Oops, some idiot has got his quasi-operatic melodramatic covers mixed up. Apologies to Celine Dion (I'm sure she visits this page.!) make that Whitney H's overkill from The Bodyguard (I will always love you).
Beautiful love song that I've loved for seemingly forever and a day, how it's never been covered and been a major hit and ruled the world is beyond me!!!!!
@landrykkb Hi landrykkb, the main point at what I was getting at was not that it had never been covered but that it had never been covered and become a massive hit.
@MACHAWK123 I'm actually glad it never did discovered by the masses because I wouldn't appreciate it as much if it was.A song loses appeal to me when it's overplayed.I actually wasn't sure if you knew the Dirt Band covered it was all I meant.
@landrykkb Thanks landrykkb, no I didn't know the NGDB had covered it and I do sort get where you're coming from r.e. overplaying. I wouldn't want the sort of Celine Dion 'Heart Will Go On' overkill of the Dolly Parton song, more something like when Rod Stewart covered Tom Wait's Tom Trauberts Blues, it would help give Mike the recognition he deserves and you'd still have the original to dream on. It would also make some people look at his back catalogue, which would be no bad thing. Cheers.
I met Michael a long time ago in San Antonio. We were riding our horses down the street where his uncle lived (though we didn't know it then) He was out in the yard. We stopped to ask for autographs (1967 - we were 13) and he kindly obliged. He was a nice guy and a great songwriter. I bought this Lp in college when it first came out and wore it out. Great songs. He's a great talent and I'm sorry he hasn't gotten more respect and a greater audience.
He tried to have a successful post Monkees career, but labels and producers couldn't get passed the wool hat image. Which is a shame cause He has always produced good product. His song writing is absolutely head and shoulders above his contemporaries.
Hi Sheryl! I've had this song/video in my favorites list forever, but didn't realize it was yours! I added you to my subscriptions list! Keep up the good work!

@GonzoGuyy That's a shame indeed, and he wouldn't have sold out to record companies and producers either.

Fantastic song. Mike's solo stuff is terrific.

I love this song. My uncle used to play it for me when I was little. Now I am 42. This song is great and meaningful if you actually listen to it.

Whatever happened to Mike. He was a great composer. His song, Joanne, is amazingly beautiful (and sad).
