I tried landing a CRJ700 according to directions in this tutorial. It didn't work. Just a note to any other fellow newbies: find a different tutorial.
THAT IS A RUBBISH LANDING! to do pro landings you must DISENGAGE the autopilot AND THE AUTOTHROTTLE at 200' AGL, not on short final, preventing the pilot having to do violent moments at the controls, otherwise, a good ILS approach! it really does help to do ILS checkrides in the learning centre!
Got damn! That was a very hard landing. Try this. The approach speed at final for a CRJ 700 should be at 140 KIAS. Flaps set 45 degrees, and auto throttle disabled at "outer marker" . This gives you time to glide ever so smoothly on the runway.
You can turn off your Nav1 call button, after it identifies the airport, so you don't have to deal with the annoying "BEEP" sound throughout your approach!
First off, you only ident the ILS on your approach briefing, secondly, the CRJ does not have autoland, which is a CATIIIa or CATIIIb approach, 3rdly, autopilot is used to bring the airplane down to minimums which from there is a slow power reduction to idle and followed by a smoothe slight flare.....try it out and you will see.....chek my video :)
I just try it, and I notice that it not, automatically put the plane down, you need to manually control the altitude then when you are above runway just TURN OFF autopilot and hold your altitude manually then slowly decrease power that way you can Flare.
@flightsharks Yeah, and I was wondering why CRJ700 can't land on autopilot with ILS instructions on. Thank you. So all you can do is to fly by GPS nav till you reach area near airport, than turn off autopilot and try to land manually in CRJ?
no CRJ's have autoland. You have to take off the APP mode by 80 feet. Most aren't even certified to do cat II's and III's. Other than that nice video.
I have a lot of trouble landing at times. I have to use several instruments and tools at the same time, which isn't easy to do in this game even with shortcuts. It would be nice if the graphics weren't so damn choppy when landing. Also I cant seem to get gps to update regularly, sometimes I set it and it doesnt update where I am. I love this game but god I think microsoft could have done better!
I do not think that CRJ, leerjet, A321, B737 nor B747 automatically descend and ILS autoland on default FSX planes. You need a gauge or payware (such as FMC) to manage perfectly autoland.
But it is possible to make the plane lands automatically, and default planes with ILS radio can manage autoland even without ILS CATIII runway.
Strange FSX and there is no official manual for this game...
I have some problem with crj700 ils approach too. Of course, you can land manually using ils as a navigation reference. But with others plane i can land automaticly.
So will it only work for the crj700 once you are in the green ils feather? that wuold explain its uncontrollable decent, if it has to be in the feather. so... does it? cuase it just keep crashing for me, and I don't know why, I did it right once before but I don't remember how!!!
I tried many different things according to some ILS tutorial videos on YT, but none seemed working well.
Descending ALT manually and flying right onto the edge of ILS signal. Beep sound simply does not do anything - absolutely confusing.
I use GPS nav (by setting it right into the runway manually on the flight plan before or during the flight. Set the plan and WP right on the start of ILS, so that on the "kneeboard" - NAV LOG, I can see the right ALT for the runway.
How did you now collapse the landing gear on that one? Jesus Christ, maintain the decent rate until 15-20 feet above the runway, then slowly pitch back only a few degrees as you idle the throttles!
Main gear hits ground, and KABOOM from hard landing!

That ILS isn't automatically doing the alltitude, is he?
nielsiej12 1 year ago
sorry, but this is NOT an autoland, it's just a standard ILS landing. so by definition, you should've disconnected the autopilot on minimums at max.
Besides that, i don't know why the autopilot took you so short into the runway

I dont understand the point of ILS Autoland if you take the autopilot off near the runway
shaalin23 2 years ago
You turn it off to be able to flare the plane a bit. It makes a touchdown much smother that way.
nomad1545 2 years ago
Yeah but does it matter if you keep it on?
shaalin23 2 years ago
No, not at all, but you put the gear in to some rought times if you don't flare a bit.
nomad1545 2 years ago
autoland should be called 'autoapproach' because you only approach the runway automatically and you have to flare and land manually
Boralaentaogente 2 years ago
well right as your above the runway if you take it off i mean like a few feet above you have enough time to flare which this guy did very bad

The beep is used as a morse code identifier for the ILS antenna. You should be able to disable it by clicking on the nav radio in the audio panel.

did the autopilot line up with the runway and do all that stuff?
BobbyJEL101 3 years ago
To line up the final approach before ILS autolanding, normally GPS navi which easily can be set and edit on the flight plan module.
Practically, ILS autoland is only last 2NM (or 2800ft - runway or so)
