That's why I play like JACK ! The older I GET the more I sound as far as the guitar my dear friend Hugh Dunham is no longer with us . One of a kind like Frank who also is gone T.C.
No one's asked, but I'll relate 2 curious bits of info on this number:
1. Frank complained that Jack wouldn't stick to root functions in his bass playing (feeling Jack needed pointers I guess)
2. Jack maintains in an interview that he DID NOT play the bass part here at all, credit notwithstanding; that he played, like, fluglehorn or something somewhere else on the Apostrophe LP after Frank asked him 2 sit in (they were both recording LPs at Electric Lady Studios that day). Odd.
Not perfect (not asking it to be) but fairly true to the feel of the original. It would be nice if you posted it with the correct song title: Excentrifugal Forz
all u fucking whingers, dont u get it ,its not about how good it is,its about keeping FRANK ZAPPA alive....come and play at my party anytime....do u know...my gtr wants to kill ur mama ???my python boots r to tight
@zapupatar cool ,meant well enough BUt as they say- "the road to hell is ,paved with good intentions" :) you guys had yourselves one nice boogie there. It was fun being in the "audience" that's for sure
I think they all have a pretty fair take on the original arrangement/ turned jam - sounds like they were having a blast doing it . Dear Santa all want is a F'n Pignose.
@Merlin97 - It's a camera trick. The bass player and guitarist are one and the same. I'm actually a bass player who plays a little bit of guitar, hence the bad guitar playing!
I am an old Zappa freak and want to tell you guys you did a wonderful job on this tune.. My second most fav Zap album (second ONLY to Joe's Garage). Thanks for posting!!
bruce did not want this jam session used on apostrophe, zappa used it anyway.. zappa was quoted as saying bruce was really hard to play with because he played like a lead guitarist and was all over the place instead of just laying down root notes..
I believe it. Zappa was a brilliant arranger and conductor - Bruce was a genius improv player (although both were pure genius). Guess it didn't mesh, but it sure seemed to on this tune! Glad FZ put it in!
ambasador clear bottems, ambasador coated tops,on the two toms. coated cs on the snare. clear pinstripe on the bass drum. ambasador coated display. I tuned the whole kit to my grannys wedding dress!x
Awesome... best cover I've heard. Really has the original sort of feel to it. Some suggestions tho, the bass sounds a bit too scooped. Mayb that's just the video used to capture this but neway just saying. And I think the guitarist should addd some more presence to his sound, then u guys would be smoking!... O ya, and where's the rest of the song!!!
I'll second that, the drumming is very very good ,now that's not a whinge. Can I party?

Bass work and drumming is admirable - the drumming better than anything else. Guitar "solo" was laughable.
jxbouw 1 year ago
@jxbouw ....as were a bunch of zappa's "solo" ....but i gotta agree with you, this guy is kind of missing the point of the song.

Hey, whats up bass. I need to know how you are getting that Jack Bruce bass fuzz. Is it your amp, bass, or pedal. All three?
