The trouble is that Jaywick cannot fulfil the purpose to which it's now being put. The houses and infrastructure were never designed to cater for permanent residents in 1930 - let alone 2011 - and the private sector obviously won't touch it because of the flood risk.
I can't help thinking they'd be better off building a new town a mile inland and bulldozing Jaywick to turn into a nature reserve.
shit hole should be demolished, why waste money trying to polish a turd . most of the residents are junkie scum & alcholics on benefits who pay no tax!!
Come on Tendring Council get your fingers out. These people deserve better. No doubt you spend loads of money in other parts of Essex, and totally turn a blind eye to Jaywick. This is a lovely part of Essex, its part of Englands heritage. It could be made great again with tidying up etc. Lottery funding wouldnt go amiss from those fat cats at Camelot as well. If its a flood risk get a sea wall built up, theres no excuse. Rocks can be used like in North Wales. Steve... Staffordshire.
the shops need to stop selling the booze early in the morning as they are also doing jaywick down..everyone needs to stand up together not sit and moan.
We now have brillient summer fairs organised by locals, now have a new green open play area being undertaken, and have had a new MUGA play area for tourists and locals alike.
Our 200 year old Martello Tower is open most days, and holds many artistic shows,
look up " jaywick martello tower"
Our new beach has had over £10 MILLION pounds spent on it making it one of the best in Essex, tourists love it.
The bad unmade roads only acount for just 22% of simular roads in all Tendring.
i have been going to jaywick since 1978 and im still going .just wish that all the yobs and car idiots would go away. i love the place but no i go seawick .i still take my kids to jaywick and they love it to .wish they could get the investment to sort it all out .love u jaywick lots of happy times there.
We, the ones that care, do all we can to make our neighbourhood better, but our hands are tied by local goverment bureaucracy that forbids new homes replacing old ones.
Week by week, things ARE being improved, but no funding is available for the private owned roads.
One councilor reciently stated,
"each pound spent in jaywick, is a pound wasted"
meanwhile, charges of curruption have been levied by local police to a councillor over planning.
