its not that its not enough its that it might not be.. with bigger bullets doesnt mean more power its speed distance velocity I wouldnt trust a 9mm for a black bear because it can get the job done but it might not why take that risk I rather have something I know that works 12 slug shot placment counts alot no sence haveing any gun if you cant hit it.. might as well throw the gun at it if you are a bad shot.. But Ive seen bears shot with 9mm by the police and theyeatherchargethem orrunoffwounded

a 12g shot pattern with any effective load, i.e. not birdshot at close range say 12 feet or closer has a very low spread, its almost the same as shootign a pistol...its not like a shotgun will hit everythgin within 5 feet of where your pointing like people think...its a better option anyway but I can effecdtively aim my 12g while holding the camera thats why I ahve the 9, lol...

I dont know about his area, but the black bears in my area, outside latrobe, PA. The black bears are pretty friendly but still not a good idea to mess with them.

black bears kill alot oif people every year, but only when scared or threatened, if given the chance they WILL run away...the glock in 9mm was sufficient to take care of the bear had a problem arrise, but Im glad it didnt...

Id be carefuly with that trust.. because Ive seen black bears that were shot with by police that was attacking and chaseing people and they emptyed 4 clips of 9mm and the bear did not go down just became more inraged.. it took a homeowner with a 12 gage pump to come out to finish the bear off.. now 2 clips of 9mm didnt bring that black bear down the cops were like that happens all the time its shot placment on a bear and they tend to fake being dead then they get up and maul you..

Ive seen bears being shot and getting up and chargeing the wild life officers that shot it.. so now they trank the bear then a shot to the head to finish it off much safer.. Ive know people that were attacked by bears when they attack they are very very fast.. ive beeen charged by a black bear I stood my ground and yelled at it so it did a false charge then ran off.. When they are close there is no time lots of people have been killed by bears even hunters with guns..

I have had black bears take the whole bag off into the woods behind my house and then scatter most of it over a hundred square feet of forest floor. Bears are slobs. If you don't want your trash all over the drive way you need a metal can with a chain that secures the lid to the can when locked.

Sony has a very decent NightShot mode on their camcorders, Jeff. Just an idea, maybe someday down the road you'll find an interest in getting a small camcorder. The negative is that the pictures that value-priced camcorders take leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe even the daytime video footage. But it definitely works great for nighttime video footage with the NightShot.

And personally I would have loaded a shotgun with a few slugs in case it charged me. I mean I'd rather not have to kill one, but you'd be surprised what some animals can take(better safe than sorry I guess). If you have the chance watch the youtube vid of desert eagle vs hog or something like that...50 cal vs a hog and he had to use the whole clip i think.
