I suffered about 8 weeks of this shitehouse before I escaped to college. I was feeling depressed before I started A4E but felt absolutely demoralised just 1 day there. These cunts are absolute cess-sucking parasites, all of them should be rounded up, shot and burnt in a smeg-ridden sewer.
Thankfully college is great and I'm safe from these rats for about 3 years, but I feel truely sorry for anyone who has to suffer these useless gutter-dwellers, and I dread the day I may have to go back.

Little update on this incompetent company. I went to this meeting. Turned up, and asked what I was doing here by some no-mark in a shirt. He was adamant that I was here for jobs search. Wftk!!!! Turns out it wasn't a meeting. It was a group discussion for the over 50s unemployed. Do I look fucking 50!!!!!! I wasted my Saturday morning turning up to something I had no information about. I just can't believe how incredibly stupid these people are.
Then they phoned me up to tell me that my appointment has been changed. So I took the opportunity to ask this woman what this meeting was about. She said she couldn't comment and was only allowed to tell me that my appointment has changed. She put the phone down. What??!!
I spoke to the Job Centre last Tuesday and complained about these people. The woman took me aside and told me that she gets five complaints about them per week! Recently, a4e have asked me to come along to a meeting. I accepted. But findoing out what this meeting was about was impossible. I still cannot find anything about it. The people of a4e are complete amateurs.

I went to my first A4e appointment today. I left angered and distraught. I have aspergers; I cannot simply change my mindset. I have no choice but to claim benefits, and they are there for me to claim by rights. I was not aware that I could working 30 hours per week for the amount of JSA. That is slavery since 14-18 hours covers the amount of JSA.
Back at Ingeus on the new programme for 2 years, yawn!, lucky for me I'm not at A4E as found out someone I know will be there for 2 years, torture! It proves the programmes don't work as it wasn't fit for purpose when I was on the new deal.

@edinburghrr I finished JHP weeks ago back down stairs. JHP was a shambles. Also have a different adviser at Ingeus which I thought was silly as I liked my previous adviser.

Yeah it took about 2 - 3 weeks when I attended JHP. Beware though JHP only found charity shops as placements. We were lucky as nothing was in place by the time they had placements.

I saw a OFSTED report for Ingeus Edinburgh for April this year. Only 13% of those on FND found employment.
Is it just me or does everyone else get knocked back from council jobs. I have applied 3 times this year and 6 times last year for clensing and roadsweeper jobs. It seems ex-cons who get those jobs. Got to laugh at government who are telling us to get a job, I want a job but they don't understand is you have to the fill the application form first and you'll be lucky if you get an interview. The government should tell employers to give unemployed first priority to help get back on the ladder

I've been on the 13 week courses run by CDG in South London. There they stole your fares refunds (100% of the refund). Later they sanctioned them after jobcentre plus told them they had to refund your fares. Now if you pay £16.60 for a weekly bus pass, they will cut it to £8.30, and then take the ususal £4 from that, you are refunded £4.30 from a £16.60 pass!!

I heard that charity shop merry-go-round are for those clients that the provider thinks are the hardest to help, so you effectively get parked. The same happened all over the UK with other providers doing the same on the old New Deal

Looks like the same old story stuck in a loop while the private companies and the corrupt Labour party suck the system dry. After attending Ingeus for 6 Months it seems I am now being referred to another PRIVATE company for 26 weeks. To me it sounds like the same old story, stuck in a loop until you find a Job using your own initiative. The nxt phase is a work placement (fancy name for cheap labour force)
They told me few days ago, As I said Ingeus are out of there depth too many unemployed so now after being with them, I have been referred (Forced Mandatory) to the Chamber of Commerce at Capital House which they are suppost to do training etc but after 26 weeks you get sent back to Ingeus. As I say everyone stuck in a loop until they get a proper Job.
This will happen to everyone else after attending Ingeus for 5 months.

Because they do help people get into work. It can't do 100% as some people are not ready at the time they attend. I have no idea why A4e don't allow posts on their videos, sorry, can't help on that one. I don't need to get over myself. I just feel that, when people try to help (yes, they are getting paid for it) but there is job satisfaction when someone improves their life.

Ingeus are a better deal than A4E, its just you will still encounter the mishaps.
Not had any interviews since, but still early days. Ingeus staff will produce you much better cvs and cover letters, much more educated than A4E staff. But dont be fooled though they want to meet targets, they claim not wanting people to get crap hour temporary part-time jobs but when you see you adviser they are always throwing them at you even though you make it clear you want full-time permanent work.
Hopefully you'll get some more intereviews. After all, you can only do so much. Ingeus should have contacts with local employers, not just agencies. As for targets, they 'cream' the easiest to help and park the rest. I don't know how long you've been unemployed (no need to tell me) but make sure they haven't parked you and are trying to fob you off with part-time agency jobs whilst keeping the best jobs for other clients.

This country is a complete joke now. If a low income person or family goes slightly over there benefit then its fraud but if MPs fiddle there expenses they get away scot free.
Good example, Your adviser will say one thing and promises at one appointment but when you attend your next appointment he or she has forgotten the promises and help they are suppost to provide.
I even now have to email or phone them to find out when my next appointment is, when it should be automatic
Dont get me wrong its still better than A4E and f what Ive heard from the Jobcentre its always bad feedback about A4E. Lets face it if anyone encountered the french guy who works at A4E lothian rd will know he is incompetent and if there was a place in the world book of records well he would win it by a mile. And from what I hear A4E is out the window in Edinburgh shortly. Ingues has just started dealing with the FND contract but what started as a good thing as started to go down the pan.
A4e only got Edinburgh because they were sub-contracted by Glasgow based Wise Group Hope your right about them being on the way out. I remember the French guy - his suit jacket reached down to his knees. Looked like he had very short legs!!! He was so officious, most clients thought he was a manager - but he was just a tutor.

If it's any consolation it looks like I'm going back to A4e on the FND. I asked my jobcentre advisor what is the point in having 2 providers in Edinburgh if claimants don't get a choice? She had to ask a manager, when she came back the answer was "you don't get a choice, that's the way it is".

Update..Ingues in Edinburgh so far have been doing a fantastic job. Damn site better than A4E. The one to one with your personnel adviser, I now have a much better CV and have been getting results. Had a few good job interviews and its only been over a month since I started.
Every single person I have met have also said A4E was a terrible enviroment,the staff at A4E were just lazy.

I must attend 2 appointments a week which last about 1hr. Its similar to seeing your adviser at the Jobcentre. Its OK they have not got a leg to stand on if I refused a job like that. It was a bit of a cheek really, I'm sure to travel by Bus to Livingston to Gimerton just to do a silly temp job. I'll give them benefit of doubt see how nxt week goes. Yes I will complain if the keep playing that old trick.

Actually, people HAVE come up with alternatieves such as providing REAL training via colleges, the voluntary sector and non-profit organisations (such as OBLONG here in Leeds which offers training in IT using volunteers). The £700m A4e is going to make over the next 5 years could fund this.

Those who say a 'job is a job' on these and other forums could do worse than reading Polly Toybee's book 'Hard Work' where she works undercover doing low paid menial minimum wage jobs. A job IS important. However, so is enough to live on as well as security.

I worked for A4E and helped hundreds find work - A4E helped train ME... I now run my own business - A4E work - fact, they are well run and efficient and whilst Emma may not be the warmest character u will meet, she has taken A4E from £10m to £140m t/o by delivering results - fact. YOU are more than welcome to try to help long term unemployed find jobs - go on try it, I did the job and still have the thank you letters to prove it, from both candidates and employers - good for Emma.
Exploit the poor - hahah don't make me laugh.. let me tell you it's the benefits system that exploits the poor by trapping them into dependency- and as for company's I placed unemployed people in, some were smal some were large, Marks n Spencer, Burtons Plc, Taylor Barnard and loads of others - the truth is most of the people I wanted to help couldn't be helped for reasons I've mentioned namely benefits... why would someone who gets £200 a week for doing nothing want to get up and go to work?

I suffered about 8 weeks of this shitehouse before I escaped to college. I was feeling depressed before I started A4E but felt absolutely demoralised just 1 day there. These cunts are absolute cess-sucking parasites, all of them should be rounded up, shot and burnt in a smeg-ridden sewer.
Thankfully college is great and I'm safe from these rats for about 3 years, but I feel truely sorry for anyone who has to suffer these useless gutter-dwellers, and I dread the day I may have to go back.

I went to my first A4e appointment today. I left angered and distraught. I have aspergers; I cannot simply change my mindset. I have no choice but to claim benefits, and they are there for me to claim by rights. I was not aware that I could working 30 hours per week for the amount of JSA. That is slavery since 14-18 hours covers the amount of JSA.

@edinburghrr I finished JHP weeks ago back down stairs. JHP was a shambles. Also have a different adviser at Ingeus which I thought was silly as I liked my previous adviser.
No just sign as normal but at Ingues from nxt fornight, no idea how that will work as Jobcentre staff will be doing it.
Yeah it took about 2 - 3 weeks when I attended JHP. Beware though JHP only found charity shops as placements. We were lucky as nothing was in place by the time they had placements.

Is it just me or does everyone else get knocked back from council jobs. I have applied 3 times this year and 6 times last year for clensing and roadsweeper jobs. It seems ex-cons who get those jobs. Got to laugh at government who are telling us to get a job, I want a job but they don't understand is you have to the fill the application form first and you'll be lucky if you get an interview. The government should tell employers to give unemployed first priority to help get back on the ladder

I've been on the 13 week courses run by CDG in South London. There they stole your fares refunds (100% of the refund). Later they sanctioned them after jobcentre plus told them they had to refund your fares. Now if you pay £16.60 for a weekly bus pass, they will cut it to £8.30, and then take the ususal £4 from that, you are refunded £4.30 from a £16.60 pass!!
The work placement to "prospective employers" are fraudulent as well. See my channel for videos on these subjects.

After attending Ingeus for 6 Months it seems I am now being referred to another PRIVATE company for 26 weeks. To me it sounds like the same old story, stuck in a loop until you find a Job using your own initiative. The nxt phase is a work placement (fancy name for cheap labour force)

They told me few days ago, As I said Ingeus are out of there depth too many unemployed so now after being with them, I have been referred (Forced Mandatory) to the Chamber of Commerce at Capital House which they are suppost to do training etc but after 26 weeks you get sent back to Ingeus. As I say everyone stuck in a loop until they get a proper Job.
This will happen to everyone else after attending Ingeus for 5 months.

Because they do help people get into work. It can't do 100% as some people are not ready at the time they attend. Ingeus are a better deal than A4E, its just you will still encounter the mishaps.
Not had any interviews since, but still early days. Ingeus staff will produce you much better cvs and cover letters, much more educated than A4E staff. But dont be fooled though they want to meet targets, they claim not wanting people to get crap hour temporary part-time jobs but when you see you adviser they are always throwing them at you even though you make it clear you want full-time permanent work.

Hopefully you'll get some more intereviews. After all, you can only do so much. Ingeus should have contacts with local employers, not just agencies. As for targets, they 'cream' the easiest to help and park the rest. I don't know how long you've been unemployed (no need to tell me) but make sure they haven't parked you and are trying to fob you off with part-time agency jobs whilst keeping the best jobs for other clients.

Indeed, Emmas OBE is a disgrace. I didnt realise you could get one for making peoples lives miserable.
This country is a complete joke now. If a low income person or family goes slightly over there benefit then its fraud but if MPs fiddle there expenses they get away scot free.

Good example, Your adviser will say one thing and promises at one appointment but when you attend your next appointment he or she has forgotten the promises and help they are suppost to provide.
I even now have to email or phone them to find out when my next appointment is, when it should be automatic

Dont get me wrong its still better than A4E and f what Ive heard from the Jobcentre its always bad feedback about A4E. Lets face it if anyone encountered the french guy who works at A4E lothian rd will know he is incompetent and if there was a place in the world book of records well he would win it by a mile. And from what I hear A4E is out the window in Edinburgh shortly. Ingues has just started dealing with the FND contract but what started as a good thing as started to go down the pan.

A4e only got Edinburgh because they were sub-contracted by Glasgow based Wise Group Hope your right about them being on the way out. I remember the French guy - his suit jacket reached down to his knees. Looked like he had very short legs!!! He was so officious, most clients thought he was a manager - but he was just a tutor.
Did you hear Emma got a CBE for services to the unemployed and charity work. Talk about abuse of the honours system.

Since Ingeus moved to York Place but they seem to be incompetent and out there depth .
The woman who deals with me seems to blame me when she cant keep appointments, I waited 30hr for an appointment the other week and when I went back to the reception I found out that my Ingeus adviser forgot I had an appointment.
I hope the get there act together but the staff seem to be ex Edinburgh University rejects that no one will employ elsewhere.

I though it wouldn't be long before you started encountering the usual incompetences associated with these schemes. So they've moved to York Place.
If it's any consolation it looks like I'm going back to A4e on the FND. I asked my jobcentre advisor what is the point in having 2 providers in Edinburgh if claimants don't get a choice? She had to ask a manager, when she came back the answer was "you don't get a choice, that's the way it is".

Now it appears that Emma Harrison has been awarded a CBE in the New Years 'honours' list for, wait for it - 'services to unemployed people and the voluntary sector'!!! Disgraceful! Shows the 'honours' systemis as clean as a tramps jockstrap!
A clear case of knowing the right people in high places. Wonder if our mutal freind Blunkett put in a good word on her behalf?

Update..Ingues in Edinburgh so far have been doing a fantastic job. Damn site better than A4E. The one to one with your personnel adviser, I now have a much better CV and have been getting results. Had a few good job interviews and its only been over a month since I started.
Every single person I have met have also said A4E was a terrible enviroment,the staff at A4E were just lazy.

Surely A4e will only be contracted for so long, they better not be around for years to come. Even the Job Centre, who gives them the contract, make negative comments to them.

But have already had a bad experience with them in my 1st week. All the staff seem to be like robots. They are called Ingeus (Work Directions). I told the lady what work I was looking for, Full Time Permanent Work. Anyway on my 2nd appointment this week she tried to force me to do a Temp Job in Livingston and I'm From Gilmerton. No way I'm gonna temp job and that distance. Must have thought I was a muppet

I must attend 2 appointments a week which last about 1hr. Its similar to seeing your adviser at the Jobcentre. Its OK they have not got a leg to stand on if I refused a job like that. It was a bit of a cheek really, I'm sure to travel by Bus to Livingston to Gimerton just to do a silly temp job. I'll give them benefit of doubt see how nxt week goes. Yes I will complain if the keep playing that old trick.

Looks like the hell hole for me in 2 weeks time as I will find out who will be my training provider for a YEAR. Can't wait, A whole year reading out of date newspapers, waiting in a long que for a computer & suffocating in a small room full of 50 people when its designed for 8 people. Can't wait for Flexible New Deal, its just a fancy name for New Deal. I don't know where the Flexible comes from????

Lets face it - A4E is shite as is most other "training providers" - real people get off their ass and sort themselfs out witout a4e - I have worked for "training" companys and they make a shit load of dosh by keeping people in centres doing fookin crosswords and "jobsearch". Its all bullshite and no, i dont know the answer to long term unemlpoyed but A4E is defo not the answer

Why is it that journalists, both independent and from the BBC I HAVE PERSONALLY EMAILED and SPOKEN to have also found evidence of what I and others have said about A4e's dodginess and fraud? Actually, people HAVE come up with alternatieves such as providing REAL training via colleges, the voluntary sector and non-profit organisations (such as OBLONG here in Leeds which offers training in IT using volunteers). The £700m A4e is going to make over the next 5 years could fund this.
I wonder coldstreamer if when you get poor service from a company or organisation, do you sit back and accept it lest you be labelled as a 'winjer'? Good grief!

Those who say a 'job is a job' on these and other forums could do worse than reading Polly Toybee's book 'Hard Work' where she works undercover doing low paid menial minimum wage jobs. A job IS important. However, so is enough to live on as well as security.
Those such as coldstreamer seem to almost relish fraud and exploitation.

I wonder if coldstreamer is paid a bonus from A4e to talk nonsense. He constantly talks of people doing things for themelves and being motivated. I agree. However, if he thinks A4e is the answer, his morals, ethics and standards must be lower than a worms guts!
Why is it that when someone is doing something for themselves such as triaining, education or voluntary work, they are sent to A4e where they learn and recieve 100% of nothing!

coldstreamer, you still have not mentioned which A4e Leeds branch you claim to have worked in. You mention training course. I have been on training courses and seminars from Business Link amongst others and have gotten myself a BSc Hons degree - NO THANKS TO A4E! You like most A4e apologists confuse criticism with blame.
If A4e are so good, why can you not post comments on pro-A4e sites? Why have A4e treied to get at least two critical blogs shut down? Sounds like you work for a great company!

Perhaps you could learn to use a spell checker - it's WHINGEING not winjin and WHINGE not winj. I done much to expose A4e including appearing on radio phon ins amongst others - so DO NOT accuse me of hiding, okay! With staff like you, no wonder A4e is such a pisspoor company. I worked for A4E and helped hundreds find work - A4E helped train ME... I now run my own business - A4E work - fact, they are well run and efficient and whilst Emma may not be the warmest character u will meet, she has taken A4E from £10m to £140m t/o by delivering results - fact. YOU are more than welcome to try to help long term unemployed find jobs - go on try it, I did the job and still have the thank you letters to prove it, from both candidates and employers - good for Emma.

Exploit the poor - hahah don't make me laugh.. let me tell you it's the benefits system that exploits the poor by trapping them into dependency- and as for company's I placed unemployed people in, some were smal some were large, Marks n Spencer, Burtons Plc, Taylor Barnard and loads of others - the truth is most of the people I wanted to help couldn't be helped for reasons I've mentioned namely benefits... why would someone who gets £200 a week for doing nothing want to get up and go to work?
