I've had 3 HTC Android phones. First the HTC Hero 2nd the HTC Desire and right now i've just renewed my 12 month contract with the HTC Sensation a,k,a HTC Pyramid. Even though i very much like my HTC phones i really am attrackted to the Lumia 800 but i wish that the specs were slighly better like dual core cpu 8mp camera with 1080p video recording front camera and maybe more. I think i'll still gonna buy the Lumia 800 if it gets a bit cheaper as my HTC Sensation is cheaper and better spec'd!
great review, mate. thx a lot... do u happen to know if the nokia music services are going to come to germany in their whole range, and if so, when?? presently at least the mix radio services cant be offered here due to content claiming issues by the GEMA.. and is it already approved that the lumia 800 will also get updates for the windows phone 8 os?? i heard there are some uncertainties in that matter.. thx in advance
great review- i really like the design of the phone.. i fee like huge screens are overrated- i'd prefer to hold a phone, not a flipflop, up to my face :)
i currently have the HTC inspire (4.3" display), and am looking for a smaller phone.. i'm also excited to see what else WP7 has to offer while i wait for this beauty to come to the U.S.
I used the Lumia 800 in PC world today and couldn't pit it down. Beautiful piece of kit, whilst i really want the N9, this phone is much more attainable here in the UK, and I plan to get one. May wait for new year though.
really good to see HD2 which changed the look of the smartphones after iphone first introduced. No one compares to HD2 with other devices anymore; which is unfortunate cause HD2 was the best smartphone when it launched.
@WP7User Really? How would having extra storage for music pictures and videos compromise speed and OS experience? I'm not talking about installing apps to micro sd.
@mkr10001 The chances are even if it does come with microSD it will not be hot swappable. I do think there'll be a higher end model with more on board memory at some point though.
@mkr10001 Yes agree. The cards have to be Windows Phone approved, some of yours might be. Would be usable in a device like the Lumia 710 in that case. I guess for most 16GB is fine, but can definitely see the case for 32GB so you can carry more music and video.
I was really unsure about the Windows Phone choice , being acostumed to Android and iOS , the windows OS seemed to me ... claustrophobic.. still this phone looks good and.. well its nokia and nokia its a guarantee =D
@MrAndreCoutinho The battery etc is not dispalyed by default, but if you pull down (swipe) from the top of the screen they appear. IIRC signal will show if there is no signal (i.e. when you might need to know).
Notifications can be done on tiles (e.g. missed calls, new email, new messages), but you also get 'toast' notifications that appear on the top of the screen. They appear, then go away. There's not a central notification page, this is perhaps an area that could be improved.

@chltmdwp Yes HD2 was ahead of the curve in quite a few ways (design wise at least).

Not sure whether to get this or wait and see if a better one comes out.....with things like front facing camera and micro sd
mkr10001 4 months ago
@mkr10001 Micro-SD won't come to Windows Phone, sorry. This is because Microsoft doesn't want to compromise speed and your experience in the OS.

@mkr10001 Heh - the advantage of this charger is that it is rapid. Around two hours - a lot faster than some usb based chargers.
