  • Music at 1:07???

    Plz responde me!

  • Opposable thumbs...can't beat 'em!

  • Evolution is a murder .....

  • Filmed on MLK Blvd, Anytown USA.

  • Great sequence but the book that inspired it (African Genesis) has long been discredited. I'm not sure it's even germane to think of "first human" anymore. There appears to have been an enormous amount of variation, as in other species, over a vast time period, not a single species that "defined" humanity, let alone with a bone-club! Having said that, this is my 2nd fave SF movie (Solaris, 1972, is my #1).

  • This is our nature!! Destructive animals!!

  • @davebry01

No, not "destructive animals"- We are certainly animals, but that phrase implies blind, pointless violence. We are innately aggressive because it was necessary to maintain control of the resources we needed to survive, which was very beneficial for the survival of the members of our species until recent centuries.

  • @davebry01 Read De Waal.

  • one of the most beautiful sequence in movie history

  • and many fucks were given that day.

  • and now the next step is...exterminating selfish and pride from our hearts.

  • 1:10

  • the best epic moment in film history..thank you Stanly Kubrick where ever you may be...hopefully making more movies

  • This movie is impossibly dull and misrepresents evolution worse than creationists

  • Yup, they were thugs back then too.

  • 1:55, 2:10... what's the deal?

  • @Freebleepers

    Did he died??

  • Imagine being the 2001th viewer... EPIC! :D

  • Oh God, I'm crying.

  • Stunning, awesome, mesmerizing. The sybolism is astounding. This is great movie making.

  • So this is what george bush did before his political years

  • @RyanDemaree

Don't be ridiculous, he isn't that smart...

  • @RyanDemaree Whoo! George Bush humor three years later! Oh, man, it never gets old, does it?

  • @RyanDemaree The funny part is, he didn't do any worse than Obama is doing for us now.

  • @RyanDemaree

really? you are really going to be so low to use the AMAZING CLIP for just a political joke?

I mean this piece of cinema changed a lot of the things for the film world and you just used it for a snide political joke...

    sad

  • @retrofraction Upon looking at my artwork and astronomy videos on my channel I think youll agree that I have the qualifications to make a tiny little joke on a youtube video that features a tiny sliver of a movie.

  • @RyanDemaree Let me tell u ur insulting the ape comparing him to bush, what he did here may not seem much to us now but it is very very intelligent!

  • @sandy666ification haha thats true I guess

Well Bush still at least looks sorta like the ape

  • PLANET MAJMUNA !!!!

  • Bone + other guy's face = awesome. The early Australopithecus didn't needed an omniscient alien superintellience to figure that equation...

  • 1:27 ahahahahah

  • Legendary.

    Top that.

  • 00:40 That's an unfinished pyramid with the sun (all seeing eye) rising.

  • @JRock005 you didn't watch the movie did you.

  • @StelarCF

I know it's not a pyramid. But it looks an unfinished pyramid from that angle.

  • Wow. So basically all of our technology came from learning how to use materials around us as tools. Unfortunately, as of 2012, apes in the wild still use sticks and stones to break things.

  • @xxpeniskingxx I really hope that was meant to be sarcastic.

  • THIS is the best film ever

  • You're all going to hell. Evolution is a lie.

  • @xxpeniskingxx Evolution is more a fact than what you existance is.

  • @xxpeniskingxx sure, god is as real as harry potter

  • @xxpeniskingxx i would seriously argue about this for days but your nick kills the entire mood bro.

  • maiosmusiclover: Yes. It is right here in U-Tube ubnder Trailer 2001: The bone turns into a space ship travelling in space...Hope you find......

  • Does anyone know where I can find the scene where the monkey throws the bone into the sky and it becames into a plane? pleaseeee!!!

  • Do people not understand what the word "spam" means, or are you all just dicks? People have the right to be stupid and wrong, but unless they've actually been spamming, don't flag their comments, just downvote.

  • BRILLIANT...THE FIRST WEAPON..THE FIRST MURDER...STUNNING

  • Punk!

  • A visual representation of Apple customers.

  • @mccarthy86 Hahahaha

  • Learning to kill was one of 'proto-man's most important steps along the ruthless Darwinian pathway. It's not pretty, cute, uplifting or euphoria-inducing, unless you actually enjoy killing. It is just one of the harsh laws of nature. The tapir or neo-pig collapsing in this part of the movie used to seem bizarre to me (I was 10 years old when I saw the film first). The two '2001's, the film and the real year, only echo what man harbors within.......

  • First and only...

  • WoW, is this real happend?

  • @evilbob91

    Yes, this is real happend.

  • you are lying

  • @evilbob91 boh

  • That is SCS Captain Kirk firing up his PC in the morning

  • what a smart monkey and to think that she then selectively gave birth to even smarter little monkeys with less hair and and a more upright stance- unbelievable

  • so angry

  • Did not like this -- Don't believe in evolution at all.

  • @deltamaryify Then why are you even watching this?

  • @deltamaryify Yeah, you believe in Goku, right? Superman, perhaps?

Come on dude, these are fictional characters, just like the ones that appear in the bible.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOoooooh!

  • Zoolander.

  • Evolution..."From bones to bombs"...

    Capt Bill M...USMC

  • 1:55 thats why we are missing so many important dinosaur fossils.

  • Every time I look up at the moon on a clear day or night I think of this scene.

  • I love the build up in this scene, the way how the ape goes from an idea and puts it into practice making way for the continous evolution of man (with all its pros and drawbacks).

But the thing that really gets me in this scene, and Kubrick's overall genious, is the level of detail, like the fact that there is actually saliva coming from the apes mouth!

  • Epic clip... Thanks for sharing!

  • That monkey is a genius!

  • its amazing that the people who portrayed our ancestors acted out monkey life perfectly.

  • @toxboxic niggers?

  • Lol, the same scene with the bone happens when you pass the creature stage in "Spore"

  • why this was the first step in evolution ?

  • @MrJoeCARALHO the first step in evolution will happen when a person ask why the use of tools was the first step of their last evolution state

  • @Begonch got that.

  • @MrJoeCARALHO it was the first step in evolution because men started to use weapons and made them stronger and smarter

  • That monkey reminds me of me when I am trying to open a bag of chips

  • Grampa?!

  • "Evolution...From bones to bombs"...

  • the anger of having a ex wife crush the bones and pretent its her.

  • WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Ceasar is home

  • uhm...we have 2 fucking idiots!

  • trick a treat

  • This just makes me smile.

  • What a difference between this Kubrick movie and Lolita.

  • What a difference between this Kubrick movie and Lolita.

  • some deep comments about monkeys throwing shit in the air

  • Please, allow embed play... you're missing views because of it

  • That person does not like the video is James Cameron

  • @nanosalluzzi James Camerons assistant came in to.

  • Well, Cameron does love this movie so...;)

  • @nanosalluzzi LOL. Because there's no girl ape demanding they save the boar, not kill it?

  • @nanosalluzzi well, 2001 is one of his favourite movies

  • @nanosalluzzi yeah ur right Jame's Cameron is a horrible director he's poisoning children's mind's with his crap im only 12 but i see right through him he is stupid nowadays people are actually comparing Avatar to this it was cool in 3d but the whole movie sucked people are just to stupid to understand this film thumbs up if im correct

  • @CroatianUnion James Cameron has done some pretty epic films, Avatar, if you had listened to why he made it, was simply to show off the graphics capability. Furthermore, this film is not hugely difficult to understand, its just not the best movie ever made. Moresoever, if Avatar 'sucked', remind me, which film made more money?

  • @Doomsls The Smurfs and Cars 2 made alot of money. Are those good films? Just saying. I think James Cameron is an excellent director though

  • @Doomsls u wanna go there u think avatar is better than 2001 u r stupid Avatar was made to make more money this is an art film

  • I didn't know Kubrick made a "Planet of the Apes" mini series -__-

  • @thecolourfive Incult faggot

  • @Chaloupe89 Ironic humor hater!

  • @thecolourfive Muh sorry

  • Excelente escena

  • best scene ever

  • "this is fucked" and 300 views is all this clip can get? This scene is amazing and has defined not only a moment in the evolution of man but also an instance in the evolution of cinema. Great Scene...Kubrick is a F***ing artist.

  • @hopdevil007 Actually, the scene in Mel Brooks "History of the World, Part 1" is probably more accurate. But this is great art.

  • Comment removed

  • @hopdevil007 yea but evolution of men didn't exatcly happened how is portrayed in this scene. Just like Da Vinci's last supper was not culurally correct (they didn't use tables or chairs on the location where Jesus supposedly existed : D) .

  • LMAO this is fucked.
