & the Blowfish?

  • Hahahaha!

    I second that.

  • This awesome- thanks! I don't suppose you would also be able to upload the Leon Fleischer tribute??

  • In the course of five or six years in the 60's Brian Wilson created a sound that will have them dancing in the aisles 100 years from now. That is his genius, he created musical masterworks that also make people feel good.

  • Also, the pendelton button downs, white t-shirts and chino's were a MAGNIFICENT touch and very much early Beach Boys/The Pendeltons/Kenny and the Cadets. Again, great job Hootie and the Blowfish.

  • That should be Pendleton, not pendelton.

  • Um...thanks?

  • Hootie and the Blowfish did a superb job. I sat through the whole program waiting with great anticipation for Brian to be introduced. I was disapointed with Lovetts version my all time fave, God Only Knows, but Hootie and the Blowfish came to the rescue!

  • They did a fantastic job! Got everyone standing up and dancing. Really enjoyed this version of the BB classics.

Have to mention the great job by a background vocalist "Neal Coomer", he hit those high notes and nailed it! Congratulations!

  • Are the matching clothes and ode to the early version of the Beach Boys?

  • yes the pendleton shirts and chinos were an homage to the early stage clothing

  • Elf your 14 yrs old - what the hell do you know

  • What are you talking about I played in the Kennedy Center Honors for 2007 and their pre recorded stuff was really really bad. Besides what does it matter to you if I thought they were really bad and out of tune during their pre recording stuff.

  • Thank the maker you closed your account. moron.

  • Actaully I couldn't change my age... besides when was the last time that you actually read somthing on someones profile and actually thought it was true. I did play in the Kennedy Center Honors and I was on TV. I played with Mr. Laredo and Mr. Biss and I was in the Peabody Symphony Orchestra

  • Man it was so funny seeing all of those stars standing up and grooving to the music. Classic moment there and Kristin Chenoweth was enjoying herself too while dancing along.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • brian is awesome...

diana ross is still kinda hot

  • If it wasn't for Brian Wilson, Mike Love would still be pumping gas.

  • Rock on Brian, ( u dah man ) of pop music.
