  • I was about to say your missing a V8.......Buuuut water pump also fits....LOL

  • dude, pushrod v8 sucks for racing.

it takes way to long to get rpm.

  • If the stat is working as it should, everything should be the same as w/standard belt drive pump. Of course I don't run a stat, I run a blanking sleeve to slow the water flow down so that it will stay in the rad long enough to give up the heat.

  • The water does not have to stay in the radiator long enough to give up heat. Increasing flow will increase cooling all else being equal (say, short of the pump itself adding extra heat by running out of efficient conditions). This is a common fallacy with water to air coolers. If your goal is as cold as possible, you want to maximize water flow just as much as you want to maximize air flow over the radiator. Just like running a smaller ground cable is bad for electrical flow.

  • heat does NOT dissipate faster, the faster the coolant is circulating through the system. It does to a certain point, then heat dissipation starts going BACKWARDS.

  • Hi, I love your informational videos but in this case freonr2 has made a very valid point. I know some of the thinking used to originate with the A series in minis, they ran hotter with no thermostat fitted, however this was due to the turbulence created by the water pump actually slowing the flow.. This was not obvious and gave people the opposite impression.

I am sure your engine temperature will drop without the restrictor... once again thanks for uploading so many interesting videos

  • just slow down the speed of the pump!

  • Seen these about in mags. Always wondered if there was any disadvantage opposed to the variable speed of belt driven pump's? ie slower warm up cos its running flat out all the time having no variant in rpm? : ) Also i live in uk whats the best way to get hold of yr books? (For some extra learning lol ) : ) Thanks John. From Mark In UK.

  • Yeah yeah yeah we know. What MrGuvEuroman asked is what are the "disadvantages"

  • Ah, my bad, a bad misread.

  • I can't imagine it would take any longer to warm up if the thermostat is working correctly. What say you John?

  • nice. that was a good Idea

  • 5 lbs for a water pump dang thats a big pump for a small engine
