  • I lived in Weston Super Mare for one year.I visited the Grand Peer like many Portuguese people.

The Grand Peer was 100 years of old but the english people is the worst thing in the world. FILHOS DA PUTA

  • @bastao1costa

    don't come back then, moron.

  • Bloody well done to all concerned, a great visitor and local attraction.

If this was council owned we would still be waiting to have the debris collected, bunch of wasters.

If you think this is harsh I can't state what I think about the Tropicana saga .

18 years waiting for a decision,,, Disgusting, All the council need a well placed boot the the rear.

  • I was there after the fire died down. It was the same day that we took my mum to the Airport and decided to go to Weston - Super - Mare for Fish and chips the traffic was diabolical and there was news crew everywhere never forgot about that day. We was on holiday aswell

  • montaigne-red indians lived in eden..no lies..envy..falsehood...tories to carve up countryside for prperty...place art on sites owned by locals stop the natural hearts being cut up....................

  • look on the bright side......Weston got a cracking new pier!

  • for all these people who say how did it start it started by old electrick wires.

  • got to admit it though the new peir is pretty dam good now though

  • i had so many memories as a little girl in the peir i was so sad to see it burn like that . i was there the day before and everytime we go we always go on the peir but this time we didnt and it burnt the next day , couldnt belive it

  • I still think it was an insurance job, the owners had several planning permissons turned down, and wot ya know? few weeks later it burns down, and i aint the only one who says it, ive spoken to several locals who think the same. think about it as well, the owner also owns his OWN insurance comapany

  • :( i went to weston the day that happened, to have a nice relaxing day

  • fire done us a favour reli....the pier is awesome now!

  • How Did The Peir Catch Fire?

  • @T9Z0R I think some kids set a match to it

  • the pier has now been rebuilt im going there on friday !!

  • I never knew thart the fire was that extreme

  • THIS IS WESTON SUPER MARE

  • This Is In London Right

  • how did it happen. Our local(ish) pier has burnt down...3 times (Southend Pier, Essex)

  • @tom201090 no one is too sure really- some say it was an insurance scam others say someone left a chip pan over night- others says faulty electricty- either way- nearly 3 years on- even with the new pier its kind of sad cause all the memories and people's markings sort of went with it. I havent visited the new one yet- but i really want to

  • it's true, i did read it

  • i read on wikipedia that someone braved the fire to rescue some gas tanks, it said that if those gas tanks had exploded then the fire would have gotten much worse, with the possibility of having to evacuate everyone. now in my theory, the bigger it gets, the more unstoppable it gets, so if it were not for that one man, it could have caused the destruction of the whole of the entire southwest area, possibly even the country

  • @doctorwholover1993 :L you make the peir sound like the start of 2012 :L

  • @altontowers4life Very well said, I feel the same way.

  • They Have Almost Finished Building The 2nd One Havent They I Went There Couple Of Months Ago :/ lol

  • WHAT IS THE SECOND SONG!

  • yeah it's so sad that the old historic building burned down however the new pier is so much better. yeah we've lost a lot of memories from the old one but it's time to make new ones in the new pier. It's much more modern and of course safer than the other. highly recommended to anyone wanting some fun.

  • I live in weston annd the new one opened todaay, the 23rd september 2010 (: come and visit (: xx

  • i saw the smoke from cardiff i wondered what it was

  • the jew owners pull off an amazing insurance job to get their new dream pier. of course, they weren't going to be using their own money. they never do.

  • Deeply moving :'( goodbye pier :'(

  • its really sad

  • the best example of a insurance job ever seen on live tv and no one was even botherd fair play to the owners good scam the weston beach race is the best event in the uk and i cant wait to try the new pier cheers insurance company hi 5

  • I worked on this Pier for a season, the bosses were all very good men and have my utmost respect, except for one....Paul Brenner. That's the 40 something twat who used to flick his hair do every 10 seconds, drive his car from the shore to the pavilion at 50MPH & constantly try chatting up the 16 year old girls who worked there.! A real sad excuse of a man.

Anyone else think he was a total dickhead..?

  • @DumbosDontAdapt i dont know him but he sounds like 1!!!

  • another bit of english history GONE up in smoke but S**T happends thay r building a new one sad realy but there is nutting anyone can do about it

  • i saw it on monday and it looks great, its back open in july.

  • INSURANCE JOB, the pier was aged and not not modern enough for todays needs. Obviously rebuilt with modern facilities it will probably double the profit made than it did prior

  • @jer6900 dont talk crap it wasent I no for a fact it wasent an insurance job why did they before it burned down put a new gokart racing track in there that cost £££££ loads ??? also you need to do some research on how it happend

  • apparently a chip pan fire, but how else were they going to afford a total overhaul of the place in such a short-time, i think your the one that needs to do the research mate

  • oh no ... weston super mare lost the super XD wait tis is so sad ... i live in weston nd now it kinda sucks :(

  • i renember crying for deys, i stil cry todey, the new pier isnt gonu b the same, nuthing can replace weston pier and i kno alot of people will agree, i love how in the middle of this video how it changed from happy to sad, brilliant how it was done, good memories went up in smoke but lets make new better memories with the new pier!!!!

  • whats the worry its was a bit dated so its good for the future

ive been a couple of times it was fun but it was just for kids it needs more chice for families and ive grow up

  • @skt556 i somewhat dont believe the kids thing, last time i went in there as a teenager i believe that there are plenty of places for adults just like the bit for gambling etc. also the family entertainment consists of things like the go-karts (installed 2 weeks before the fire) and the bumper karts which many families enjoyed

  • They are makein a new pier soo dont wrorry people LOL.

  • bad news but unfortunately life goes on. it's being replaced. it's bad when your teams football ground gets knocked down for a new one but it's the end of an era for weston pier and i can understand why people were upset about it but to see people devesated by it was a little OTT. WE live in gloucestershire and so weston or south wales is a regular holiday destination for us and the pier was good when it was there but you're getting a new one so chins up!

  • just look at the way the people are standing! even though you cannot see their faces, you can tell they are deeply upset by this "accident"!

  • Not so bad.......

  • loved the pier, so sad when it burned down

  • Same thing happend to us here in Morecambe. We lost 2 piers, one floods in a storm.another on fire.Never even considered rebuilding.Sad.

  • I miss this pier. I remember going there when i was younger, walking up there and always finding it was closed.. I strangely miss that. Now that I live in the USA now, and I heard that the pier built down, I was pretty sad. Good memories.

  • Typical they just put go karts in and then a few days later it's gone. R.I.P Weston super mare grand pier.

  • insurance job!

  • Omg westongirl17 it was not a set up! and there getting on real well with it now so hopefully it will be dun at the end of 2010! It was realy horrible. i like live on the other side from it and i could see the smoke! PEOPLE FROM WALES COULD SEE THE SMOKE! :O

  • Such a shame :( I was on it a week before it burnt down and had planned to go on it the day after it burnt down with some mates, that pier was great .. xx

  • i cant beleive it that was the best pier ever and the big fire has to start didnt it its really bad man i loved it my grandada used to take me der every year atlest 4 times a year

  • it's kinda like the UKs or atleast westons and area version of the twin towers!

  • my god, the song put me in stitches :L!

  • i live in weston.. and it was all a set up. The fair started early hour of the morning and ended up calling the police at 6:30am in the morning. SET UP lol

  • me and my family went there every yr i went this yr and it just wasnt the same!! i had big family memories in that place!!!! weston will never be the same unless they rebuild exactly the same!!! and i dont see how an 104 yr old building servives war n alsorts and this day just so happens someone left a deep fat fryer on!!! accident?? i dont think so!!!

  • Lol... I did it! It was me! Mwhahahahahaha!

  • I remember when I was FREAKED out on the ghost train. I really will miss that place. Also, 2 weeks after the fire when we were allowed on the beach, I picked up ruins of Weston-Super-Mare Pier and some burned tokens from slot machines and the change store. I now have a memory...

  • we were going to go there with my Grandad but then:inferno.

    I'm going to miss it 100% :-(

  • i think it was arson an inside job

  • I went there today!

  • ive lived in weston all my life and the peir burt down when i was on my holiday!!!

  • In 1968-70 I was in/ the RAF., at Locking., ( Im now living in German), By chances I called up WSM on my Search program.

I was surprized how Weston has changed in the last ? 40 odd years., (1963) Worlebury Hill Road, (1968) Broadway.,I can still remember my Tel-No. in Bleadon, and where I lived on camp, but now its a small housing estate.

When I seen your Video of The Pier.I was completely Dumn Founded, as it brought back all my working and happy moments that I had there.,May I say., THANK YOU::!

  • @Delcomp33 i used to live on the RAF camp lol varsity way

  • me + my family saw that happen we was so shocked and upset we couldnt leilive are eyes:O

  • its so sad i had loadz of amazing childhood memories there gonna miss it

i hope the donkey rides are still there though

  • awesome tribute mate good job best pier around gonna miss it loadz

  • i live in weston, it was an insurance job. believe wot u want to, but im not one to speculate on hearsay.

  • well its all good anyway cos we now have a big fucking useless wheel.... great

  • lol its good the first time

  • I was sad when I first heard about what happened to the pier as My Dad's side of the family is from Sommerset and I spent many a holiday there. In 2002 I got engaged to my wife When she heard about the innocident she knew Weston wouldn't be the same without it and I sincerly hope they rebuild the pier.

  • yea maybe weston isn't the nicest place in the world, but it got fuck loads of tourism and people came here to see the peir, that was one of the biggest attractions, so teaker1s you can shut the fuck up about saying the only people who visit are fat inbreds, cause it wouldn't suprise me if you were one :)

  • im not a fat inbred you fukin shitface

  • I'm now twelve, and I went to the pier when I was about four. I can still remember what it was like, and I remember getting an ice cream and sitting on the wall looking out at the open sea. I really can't believe it's gone. Make me sad that I was only four, yet still remember it. ;[

    xx

  • INSURANCE JOB....!!!

  • Glad someone has got their eyes open to the truth. They should never have let this man buy the Pier. Those who have lived in Weston a long time know his is less than legit. It sickens me to watch the local Council licking his arse! It was strange how he just happened to be on Holiday when it happened? And now he doesn't want to spend the money. Along with Crap North Somerset Council fantastic drug rehab policy he has helped put the last nail in the future of this now dead town.

  • I go to school with the owners kid. :L

    ..

Yeah the pier was alright for a few years, I think it was about time it burnt down really. The pier needs to be revamped, re-done, and hey.. it'll be better when its finished!

  • have you not seen what hes doing , he is make it better tha n b4 , its gunna be much much better !!! idiot. and that coment saying weston is full of drugies is a lie, you probably need to open your eyes :D

  • I am 12 years old and i spent most of my life going to western on half terms just to go the pier but now its all gone.

  • Kerry Michael stitch, as it was listed, funny how machines emptied during day and all three key holders not avaliable.

Further to this local radio yawned on about it for ever as fuck all else ever happens.

Religious retards held a memorial service for it.

WSM is a crumbling Victorian shit hole with more drug rehabilitation centers per capita than anywhere else.

Sink hole estates and Chav scum-book a package holiday or stay home

  • Well said! No Jobs, full off Scummy Chavs, nutters, retards, druggies & pissheads. And the only thing going for it is it's full off slags with very loose knickers!

  • Oh yeah I remember your mum was one of the slags with very loose knickers :L

Tell her i forgot to give her the 10p i owed her yeah?;)

  • hahaha true

  • it is a deister but the piar is to recovery

  • What?

  • Thank you for the video, the pier is getting re-built

  • i didn't know about this fire until now.

    when did this happen?

    are they rebuilding the pier?

this is very sad news for me.

  • Fuck me where have you been?

  • 'gutting i went here most of my life with family, im gutted it as now gone....? do u think they will build it back..? '

the plans for the new peir were supposedly entered to weston town council just befor christmas, but they need to hold a meeting to confirm it but they 'cant get the council members together' they have moved the date to mid 2009!

there was a few other fires after this & they are all claimed to be caused just because they could get back more money that the buiness is worth!

  • i would like to thank the video poster. it was my birthday on june 12 in 2004. annd told my daughter they put the fire works up for me.lol. thankyou. insurance job.. bet my life on it.nice video thankyou.911 on a local style

  • 23 of july is my birsthday i went there and had fun this happend 5 days later D':

  • i saw it burn, i was on my way to work that morning. i sat and watched it. all my childhood memories were burning with it. I am so angry and to this day..... think it was a planned insurance job. tell im nuts but i feel that

  • Weston's 9/11! Bring on the conspiracy theories

  • gutting i went here most of my life with family, im gutted it as now gone....? do u think they will build it back..?

  • I was there like a week before it happened,

    didnt anyone get hurt?

  • noo, it was too early it was at 7:00 ishh i think so no one was working at that time so dont worry (: xo

  • @natalieisgreat Same here Its was a shame but luckily they are building a new one

  • Kerry owns a fair bit around weston it would have been a tad silly to be an inside job as it dropped tourism quite a bit, however if i'm correct in thinking it was the fact he didn't replace the wiring for the attractions being put up in that sector, then his insurance won't cover it...hehehe OWNED!

Still he's in what, the top 20 richest in the UK? So he's good for it really.

  • The top 20 in the uk? Are you fuckin mad?

    Top 1000 maybe

  • He's 1794 on last years rich list, hardly impressive

  • Fair enough, i must've gotten him mixed up with someone else, however i wouldn't say "hardly impressive", his insurance payout im told was in the 20 mill region for the machines on the floor.

  • ... caused 50ps worth of damage, tragic

  • that made me cry lol :'(

  • then your one sad fucker

  • does any body know how it happened plz tell me i miss it loads plz tell me.

  • At about 7:00 am, an electrical spark from one of the machines set the wooden floor off on fire. Then later catching onto other machines/rides. All that was left after the devastation was the money, welded together by the heat of thr fire. Many people tried to swim out to collect some, and quite a few people did. Its very sad, i had so many memories there...

  • The floor of where it started was actually covered in non-slip rubber stuff..... it was would've been the furniture and.. tables and ...cakes and stuff that caught fire first............silly man. stop making things up.

  • im goin there on friday 10th october, to see the beach race its awesome!

  • I used to go to this pier all the time as a small kid its so upsetting to see it like this :(

    x

  • We're here in Weston-Super-Mare this week, its a great shame about the pier. So much history gone in a puff of smoke.

The cab driver who took us from the station to the hotel, suggested that it could be an 'inside job' by the recently new owner. Especially as he also owns an insurance company!!

Interesting huh!!? I am not suggesting that this is true, but there is certainly no smoke without FIRE!!!

  • Hey I went on the BBC news site and i found some designs for the grand pier. I'll do a short video of them.

  • shame me and my m8s yoose to love going there

    :(

  • obviously arson

  • God bless Carters steam fair that people have had place to have fun just after fire.

  • this is hard 2 believe:(

  • I went There Today,

    Its A Right State :S

  • i went there 2 days ago every 1 looks gutted

  • lol 2:21 i bet he's upset...

  • It Looks More Appealing On Fire Than It Did With All The Fancy Lights

  • dickhead

  • not this, sorry , replying to the arsehole akabrutal below, amoebic needle dick

  • i love that pier all the memories of holidays gone

  • GO AND FUCK YOU MOTHER TITWANK!!

  • No One Cares!

  • I 100% loved the grand pier and for me it is hard to beleive its gone. By the way I've got a video of my last trip to the grand pier (2 weeks before it burnt down). P.S In memory of the Grand Pier.

  • By the way some people predict that the fire was cause by a deep fat fryer or something.

  • I was there last weekend and it looks shit loads better than it was before !

  • jebnij sie w łeBBBBBBB pajacu zcwelony fuck off you twat

  • LoL85nr you smelly bastard, fock you

  • i knew i shud ov put out that fag

  • we have lived in weston all our lives, its sad, but this music and shit is so funny :L

  • hey, i was there on holiday and i came home yestarday, there was people on my campsite including me that stood on roofes to see the fire, it was terrible and we went down there to see everything that had happened, i felt genuinly dishartened :(

  • im so sad about what happend and the most wierdist thing is that i only said to my mum the day be for can we go to weston to go on the pier im was rying my eyes out cuz i have ben goin there scince i was about 4 and now im 15 its just a lot og good memories gone up in flames :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

  • awhh i went there the other day i was gutted:'(

i loved it there. lol x

  • some stupid idiot forgot to unplug a ride lol :'(

  • I was there the day before and ate at the very fish and chips shop where the fire allegedly started off...I was planning to spend the day after in weston as well when I saw the news...devastating.

  • Cardiff boot boys we are here, doodah, doodah!

We're gonna burn your minging pier, doodah, doodah, day!

  • The Firefighters were wank, it started off in the corner and they couldn't stop it spreading.
