i watched this cool documentary last month on sky anytime tv and the whale ate jaws was there so i watched it, now hwat the whal did was just go up to the shark, and the sahrk didnt provoke it. Well the whal had a little 1 next to him too. the whale went to jaws, turned him round put him in a catatonic state, the great white suffocated and the whale ate him. and that very whale was identified as completely normal,a whale researcher even knew that whales name before the attack.

Saw program about this last night. Killer whales so intellegant. Showed how groups of whales can learn very different skills to hunt very different prey. Some whales may have learned that when a shark is filpped upsidedown it is put into a catatonic state. If they are left in this state with no water moving through their gills they will die. After watching the program still believe the whale may have got lucky that the manover worked so well against a shark as big as a great white.

Yup, orcas do kill baby whales and eat mainly the tongue and lower jaw. there was a pod of whales actually teamed up with fishermen to drive whales into cove for capture in exchange for the tongue.

it wasn't a baby cub, they were two orca from a orca group called the LA pod that were being monitored. the one that actually killed the shark was named CA2 and it did it by striking the sharks side, stunning it, then turning it onto its back to put it into a tonic state where it eventually suffocated. Saw program about this last night. Killer whales so intellegant. Showed how groups of whales can learn very different skills to hunt very different prey. Some whales may have learned that when a shark is filpped upsidedown it is put into a catatonic state. If they are left in this state with no water moving through their gills they will die. After watching the program still believe the whale may have got lucky that the manover worked so well against a shark as big as a great white.

It is crazy how intelligent some orca's are. From this altercation we learned ideas White sharks are terrified of their own type of blood in the water. It seems that All white sharks within miles will leave the area quickly if they smell other white shark blood. Hunting packs of orca's have learned to put huge white sharks into catatonic state, that's what this whale did in this video off the coast of san francisco here. Their intelliigence makes them such a perfect hunter in our oceans.

The shark did not fight back because when shark are flip upside down they become immobilize. Orca do this to stingrays too. They flip the stingray upside down. Orca are smart animal they hunt in groups.

admire the great white have whole life, but killer whale at 30 ft 10 tons will smash the biggest great white with no problem. There on video killing sperm whale and there were a pod of them not gang up there were several moby dicks and they got smashed. They are also way more intelligent. Great Whites dont prey on 60ft sperm whales now do they.

Yup, orcas do kill baby whales and eat mainly the tongue and lower jaw. there was a pod of whales actually teamed up with fishermen to drive whales into cove for capture in exchange for the tongue.
There are other whales which hunt, clearly that's why toothed whales have teeth as opposed to baleen.

Unlikely. Killer whales are naturally bigger, and they travel in packs. Plus, brains win out: not only is the orca smarter (and have learned the flip-shark-over trick), but the shark knows that there are much easier prey than an orca, and would avoid it at all costs regardless of size.

What's sad is we can't even see what's going on and they think the orca "owned" the shark. It's pretty stupid because the orca has advantages that the shark doesn't, which makes it just a regular vid. Nothing special. I wish sharks swam in packs ;)

from what i observed watching wildlife tv programes is that the great white shark an agressive preditor with an instinct to strike at its prey.the killer whale is also agressive but alot more cunning. the way they work as a team is incredible to watch.

it wasn't a baby cub, they were two orca from a orca group called the LA pod that were being monitored. the one that actually killed the shark was named CA2 and it did it by striking the sharks side, stunning it, then turning it onto its back to put it into a tonic state where it eventually suffocated. (im not being big headed i just watched a documentary on this exact occurrence this morning lol)

The scene shown in Jaws II was unreal, it was a female orca (that is much smaller and lighter than a male), whilst the great white was a female, that is bigger than the male. The is no chance for any big great white shark to demolish a 9 mt x 5 ton. colossus, even if it faster and has the sharper teeth on the world

I think if a great white shark meets a great male orca both would be inclined to avoid the other one, but it is most unlikely that the great white has the courage to attack a so much big opponent. On the other hand, it's much more probable than the killer whale attacks the great white to defend their little, orca does not fear the sharks.

A fully grown male orca (5-6 ton.) has a bigger body mass than a fully grown male great white (2-3 ton.), killer whale wins hands down. Again, I never heard of a great white shark attacking an adult killer whale!

As you point out, orcas are bigger than great whites as well as more inelligent. A great white is just a big dumb, eating machine! There is NO WAY a great white could kill an orca, as was shown in Jaws II. If an orca was attacked and was in danger, it would immediately call on its family members for help! When dealing with a larger animal, orcas fight in packs!
