  • I've wanted to become a marine biologist since I was in 4th grade. The only problem is...I live in Colorado. The closest thing we have to a beach is the reservoir and my Junior High doesn't offer anything that has to do with marine biology. It's really discouraging.

  • i want to become a marine biologist, but is it really worth it? i do want to study certain types of whales and travel all over the world to study various animals, not just marine but land animals as well..I certainly do not want to work at a dam museum after all that hard work and years of school..

  • Worth it if you love it lol

  • I had interests in obtaining a degree in this field and applying it to studies in fish populations in accordance with commercial fishing, but after witnessing the means in which this data is obtained, usually by estimations which are used to impact fisherman negatively , i refrained from seeking a career in this field.

  • dam, you were not being graded for the comment..lol...you even included a conclusion! But that's a helluva comment though, every other word is a word i learned after high school..."data obtained," now that is a first

  • do you need to be good in chemistry?

  • @Orcafanx0x , I'm an organismal biology/ecology major. I had to take two chemistry classes my freshman year. Generally you don't need more unless it's an elective or you major in biochemistry or molecular/cellular biology.

  • Cool profession.

  • They make $40, 000-70, 000 a year, depending on their degree.

  • O.O whoa really? I was looking into this, i really want to do something, I love fish... but I love physics way more. Its like learning everything, and the secrets of man. Anyways i was wondering which is better, in your opinion.

  • you can make more than $40,000- $70,000,

you could make upwards of $100,000

  • and wat exactly is it that they do to earn so much were do they go wat do they partake in u know if u got info let me know plz :]

  • If you want to stay in school a few more years then you can get your doctorate in marine biology and teach as a professor at a college, that's if there is a job available, I mean some colleges will offer you to stay at there school, get the degree, become an assistant professor, and then eventually teach at their school. Hope it helped

  • really so its basically college professor hmm that sounds pretty good :]

  • Yeah, but I'd rather be like in the field or in more of a lab instead of working at a school or something, I mean I don't like school now and why would I like it later lol... This is my account that I actually make videos on.

  • true but im pretty sure alot of opportunities are going to open :]

  • Yeah, plus the ocean is still very unexplored and when we actually get the chance to work, there might be better technology

  • yea thats one of the main reasons i wanna major in it

  • Yeah, I have since I was 8 lol, it is awesome

  • must b a passion then huh

  • how much does they get paid

  • Great video! I'm glad to hear about your experience. I'm a biology major and I'm really interested in marine biology
