What a joke.. I installed this (kasp 2011)and when i let it run complete scan- I went out and thought it would only take 1 hour to scan the harddrive but to my amazement it had done only 24% scanning of 45 G data and it said it would take addtional 5 hours to scan a 145 gb harddrive- this is like the biggest joke ever- dont use since the program cant even understand that a 6.5 hour scan of 45 gb is not possible and something wrong.

thanks to avast I had to wipe my hard drive clean. It failed to pick up 2 trojans

i got the blue screen saying memory dump and would restart the system over. after having a computer tech 6 virus scans and checking for hardware isues i still had the blue screen only thing that resolved it was to completely wipe the harddrive clean and reinstalled windows 7

he forgot to mention how Kaspersky has a dynamic ability to black files on teh local PC so that they don't load on boot till a fix is found. No other software I have used will do this. They always want to Quarantine files. great but ah By Quarantine, you have to remember to go there and look at the files again, and what file you want. Black listing allows the file to remain in it's Original location and be fixed as soon as the fix is available, without user intervention. 120% access 2

Though kaspersky usually does repair them even with previous infections. your probably allowing the file that created the virus to be ran. your problem is probably user error. kasper isn't Bloat ware, it runs in the background with 2 MB usage, and less then 1% CPU usage. during an aggressive System Scan you can still play demanding games to. An Aggressive Kaspersky labs System scan, even threw root kits is 10% CPU usage. You can't ask for less then that, and have a fast acting response time. Wooded you need to go back to trashy AVG, and stick to the stuff that doesn't work if your happy with that

@ez0469 You need to do some reading my friend. First take a look at system requirement and tell me why you need a NASA computer to run this app. There are MANY reports telling firefox keeps crashing. The sandbox doesn't function correctly or worse leaking, trustworthy is up to you. Go to any security forum online and read for youself. Kasper are packed with many not very user friendly tools, some even useless and becouse of this it runs heavy. Most important, the app Is very expensive.

it didn't detect it because Trojans are installed by the user, and you allowed it. probably also told it that it was a safe software as you use it the first time too. USER ERROR, all Scanners that are your default will do the same thing. that is why Trojans are so successful! best way to avoid Trojans is to not make the new unknown software trusted while installing. Simply allow it for a period of time!! Wait for something odd to happen, or degraded system performance!!

that is because the software is determined to be a false positive and is a legit extension. kasper will in fact flag this file, and monitor it till it does something unexpected. Don't stress the report. anything with yellow marks on the reports view is flagged and monitored. HP PC's get Keylogger reports along with many KEYboards these days. Chat clients blah blah the list goes on. Kasper does watch those files closely be assured!!

I just purchased this. It is certainly over priced. I can't comment on how well it protects yet. I've used AVG, which was almost decent. After they made it where you dang near had to purchase it, I went with trend micro. I'll never recommend trend micro to anyone. It never caught these fake AV viruses, or much of anything else, and I had to manually remove the files, reg entries...etc. Stay away from trend micro! The only thing I can say about Kas. right now, is that it is over priced.

I understand everything that i typed in teh PM, go read it. You manually installed it, Auto works with known database, and it was user error. Setting to Auto is dangerous, and because it is set to AUTO, it doesn't always have the ability to ID suspicious threats. Man never-mind, you don't get it. kaspers engine doesn't need it to be included in there figure it out, remote connections are blocked by default. there is no reason to have it in there. and BTW, Malware bytes is free, which is why I call it crap, it is the Same damned engine. The point your making is you messed up, told Kasper to trust HillDoor. you trust it, the trojans go untouched with any software, no matter what.

It's user error though definitely if you have a remote connection to your PC, and as I noted kAS specializes in it. remote connections can't even touch anything kasper, not even the Widget. Think about what a Virus is? A virus is a Software that is not wanted by a user of a PC, which is why many call Windows a VIrus.

yes there is a Chance it is a new thing, but Kasper by default blocks all remote ports, and access. You just lost that argument!

It has had many decent changes, Comodo for an experienced user beats every other software not designed in a similiar manner. Though for the less experienced user Eset, Vipre, Avast, MSE will do the job.

@Comodo does have some nice feature sets and is pretty reliable, and I have tried them both, old free comodo before it went commercial and the retail. but kasper is just as good in teh EXPert configs probably better in features aviaable. however, Comodo is great AWesome as well, but Kaspersky is made for professional Experts, and is only hafter 6 years or so starting tobe more novice freindly.

They are able to recognize what programs are unknown or their unsure about and tell you about every move their doing, if their reaching a file or trying to reach full acess. Kaspersky does not have full detection rate, infact kaspersky is rather bullshitty atm. They had several FP's on my PC and they got a bad removal process, they got no access to the key parts of the system.
