@xxReaverXXCerberusxx good point! there should be a prepping book out there written by a woman, for woman. woman are by instinct highly protective of their kids but you need to get them into this by appealing to their gathering instinct (yay storing canned food is fun!), not the hunting instinct that guys appeal to with talking about guns and ammo etc.

Another suggestion to bring females online with prepping is to have a similar convo to what ThePatriotNurse suggests and then for men to ask, "On Sunday Afternoon (or whenever you get coupons in your community), can we sitdown together and clip coupons for things on the grocery list."

That way you can get some two for one deals, extra food in the house, and for women who are worried about the impacts of prepping to their food budgets, it releives their fears.

I'm a little lazy right now. 12 hours work and 2,5 hours jogging will do that. I bought a pellet gun and pellet trap to ge tmy wife into shooting. It gave her a chance to get used to guns, learn the sights and most importantly gun safety before hitting the range.

Great video. I first turned my girl onto the idea with food surplus. I told her I wanted to build shelves and put a deep freezer in the basement. We buy in bulk when they have a good sale. So the long term cost savings sold her. Then I switch to gardening wich she was alittle against until she got to enjoy the results no we are expanding. You bring a good point. Keep it up.

(4) Discernment in all things is paramount; we need to exercise caution --stupidity and rudeness are effective killers too 5) Being a living example of a "non-nut" speaks volumes, esp to newbie

The way I see it..The politicians created the problems. Law enforcement, the courts, and the military are the force behind the politicians. If the SHTF, they will act (right or wrong) as the politicians direct them to. The Constitution will become null and void and anyone trying to protect themselves, or refuses to comply with their orders will become a threat. The military and law enforcement will become the enemy of the (free) people as history has demonstrated.

What is gonig to happpen in a SHTF situation is that women will be caught as much off guard as the men and once they figure out that you know whats up then they will either follow you for a while or try to roll you for your supplys. They may have prepped for a hurricane/tornado/earthquake but if they arent prepared for more than 10 days then your gonna get rolled for your supplys.

Unfortunately my wife is in complete denial. No matter what angle I try .from buying extra food to planting a garden to canning and long term storage... I haven't even talked tactical yet. She thinks I'm crazy. It breaks my heart to think that in the event that something horrible happens, I will be alone. Even if I am able to "be ready" for 2 if and when the time comes.. she won't be able to handle it mentally/emotionally. God forbid the day comes.. I can't be strong enough for both of us.

Show her what happened during the Great Depression and Katrina and put it in todays perspective. Good vid! I feel with prepping its has to be a total package. You need to be able to defend your supplys that you will spend time and money stock piling. Good point with that first conversation with you significant other, if they are not on board with the idea start small with some basic extra supplys. Work up from there and get them to watch this and MR L&L's channel.

It's the opposite with my husband, I'm the prepper and had to convince him to prep. I started with him by talking to him about preparing for a bad storm or hurricane. After he accepted the fact that we needed a BOB and food storage, we added other preps. Then we added security. I think that women make very good preppers. We often are very good at organizing and after raising a few children, we have great skills to get things done on spur of the moment.

This could go the same with telling your hubby/boyfriend about prepping. I've been doing my own prepping for the last few months, but hubby thinks it's silly and nothing will ever happen. I tell him I'd rather have the supplies and not need them than need them and not have them. I raised the topic of guns and other protection last week and he said guns are not the answer!! My 15 and 11 year old know how to shoot, hubby not happy. Guess I'll take the role or protector if/when the time comes.

I also think that for some people with families, it is helpful to approach the situation from the perspective that they are doing something great for their families and/or their children. None of us wants our kids to be uncomfortable or go without, this is how I helped one of my co workers to start waking up. She actually asked my husband to make her a can rotator cabinet like mine. I would also suggest to do " everyday things" to implat the need to prep. Watching movies for example, that have a certain theme to them like The Road, Defiance, and others will help with your cause. The more that you can expose your spouse ( husbands also ) to the fragilie state that we all live in,the more they will warm up to the idea.

I think anyone who is even considering any kind of preparation has learned that most people are simply unreceptive to the idea. I believe it has largely to do with comfort zones.

I believe the majority of folks simply do not want to face the possibility of an emergency in the short term, much less a longer lasting thing like Katrina or worse. They don't or won't watch the news, and live in a quiet blissful ignorance.

Sadly, we can't help them all. It'll to be horrible if it it ever happens...

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Surely a person's time is more usefully employed by seeking out receptive people, letting go of those who don't want - for whatever reason - to take responsibility for their own lives.

That said, any individual guy does need to consider his prepping and if it consists largely (or exclusively) of the paramilitary stuff (and excessive numbers of guns and knives) then he's not actually prepping, and his SO is right to be dismissive.

Such a perceptive woman is rarely seen in the world these days. Just an idea, it might be useful for someone to make a "Newbie" video, as a way to introduce prepping to those who aren't familiar, or are just getting into it.
