never heard of these guys before, and I'm 17.. but I've been listening to them all day. I was definitely born in the wrong time. it's so FRUSTRATING to live with the music of today and then find things like this!!!
we need this band back. we need nirvana back. we need blind mellon. we need grateful dead. I guess death wont be ALL that bad because there is a whole lot of better bands up there than there is down here. No instead we are given laddy blah blah and poop daddy. I'm going to drop some acid right now and pretend I'm not here for the next 8 hours. LEGALIZE WEED!!!!!!!!!!! And just one more thing..just kidding I need to take a bong hit so have fun and dont buy into shity music. peace everybody!!!
A failed attempt to watch this video makes YouTube think you're watching it over and over again, so it makes you watch an ad even though there was no ad on the first attempt. YouTube = HULU = Vevo.
Tim was a great dude, the whole scene back then was just awsome, Hagfish, Toadies, Nixons, and Tripping Daisy. And if ever you wanted to hang out with these guys just go to Bill's Records on Spring Valley.
Ive watched 2 of theyre shows at Montreal, both with only few months between and i always remembered we were the ones where they were the most loved compare to USA. I remember them pretty much, awesome shows and true they should be there again.. farewell and thanks Tripping Daisy for your musics
Hey VEVO get your shit together if I have to suffer through your fucktard commercials then at least list all the vids by a band. You are seriously lacking in the tripping daisy department
We kind of had our own Seattle scene at one point here in the D/FW: The Toadies, Tripping Daisy, Spin Doctors, Edie Brickell and Lisa Loeb. I remember when Toadies and Tripping Daisy would play together at Trees. Damn, those were some great shows!
@jram415 Ned's Atomic Dustbin played at Trees, even. When times are good, you know it, but damn- why did it have to be followed by the likes of what there is now?
Was so weird after seeing them play in front of thousands in dallas to a handful of people at clubs in colorado after i moved there, but what a treat. They have always been first class gracious and humble!!! Thanks Tim
I remember we used to play the "tour" in Dallas/FW... and we used the same practice facility as they did (or one of them anyway). Our bass player comes in one day and says "Holy @#P#), T-D's next door!!" Of course, by this time, they were a legend.
So, we interrupted their practice and got to hang out with them for about 20 minutes. Really cool group of guys. Sure made our practice better and more inspired that night!!
Saw them at the CBGB in... 92? 93? They were touring Bill. I came from France on a trip to America and saw more good bands in three weeks there than here in 10 years. They were intense and they looked dangerous and fun. Beautiful but short gig.
Deep Ellum in the late 80's an early 90's was something! Also over in Ft worth at The Hop bye TCU i saw them. Never forget the first time i heard blown away; it was on Q102(anyone remember it?) about 4 in the morning. I sang it for weeks before they caught on on radio. Remember when "X" was legal?...on the bars in bowls and Edie Brickel was on stage. Wonder how many trips i took in Ellum???The Trees and Club Clearview were my faves.
@xXBRAP44Xx That's great. Rest In Peace to your (Dad's) cousin (your second cousin?) They've made some great music people all over including myself have enjoyed since the mid 90's. (I'm 28)
@montrosederek I don't know, they are definitely up there. I'll go with The Toadies (even though they are from Ft. Worth, it's all D/FW) then Tripping Daisy then Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. Damn, remember when D/FW had their own Seattle scene when we had Toadies, Tripping Daisy and The Nixons?

I say that because they put out several albums, whereas the Toadies had Rubberneck, then the lead singer went on to suck as a burden bro.
Pantera would be in my top three, but Metal isn't my favorite genre.

I just upped a Tripping Daisy video from Late Night with Conan in 1993. Enjoy:
Unfortunately, YouTube won't let me post the link. You'll have to search on Tripping Daisy Conan and maybe throw in a "Bill"
