this film wasted aproximatly 1 hour and 20 of my life, it is the biggest piece of shit ever made with a camera.

for most of the film there on a gay boat talking bollocks about god then they reach the holy land and then they go insane and rape each other in the mud what the fuck !!!!

Kinda cool actually, this film. I would have made it a little different myself, but ok.

Odin has a prophet on earth, or is it Odin himself? He sees the future in red visions, and kills with an poetic disrespect for christian moral. "It matters, doesn`t it? How you leave?" . Boy(odin) says, "yes".

Fun to think about, that the european dark age, was the Scandinavien golden age.

@wiismellbad I dont need help. I understand this movie. Just watched it for the third time. It`s metaphysic comes clear to me. This is poetry. Cut to the bone. No need to explain something that 99.99% of humanity wouldnt understand anyway. Thats why its left open. A tip; reading some Nietzsche and norse mythology may help, just clear your mind first, or you will be moraly damaged.

A swedish movie reviewer described the boys function in the movie like this; "For the most part, he has with him(Mads Mikkelsen) a little blond boy whose function in Movie is about as unclear as the cucumber slice on McDonalds cheeseburgers"....

well since najbjergpoulsen mentioned Beowulf, one of Demarks greatest heroes, i just have to add that Beowulf was a Göte/Got and its pretty funny that a danish hero was from Sweden. And just to sort things out the kingdom of sweden didn't exist during the age of vikings.

Yes, the kingdom of Sweden did exist in the viking age. Just that it was much smaller than later on. The Götar (Geats, Gautar) were not considered Swedes until the high/late middle ages. They may or may not have been subjects to the Swedish king in the viking age.

All the scandinavians claim to have the Greatest Viking tales, lol... I only read the book about danish history by Saxo Grammaticus pretty awesome book, but how much is fact or fiction?he wrote it in 1216..Thats about 300years later..

But thinks its badass that Jutland and the speardanes are mention in the poem beowulf, written sometimes between the 8th and 11th century..thats early people!!

It is sad that Christianity forbid/quenched these kind of "stories", and as monks where the only people of their time to read/write, they did not bother to write it down. But the story of Beowulf have survived, verbally past down, until someone wrote it down. And that, i find really amazing!

Lawl there's nothing called "old Norwegian" per se, All Scandinavian countries spoke the same language if so with different dialects - I.E Norse. This is kinda general how it was: Danes invaded England and France, Norwegians discovered America and Swedish Vikings went east and savaged Russia and than marched all the way down to the Black sea and the Byzantines.... Though that is almost a criminal simplification.
