@shoefork I don't know what Blu Ray software that version comes with but you should be able to swap out the optical (DVD) drive itself for a Blu Ray reader or burner without a problem. I have the Amazon G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers version which came with a Blu Ray reader/DVD combo drive and I swapped out the drive for a Blu Ray burner from Newegg. It's about a 5 minute job. Also, to those wondering, the G73SW-A1 can runs that benchmark easily at normal speed. Not sure why it's choppy here.
getting kind of tired of all the "benchmark porn" videos. like there aren't enough of them around for this model. i do have this exact laptop by the way it's very impressive, but frankly wish there were better videos.
What country are you in? If you're in the US, @ 0:41 is that a USB 3.0 output? Best Buy's website has the specs listed with 4 USB 2.0 outputs but the demo link has it showing with 1 USB 3.0. Please respond as soon as you can because I need to buy a laptop right away and I want to see if it is worth spending an extra $200 on this model instead of the G53SW-BST6. Thanks.
I finally purchased an Asus G73SW and I strongly recommend it. My version doesn't have the full 1080p & BlueRay player but I really couldn't care less. If you are hardcore about those two things then go with the more expensive models but the standard G73SW-BST6 (you can find it at Best Buy) will run any game on maximum settings and you can run many high-end applications at once without any problems. There are too many features to list here. This really is the best laptop! :)
@andyrooney12 How about Arma II? that's the game I would really like to play on this. My M11x was a grad gift but I think I might sell it for one of these.
I just went to canyourunit(dot)com and it passed both minimum and recommended settings for ALL games...including Arma II. If you can afford it then I strongly recommend buying Asus laptops because they really do give you the best bang for the buck. Good luck!
I'm looking for a new laptop, what will be the best possible laptop for about 2000 $. And witch one is better Asus g73sw-a1 or MSI GT680R-008US?. I have never used msi can someone help???
@graduatetests Yes and no. Optimus can be used with the new i7s, but but on high-end gaming laptops like this, no one wants to enable Optimus. Why? I don't know. It seems that makers of gaming notebooks are just dumb and think that Optimus is just for low-end cards, even though that makes no sense at all.
If this vid was laggy then the stop frames wouldnt be synced. The "lag" seems properly timed. He has the test program running on a low FPS setting. This guy isnt an idiot he wouldnt show case this laptop with a lagfest running on it. Get a grip guys
@Gitorian Its not "laggy" its Very low Frames Per Second (FPS) which shows a "choppy" appearance and it would be smoother if he would plug the laptop into the Wall outlet so it can run its full potential.
Learn the ffing defenition of the word review .

Why does the best buy g73 have only 1gb graphics while the A1 has 1.5gb even though both of them have the same nVIDIA® GeForce GTX 460M?
St8Solja 10 months ago
To all the people asking about the low fps in the video he is running...
This is not a video. He is running 3D Mark 11 which is a hugely intensive benchmarking tool. Even a $2000 desktop doesn't get very good fps

@XkriskrossX He seems to be an idiot to me. Everyone knows that CPUs and GPUs in gaming notebooks throttle when running on battery.

The test program is not running hard enough. Power adapter is not needed. The system is running great.

the choopy, laggy, or smoky display is caused by the Video program I select. I will post another video with different screen in a few days.

@ProStarVideos I was also wondering about this, I see reviews on beast laptops but see them run choppy with some of the tests. So is that normal?
