I really like the Fosgate system it comes with. I do a ton of stereo installs for people but have kept my eclipse stereo stock. Has plenty of (loud) bass but it can't reach too low but that never bothers me.

I'm dissappointed with the sub. The enclosure is too small to produce anything except medium quality bass

Yep, I felt the same way, and started to hear too much distortion, so I got a 10 inch Alpine Type R, put it in a Bassworks box, and it sounds way better. Less room in the trunk, of course, but it's worth it for the better sound quality.

I bought mine loaded with the Rockford Fosgate system, but I'm used to aftermarket sound. I replaced everything with Alpine (components, amps, 10 inch type R subwoofer inside a Bassworks box) I also had the doors and trunk dynamated. It sounds much better than the stock system. Too much distortion with the sub that came with the car. (It's still cool that it comes with a sub, though).

I wouldn't recommend putting an aftermarket sub in the Rockford Fosgate box that came with the car. It was designed specifically for the R.F. sub. My Alpine Type R sub wouldn't even fit in it, and it was a 10 inch. For best sound quality, you should get a Bassworks box or something similar. You'll have less room in the trunk, but the sound quality will be much better.
