  • Real men use their hands when making snowballs.

  • The movie actually looked promising until the "special effects". :D

  • lol poor sorry:)

  • I love that until the end. Didn't really like the explosion.

  • Das ist in Norddeutschland gedreht worden oder? Der Archithektur nach Nordwesten. 90ziger Jahre Neubau.

  • @khosrow Ja, Niedersachsen ^^

  • You did use a steadicam, didn´t you? I know what you mean with cinematography, but I think the camera isn´t moving really, erm, determinedly. What I want to say is, that it hasn´t got that really professional look, because the camera is much too undecided. ^^ I don´t mean this personal. That´s just my opinion. ^^

  • I liked the camera moves. Was it handheld and stabilized in post? If so, was it done in After Effects or FinalCut? If not, did you use a stabilzer?

  • mann war ich da junq!

  • fucking awsum video.........it looks like HDR and SHARPENING are very good how to get this effect????? u did this in AFTER EFFECTS or is it CAMERA

  • WTF just one question , what tipe of cam did you use for thisvideo?

    the resolution is awesome

  • @eusttak Sony HDR-XR500

  • @vfxworld how much money do u buy this cam ?

  • @Syntaxunda 1200€

  • Ich glaub' ich schick dir mal uns're Mädels aus der Theater-AG vorbei. Die können dir dann ein ordentliches Skript schreiben und dann wird das ganze auch richtig cool.

  • Lol why did the snowball explode? Haha

  • wow, that drawing was awesome, what did you use?

  • @narutofan9tf i used pastel pencils ;) if you mean that picture i made....

  • @fairy93tale

    beautiful drawing

  • the camera is really awesome to watch, but the fireball really cut off a huge piece of quality, in this case the clip would have been better if you just would have made something like get the girl go outside to point out a "happy ending"

  • The angles are awesome, I love it! :)

  • What is the idea of a film? Movie about nothing. The fire badly made. Not entered into the environment. Keep working.

  • @Ktulhu82 the point of this "film" is written in the headlin.

cinematography, which has nothing to do with story or effects.

  • Not a fan. Too much glidecam.

  • great work!

  • Gotta love the way a snowball causes a fire! Apart from that, very good. Thumbs up :)

  • Good job with the camera movements and color correction, but a better plot could have been used. Other than this, well done!

  • The camera moves and angles are great and give it a lovely professional feel. But short films are all about the ending and the fireball makes no sense. Still a pleasure to watch.

  • @TrevorBaudach thanks, working on a new short now. I'll try to give it a good ending :)

  • @vfxworld i like the ending. snowball fireball!!

  • cool

  • Comment removed

  • @viplovem give me reasons and don't tell me what you ate at breakfast..

  • @vfxworld Well for starters , it doesnt make any sense. There is no plot, no story no nothing. Its not about shooting pretty backgrounds and exotic locations. Anyone can shoot pretty things with a high end camera. Its no biggie.

  • @viplovem this video is about continuity and camera techniques. Furthermore this tells a story. A guy is throwing snowballs on a Window, what else do you need more?! I admit the end is kinda pointless.

Ah and what "story" do you want to put in 2 minutes without any dialouge?

  • @vfxworld You don't need dialouge to tell a story..

  • @viplovem im pretty sure he wasnt trying to make an actually film more test footage to try to make a really good looking video. this is better then alot of videos ive seen on youtube even though the other videos made sense and had a story.

  • O, that was delicious.

  • i don't get it but it was AWESOMELY MADE!!

  • lol, btew ur wife is beautiful

  • @flashguy234 haha it's my sister xD

  • My best friend is german :D, I'm gotta buy that camera, Nice fire by the way.

  • Mir würde es besser gefallen, wenn nicht das Zimmer des Mädchens explodieren sondern sie etwas übernatürliches mit dem Schnee machen würde. So fängt das ganze fast romantisch an und endet so gemein.

  • oo ight thx

  • oo ok so is the Sony HDR-XR500V better then?

  • @2DEEP10 no.

it's the same camera. 25 is european standard and 29 american.

  • Is there a difference between hdr xr500v and the hdr xr500ve

  • @2DEEP10 the european one shoots in 25 fps. The other one in 29.

  • to give you a suggestion about better explosions: look up: action essentials 2. you don't need any kind of good computer. this is a collection of pre-made explosions, blood, and other action movie stuff. btw i can give you better short film scripts for free if you want. i do this for my class and i can give them to you if u like. pm me

  • You NEED to get a powerful computer!! haha But great video, loving the camera angles!

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • "This short film is a bout a guy who throws snowballs"

...ich muss wirklich sagen, wenn ich so etwas in einer filmrezession lesen würde,

würde ich mir den film sofort anschauen^^ :D

  • woooow awesome camera angles and usage i liked

  • Would be better if you create more realistic fire :).btw nice .I liked your chosen music and sounds

  • oha! was war denn in dem schneeball drin??^^ naja das feuer am ende war nich so der hammer und es war für meinen geschmack etwas zuviel rauch dabei; aber tracking sah gut aus, und die kameraführug hat mir auch gefallen. ;-)

  • Looks really nice!

    Great job

  • Sorry to be negative, but 1 and a half minutes of snowball throwing for that?

  • yes.

    I'm working on better storys.

But watch out for snowballs. You never know whats in there.

  • Sony HDR-XR500VE kicks ass

  • noob

  • Huh? Well it was all pretty cool up to, in my opinion, the end... unless I just am not getting something. But for 99.9% I agree with the rest that it was cool.

  • okay for a great video you want great content.. not to be bumming you out but i didn't like it because i didn't like the characters.. they were just people on camera to me... i think you should have the audience more attached to them and also the fire wasn't exactly very realistic but that doesn't matter.. its the story you tell and how well you tell it.. not how cool the effects are even if your name is vfxworld.. just a tip and some constructive critisism..

  • thanks.

Yea, but for attaching the audience more to the characters I'd need at least 4 mins. You know how modern Cinematography works? Well, you start in a wider angle and like a master shot or so. Than you slowly go into tighter shots. I tryed to bring the boy in with the first scene and the girl in the housscene using this technique.

Well, the audience needs time to attach to the characters. And this time was not given. Thanks for the tip anyway ;)

  • nice, snow is difficult to film in and it whited out at points, and the room was maybe a little dark against the bright window. the film was cool though and the music fit in really well. nice job

  • thanks.

Yes, I don't have 1000 Watt lights :( otherwise I'd have exposed the room correctly.

But when fimling I thought it would be nice if I'd expose for outside so that you can see just the siluhette of the girl.

    I thought that'd add a mystical touch ;)

  • I like this... Good color, good camera movement etc...

  • add some real element fire!! it will make the fire look so much more realistic! as previously said, footage is superb.

  • @theAlijan he doesnt need to have u seen his other fire videos? i dont knwo why this one looks so unreaslitic hendric? is the fire fumefx or after effects particles?

  • I realise this, but I usually can tell when its rendered fire and real fire. In most cases, studios usually combine the two.. getting the luminance value from the rendered fire and using it as an alpha cutaway on the real fire usually does wonders..

and as to why it looks the way it is, i think an inferno like that should not be as tamed. from the references i looked at the fire usually gushes out when theres a fireball explosion... this seems like somewhat floating.. it looks too calm..

  • @theAlijan yeah a way to make it look more realsitic is 1 make the fuire more realsitic... i think its teh color that is mainly makign it look cg and second idea maybe try remodeling the window or watever part your are making burn and use it as an object soirce the same way i made my human torch effect also maybe increasing gravity

  • FumeFx.

But I wasn't after a realistic effect obviosly. The problem here was, that I was working on a bad PC so I was not able to simulate a high res sim.

Also I didn't want to spend like a week on the explosion shape.

Well, next one will be better. I hope so ;)

  • @vfxworld awsome looking forward to it

  • this is awesome.. subscribing all the way :)

  • Excelente, mein Freund!

  • Nice one - Great production. Thanks for the music plug too!

  • Real fire will always look better. Why not use Action Essentials 2 or something along those lines?

The production value on this clip is really quite high, but do I dare say, it's almost ruined by the cheesy fire effect and the repeated cuts to black.

    Well done either way! 4/5

  • thanks.

Well, I like to create my own stuff.

But my PC is not good enough to simulate those high detailed Fluid Simulations...

  • 4 stars good beginning

  • vn1!! but didnt liked the blinking after the explosion!

  • do you mean that you don't see the clip all at once?

    well :P

I didn't want to render the whole scene, that'd have taken one day. So I thought I'd rather use the BlackScreen method, which fits pretty well.

That's at least what I thought

  • Супер)) Как говорится надо было выходить сразу)
