beautiful dog.. i have a golden also he is a little over a year old.. i was wondering how old until they are too old to learn to hunt? he listens fantastically. just wondering. thanks
@52Cody No, your dog isn't too old. If it is birdy and has a great will to please, there is something to do with it ! A good method, well adapted to its temperament and you'll build a working retriever !
great video man, i have a golden also, trying to get her trained well and have her listen, its a bit difficult because she is a puppy but we are working on it
iv been having trouble trying to get my golden to stay by my side when we are walking through the woods, she likes to run ahead and sniff things out, but its only sometimes that she does it.. or when she is excited, any tips?
What a good dog! My dad borrows my Irish setter for that job and she doesn't like the water all that much if it's cold. I had a golden before and she didn't mind even if there were ice floas floating about in the water.
Great dog. I had a golden retreiver for 15 years. Her name was Spot...more of a golden fetcher: if she could "fetch" the duck, she wouldn't exactly bring it back. hahaha. If I wanted the duck, I'd have to shoot the dog, and fetch her. But Spot was too cute and funny to do that. I'm going to buy another one or two someday.
Thanks for your comment ! Not all retrievers are willing to give what they fetch if not properly trained... ahahah ! If you ever consider getting another golden, have a look at redgolden com
Too long forgotten that Goldens are gundogs... hope to make them be seen as much as possible in Hunt Tests and Working Certificates and show how they can be hot as well as good companions ! Thanks for your comment !

Unless your dog has a reliable recall, keep her on a lead. Unless you're competing, there's no reason for a formal heel.

Nice to see someone using goldens. You don't see much of that around my neck of the woods.
