  • @multirockman007. Slater OS from Florida, nit Texas.

  • It's all a work kids, but it's good to see they can still make it look real. It'a all due the great working ability of the wrestlers and these 2 were always great.

  • today's promoters can larn how to run an angle and a feud from watching these guys. Piper and Slater were both great.

  • Dick Slater and Roddy Piper; Who was the face & was the heel??????

  • classic Stuff i love Piper and Slater going nuts.

  • buuuuuuuu, so fake

  • @lemus5150 you're ignorant this was real they punched each others eyes out. whats fake about that?

  • so fake

  • Didn't they do the same thing on GCW?

  • Let them fight...Let them fight... Ohhh those were the days!

  • That Piper was one sick mutha...as big as Slater is he's no match for a human pit bull like Piper

  • Slater gets a little confused when he mentions the "Mid-South area" because this was in the Mid-Atlantic area.

  • tommy young was there for all the big matches.

  • Good fight, not as good as the one Piper had with Keith David in They Live, but good nonetheless.

  • Does anyone remember the day Blackjack Mulligan turned on RIc Flair and ripped Flair's $10,000 Robe? Is there a clip of it here?

  • @PanteraMark I remember it. But before the robe rip-up, Flair walked out and tore up BJ's 10-gallon hat. During the robe angle, Flair was wrestling Ted Oates, and Ted kept pulling him back into the ring as Flair was trying to get to Mulligan. I think that some of those old tapes have been destroyed, like the old days of GCW on TBS.

  • @mkl62 Oh yeah I remember that part when Flair tore up BJ's hat. I think the whole thing started when Flair had just won the US title from Tim Woods who beat Blackjack for it and Flair was running down Mulligan and BJ grabbed him and slugged him. I think Greg Valentine was there to.

  • @PanteraMark Flair said he didn't associate with losers like Mulligan, which angered him. That's where it started.

  • I love it! This is the best, when it was still called Pro. wrestling and not sports entertainment. Seems they did a lot more with a lot less money in those days.

  • I'm sure they all went out for a beer after this was all over.

  • well you're wrong dick slater and piper had legit problems with each other!

  • I love the studio fights much better than actual matches!

  • I met Dick Slater in 1985 and that is one tough son of a gun in real life but he is nice when he needs to be. He was the kind of person that would be nice to you until you ticked him off then watch out. In real life he told us how he despised Bob Orton JR. and Jerry Lawler even though he never told us why.

  • Man WTF happened to good classic wrestling like this?

  • mike graham , in an RF video shoot, told a story of back in the early 80s, slater wrestled bob orton (randy's dad) in a match but bob refused to sell for him, when slater asked him after the match why he did that, bob gave a smart ass answer bout slater not giving anything worth selling and thats when slater punched bob so hard is shot him clear out the locker room into the hallway , the lesson from this, be careful who you smart talk

  • Let me pick the brain of all the old school fans watching this and lets be honest: Dick Slater (who is one of the meanest and tough guys in the business according to most people) versus Undertaker in his American Bad Ass phase? Who wins?

  • @RSXemperor , cant comment on slater cause i never paid him much attention, but ill take bruiser brody against ANY of the Taker's phases

  • What an angle! Old school at its best!

  • I am sure when the whole mess goes back to the dressing room they a laughing and joking about what they just pulled in the ring..

  • you're wrong they don't all get along! asshole!

  • at :46 I guess Slater slips MidSouth in instead of MidAtlantic. MidSouth being a competing organization in Alabama and Pensacola areas.

  • @Bloomer28 Mid-South consisted of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Houston, Texas. Alabama was the Southeast Continental. They featured The Stud Stable with Ron Fuller, Jimmy Golden, and Jerry Stubbs.

  • I miss how the dressing room would come out to help

  • Slater was slated for a big run against Randy Savage for the IC Title in 86. In fact Vince McMahon praised Slater in front of the roster and talked about how hard he was working and the matches were getting good reviews at the house shows but unfortunately, Slater spoke his mind to Mr. Political himself Hulk Hogan and he was gone not too soon after that.

  • @RSXemperor They tried to re-package him as The Rebel, which didn't go over too well.

  • @RSXemperor Was very disappointed back then when Slater got buried. Always wondered what happened.

  • This was the idea to sell for the house showsyou hardly ever seen to superstars wrestle on tv they wrestled jobbers and sold their feuds for the house shows of whatever city the show was

  • @pattersongrove On Georgia, Gene & Ole Anderson would beat down 2 jobbers and continue to do so until the top faces like Mr. Wrestling I & II, or Thunderbolt Patterson, or Tony Atlas came out and The Andersons would bail. Then they would announce The Andersons vs. I & II at the house shows.

  • Slater had great facial expressions..was he gonna cry or take a poop or both???

  • see crap on todays wrestling...bunch of purty boys flying around everyone has to have a finishing move that they conveniently are able to pull off at end...I like the old days like this just freaking fighting...you really feel like these dudes hate each other and its not staged which of course it is but it comes off alot better IMO.

  • they really do hate each other att imes it's not all staged!

  • @oldschool6804 do you know why?

  • Pretty funny how the jobbers seem so half-hearted... and out of shape.

  • Does anyone have the piper match where he teams with a jobber and faces two other jobbers? Piper takes out the two jobbers then tags in his partner and beats him up too.

  • "GET BACK OUT HERE, PIPER! AND FIGHT ME LIKE A MAN!" damn, Dick Slater was makin a UUUGLY face when he said that! LMAO

  • Mid South???...It's Mid Atlantic!!

  • DAMN!!!!!.....i miss them old NWA days. i wish that nwa was still around using the same format of old like the different regions and the tv studios.

  • was after he was fired from Georgia Championship wrestling? I guess he was returning to Mid Atlantic.

  • I was thinking last night how Roddy piper would have went over in both world class and memphis. I think he would have ended up a great face in texas with the von erichs and a great heel in Memphis mocking lawler.

  • Piper would have gotten over in a big way no matter where he went. He was as big as Hogan at one time and might have even had a bigger buzz for a minute. He's also one of the best wrestlers turned actors. I'd say only second to Rock. Piper just had a star quality that was going to shine no matter where he was. And he was going to make sure he was in the spotlight.

  • You pretty much wrapped it up,I agree. And Piper has always been one of my favorite.Even those who didn't like him,you had to love to hate him...that make sense??-lol

  • was the heat between theme legit cuz it looks like some of those punches were a little stiff

  • Slater should have stabbed Piper like he did his girlfriend.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHGAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • They made this look so real

  • You could not get any tougher than Dirty Dick Slater

  • Comment removed

  • 'You could not get any tougher than Dirty Dick Slater'

Yeah, except for Roddy Piper. I love that he smacked Slater so hard his headband flew off. Piper is a legit black-belt street fighter that would've killed Slater if this were a real fight . This video is proof that Piper could back up his mouth with his fists.

It's criminal that Piper didn't get a World Title run in the WWF. Face or heel he always put asses in the seats.

  • I worked with Slater. He's as tough as any man that ever stepped between the ropes. Those were good stiff slaps he and Roddy were laying on each other. Piper is a legit tough guy also and I respect him immensely. I can tell you for a fact that those of us who've been in the ring have nothing but respect for Slater. They're both old school hardnoses. And I agree with you about Piper not getting a title run. Better worker and better interview than Hogan. He drew money as well.

  • did roddy and slater have heat with each other? it looked pretty real!

  • There's was never any legit heat between them that I ever heard about. They both are like Ronnie Garvin. They will work as stiff as you want. They'll take and sell what you give them but you'll get back as good as you give. When you're working TVs and setting up an angle for a 3 to 6 month program, you've got to make that initial contact look good. If I was the booker here, I'd have been very pleased with both of these guys. Your comment alone shows they did good work.

  • i heard rumors that tully blanchard and

magnum had heat, i htink magnum is married to tullys ex wife do you know if this is true? was this like a benoit sullivan deal?

  • Tully had heat with a LOT of people. He got that "Superbrat" nickname early on and it stuck. Magnum had a lot of heat too, but it was for being Dusty's boy. Harley Race beat the living snot out of Magnum in a match because Dusty booked Magnum to go over on Harley, and Harley wasn't putting up with that. I hadn't heard anything about a Tully/Magnum love triangle, but it wouldn't surprise me. Tully's done a lot of changing since he left the business, very very different man now than he was then.

  • Baby Doll and Tully have both said in shoots that Tully and Magnum hated each other and had no bones about stiffing the shit out of each other.

  • @VinnyV444 absolutely he is king here in oregon and all over the northwest including seattle and vancouver bc.

  • Superb, now this is how wrestling should be

  • "..and don't talk too close because I know you've got bad breath.." ahhh, the timeless art of interview subtlety ...lol

  • 'Times up!' LOL!

  • lol

  • Everybody knows Piper but you have to see Dick Slater to know how good he was. He never got the push he deserved and will go down as one of those guys who had the talent but never caught the break to be World champ for whatever reason(Dibiase, Rude, Jake Roberts, Butch Reed).

  • Brilliant..slater was way underrated, should have gotten at least a cup of coffee with the world belt..he could talk, he could wrestle, he could brawl..spent time in Florida, JCP, Missouri, worked programs with Flair/Rhodes/Piper...along with DiBiase, I think Slater deserved a world title run, maybe even throw Muraco into the conversation..

  • This is the Roddy Piper I know not that WWE Piper

  • damn they locked that shit up!!!!

  • Piper did commentary in georgia and MidAtlantic wrestling obviously

  • @MeAndMyRC They had feuded in Georgia a year earlier, but Slater was the face and Piper the heel. Slater said that he chased Piper into the women's restroom and that he never came back out. Classic. This was a continuation of this feud.

  • lol, god I love this stuff.

  • Well, I guess the scheduled match, Johnny Weaver & Tommy Gilbert vs. Red Dog Lane & Pvt. Jim Nelson, never took place. Nelson would do a face turn, revealing himself as a mole vs. Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle. Ah, the good ol' days. Whatever happened to Red Dog Lane? He seemed to be one of those "couldn't quite get a break" guys.

  • ...Nelson would do a face turn, revealing himself as a mole vs. Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle...

Which I'll be posting in the next two days or so.

  • popculturestu you are freakin awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Anybody got more clips like this from the old days of wrestling?

  • This was fun back then, the locker rooms clearing to separate a fight.

  • Uh, Slater doesn't know where he is. He said Mid-South; different teritory, dude.
