LOL Some of the comments for this video are quite amusing, to say the least - although it was somewhat difficult reading them considering the majority of people from Dundee apparently have no understanding of the English language. (Seriously guys, study the dictionary once in a while).

I was watching the demolition just a few yards up the path from where this was filmed. It didn't take long for the dust to fill the area, it was rather funny watching people running for their lives.

Great video. But I feel kinda sad watching these tower blocks go. My dad helped build them in the late 60s, and later I had a regular job delivering papers there. Barely 30 years later the powers that be started to flatten these multis.

All I can say is, thank goodness Dundee Corporation/Tayside Regional Council never built the pyramids. They'd have pulled them all down a few decades later and levelled the lot! ;)

I never grew up in Ardler, but my mother (who you hear on the video) did, along with her sister, mother and father. I too have fond memories of the original Ardler, the large playing fields next to the church (which from the video you can see is now houses), the old shops with the flats above, with the Police station and Parks Dpt. Depots, and the Garages between the multi's that always seemed to be on fire!....oh God, does this mean i'm officially old? lol

It was shot downwind of the demolition, it took only around 10 seconds for the dust to reach us. (Did anyone else smell the explosives in the air afterwords?) Was like a scene from the September 11th Disaster, quite daunting.

Great video. I grew up in Troon Court which was in the first block to be demolished. I have great memories of growing up in Ardler, it's a shame to see all the multi's gone now.
