wait but you do like the special effects right? because they are absolutely amazing special effect. the ships, the nuke, the big monsters, the whirlwinds of people going up into the ships, those were unbelievable. I mean, when those blue orbs/beams came down onto the city and the circular camera angle around the city was pretty sweet. just sayin.....

Tom, I couldn't agree more my friend. Watched this few weeks ago was so hoping that all the bad press I'd read about this was wrong. Ermmm. Nope. :( Few decent visuals sure but as you say I could not have given less a damn about the shite characterization and the fact it is so COMPLETELY BORING AND DERIVATIVE sure dont help. And WTF was that ending??! And Skyline 2 is in the works??! Errr didn't this movie bomb like Hiroshima?! Jesus H..........Anyways your the dude keep up the good work ;)

Well, this movie wasn't horrible. It was disappointing but not horrible. The acting was decent but its storyline brings Nothing new to the game - just cheap and poor imitation of War of the Worlds, Cloverfield and even The X Files. Some moments reminded me Supernova (2000) and Alien franchise

The Best and the most unique SCI-FI movies were in the 50's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Unfortunately Our modern so-called "blockbusters" are poor sequels, useless remakes, stupid rip offs etc

Bad film yes, but a sequel has to happen for to give the first one any kind of credibility and point. Personally i felt there were a couple of redeeming scenes in this, the stealth bomber attack on the mother ship was a corker!

tbh i was so desperat of a cool special effect alien movie, that the acting didnt really bother me. i thought the special effects were awesome and definetly worth a watch. i agree that the acting and storyline needs a big improvement. but i do think that the special effects kinda makes up for it. but thats just my opinion..

I thought it was an awesome film, glad there making a second, here's the thing if you watch people jsut being people it looks like poor acting. to act you have to not do what is realistic. so in going with realistic reactions and actions of charchters it looks bad but is actually what people would really be like.

The acting was pretty awful. The story was very weak. I just wish they would have come up with something so much better, the concept I thought was strong but really lacked any good story. The visual effects were top notch, especially with the giant alien things I thought.

and YES! the ending felt so much like a video game epilogue! Thats all i could think about at the end! its a film that should really just be a game.

GREAT MOVIE- I dont know whats wrong with people. Any sci fi fan would love this movie. And the acting is as it should be-moslty spoiled hollywood brats who we want to see perish- except the two main characters from Brooklyn whom I find did a fine job acting in the role given to them. The ending wasnt disney, as we like it to be, but very unexpected...I cant wait for Skyline 2.

@eftheoneblue people who say their is no story cant read between the lines. its sci-fi and all about posibility. physicist and cosmologist Steven Hawkings warns against how loud we are and what could follow. their is no reason to believe an alian race is peacefull. and their is no reason to believe they would come all the way here for nothing other then to say hi. if they study us they know we would find them weak and attempt to destroy them and take what they have.

Good review. My take:Great visuals and some cool action. Acting is almost passable but there is zero character development. But the film is repetetive: Run from aliens, hide catch breath repeat. It's unrelentingly dark to the point of being sadistic. And the ending made no sense. I'm gonna need therapy to recover from this film.

Ah that's a shame. I wanted this movie to be good, the visuals look really well done and I enjoy the show Scrubs. It makes you wonder why they poor so much effort into one area or another of a movie but don't bother to make sure it's got the one thing it needs.

it was just another war of the worlds. I was intriged by the teaser trailer but the actual movie was just crap. Funny thing is i liked AVPR. The alien designs were interesting but that did not save the film. Watching this movie my mind started to wander and said i would really like to see Super 8 right about now.

I will say I have not seen the movie yet. Not sure if I want to. But by judging the trailer and what I read on the net. They should of made the characters part of the Military instead. I am more interested in seeing how our troops would cope in a situation like this. Cause if I was a infantry career man in the military I would go nuts. That's my opinion.
