I got a question. Is there any possibility I could take the GED if I decided to willingly dropout from my school ( I am from Northern Europe) and travel to the US?
How did you do on your Social Studies test? Did you study? I heard that you do not have to study for the Social Studies test because it is just reading comprehension skills. Supposedly, you only have to study for 2 tests, Writing & Math...
@ImBabyBunny as a home school student in the state of NH I was required to get my ged in order to move onto college. So if your state is similar to mine, whether or not you finish your Homeschooling curriculum you my be required to take the GED to prove that you've done equivalent to high school. If I were you I would take it.

When you held it up I had the biggest smile on my face too :) I was put into school very late ( age 8) went to a private christian school for 7 years, they completely screwed me over with credits....I am 17 exactly 2 years behind and I am now considering getting a GED so I can get my life started. @ImBabyBunny do the classes cause some places dont look at GED as equal to HSD. Im from another country and GED was my only option since i was to old for HS again so got GED. now im working on 15 college credits for the military cause they for example dont think its equal to a HSD.

I suffered from severe depression in high school so i had to drop out from the 10th grade and now im 24 years old feeling much better i know it took along time but im starting to live my life again and im getting my ged soon there is nothing wrong any of this ,,,and by the way i heard the oldest college student is 82 years old from chinna lol so yeah hopefully it wont take me that long lol and also u do not need to be educated in a classroom u can educate urself by simply reading books .

Idk if it changes by what state you live in, but I dropped out my freshman year of high school because I moved to Mexico, and That was years ago, and I just got my GED yesterday and my average score was 632. If you can pass 8th grade and have common sense you'll probably do great.

@tortolene If your a year away from Graduating from HS, why not stay in? A HS Diploma looks better on applications then a GED does, no offense to any of you. I know times can be tough and people stop going to high school, but you're very close and I would just stay in and get your diploma.
The fact that I passed the FIRST TIME I TOOK IT just a few days ago, with BARELY STUDYING proves I am smarter then alot of high school seniors. Feels great!

i dont know but you shuoldnt have to take classes..you can take it whenever you want.you can still take it during highschool but if you pass you wont recive it till your 18..
No you cannot take the G.E.D test online I took it here in Georgia i studied for a month and went to some free prep classes It was not that hard i suggest study and it will be easy.
just go to a adult ed center and register theyll help you get ur ged. dnt know of anything of doin it online. dnt thkn they have that online. but u go there adn thyll help u out. GO FOR IT. just passed all my tests. u can do it. reply back for more info
GED is harder than a High School Diploma. Anyone can breeze through high school without ever learning anything. I for one know. I dropped out as a senior and I don't remember a thing about high school, and I had straight A's!
Being smart isnt about a piece of paper anyways. I got my GED and now I have a computer programming degree now, and one thing I can tell you is I learned more on my own than any instructor in college could teach me. Those classes were a waste of time and money.
well i dont know about where you live but in RhodeIsland you need a High school Diploma or GED just to work at Wendys... or be in school. but yea do ya thing make your money but make sure you get some education in life
Who says you can't get into an Ivy league university with a ged? Yes you can. The only Ivy league schools that don't accept ged from what I know of is Princeton and Brown.
Yale, Upenn, Harvard, Dartmouth and Cornell don't require a High School diploma for admission. Columbia requires a High school diploma but accepts geds.
My point, most universities in America don't require a high school diploma.
Congratulations on getting your G.E.D, to all people out there that think the G.E.D is for loser's or slacker's, well it's not. Bill gates dropped out of high school and got his G.E.D, also according to statistics only 60% of highschool seniors can pass the G.E.D test. They have gradually been making the test's harder to pass aswell. Back in the 70's and 60's there was an age limit and you could attend a univeristy without HSD or GED, many ppl got their Bachelor's that way. Dont hate!

i got my GED just a month ago, I am planning to attend college in a few months as for right now i'm looking for a part time job to pay for my intuition, It does feel good once you accomplish it. It really did boost my confidence

dude its funny because i passed a ged math test once but i they made a mistake an gave me the same math test the year before that which was like booklet J an they screwed me saying i had to take it again because they messed up...so they fuckd me because i guess they think i remembered all the answers to the booklet J test like wow right

McGill in Montreal (the 7th Ivy League College) also accepts GED's but they have also taken non-graduates as well with high references.

to get a ged in NY do u have to make it to a certain age or be in a specific grade?do u have to drop out of high school and take specific ged classes? because i know a ged and a high school diploma are different pls respond

i dont know but you shuoldnt have to take classes..you can take it whenever you want.you can still take it during highschool but if you pass you wont recive it till your 18..

No you cannot take the G.E.D test online I took it here in Georgia i studied for a month and went to some free prep classes It was not that hard i suggest study and it will be easy.

just go to a adult ed center and register theyll help you get ur ged. dnt know of anything of doin it online. dnt thkn they have that online. but u go there adn thyll help u out. GO FOR IT. just passed all my tests. u can do it. reply back for more info

GED is harder than a High School Diploma. Anyone can breeze through high school without ever learning anything. I for one know. I dropped out as a senior and I don't remember a thing about high school, and I had straight A's!
Being smart isnt about a piece of paper anyways. I got my GED and now I have a computer programming degree now, and one thing I can tell you is I learned more on my own than any instructor in college could teach me. Those classes were a waste of time and money.

well i dont know about where you live but in RhodeIsland you need a High school Diploma or GED just to work at Wendys... or be in school. but yea do ya thing make your money but make sure you get some education in life

I am 16 and i just dropped out i will be taking the test in like i guess a month(i need other things done first like a drivers permit,job ect)
also the only time the GED test isn't = to high school diploma is a few things in the military and if you want to get into an IV league college
but man at school they almost brainwash kids into thinking that the GED is a piece of shit and that the test is SO SUPER HARD

Who says you can't get into an Ivy league university with a ged? Yes you can. The only Ivy league schools that don't accept ged from what I know of is Princeton and Brown.
Yale, Upenn, Harvard, Dartmouth and Cornell don't require a High School diploma for admission. Columbia requires a High school diploma but accepts geds.
My point, most universities in America don't require a high school diploma.

Congratulations on getting your G.E.D, to all people out there that think the G.E.D is for loser's or slacker's, well it's not. Bill gates dropped out of high school and got his G.E.D, also according to statistics only 60% of highschool seniors can pass the G.E.D test. They have gradually been making the test's harder to pass aswell. Back in the 70's and 60's there was an age limit and you could attend a univeristy without HSD or GED, many ppl got their Bachelor's that way. Dont hate!
