What a great singing group! I love The Hinsons. I sure miss Kenny. His life on earth was so short. One day, I look forward to seeing all the Hinsons. God Bless You, Gwen
My dad is 89 years old and is an old time pentecostal preacher who was annointed as he preached. As he was led he preached about hell and redemption and the power of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Not only will we not see any more groups like this there aren't that many annointed preachers where its impossible to sleep through because of His presence. Not just profession but a posession of healings, and deliverence. May repentence and seeking His face come back into vogue.
@manoffaith3112 Ya know, Larry Hinson has a church in Nashville...if you are ever here, you will be amazed. it is as close to old time Pentecost as you can get! He can preach better than ANY i have EVER heard and i have been a Christian for 38 years!
Chris left the Hinsons and joined the group her soon to be husband was in. I think it was called "The Pathways". Later they started their own group called the "Freemans" which consist of Darrell, Chris, one of Darrell's relatives, their daughter Misty and their son(not sure what his name is). They have a great sound and still do a few Hinson songs. She was awesome with the Hinsons
Jesus is leading the way...the Hinsons are leading the way in being the number one Southern Gospel group with the most talented singers -on this side of glory !!!
As children we taped this song onto a portable tape player from the radio. The sound was weak and the tape ran out about halfway through the last note. We played that tape to death. I can remember the warble that developed in the tape near the end of the song after a few years. Good stuff, thanks for posting this vid.
OMG! I remember this, too! We would lie on the floor close to the wood stove in the winter and watch the tape reels go around and around after we had spent lots of hours helping dad put wax foundation into the frames for the honey bees. ha!
dear dirk thank you a 1000,000 times for these videoes, awesome,i sang these songs for decades as a evangelist, god bless you.also do you have the song or video i feel the touch of the masters strong hand it one of my favorite, again thaaaaaank you.
Dirkworks I agree with you on the soundtrack issue I ran sound for a SG trio and every group we shared the stage with used tracks and maybe a piano to play along with the tracks. It is sad there isnt any good groups out there with good live annoited music and annoited singing to go along with the music. Being a musician it is hard to find a group with good musicians in todays SG world. It seems that the SG music today has lost the message within the music it is just pretty songs.
Thank you for posting this....I grew up listening to southern gospel music...I remember we would listen to the Gospel Jubilee on our black and white tv on Sunday morning before we went to Sunday School.....how I treasure those times and still do!!....All for the glory of God!!..Amen!!
Every now and then I have to get on here and just get really SAD at how there is NO ONE left with real bands anymore. No one to walk on stage with this kind of charisma. I would've never left Virginia to play the road with soundtracks and the overall lack of talent in SG music today. No offense to anyone out there. THINGS CHANGE. And, I have made a great living playing on these records. I just ONLY WISH that teenagers could grow up hearing this like I did! What are they gonna play now?
@DIRKWORKS Amen brother. It's a lost art. Mike W. Smith & Steven Curtis Chapman are great talents, but I also miss the Southern Gospel & Old Convention Songs. Long live Southern Gospel !!
Does anyone realize that it was LARRY that made the difference in those years. YES.. Chris was great. BUT, Larry's range allowed them to let her sing in the stratosphere. Larry's blend with Kenny was truly a thing of beauty. I didn't really know just how much until I produced their vocals on the last album. Whatever Kenny sang...Larry was all over him like a fly!
In response to this comment, you might want to read what I said in a comment up a few above this.
Could it be that the "Larry" years were what made the BIGGEST difference. No offense to Bo and Eric. Everything had to be restructured when Eric came. He couldn't get above Kenny. So, it forced Kenny to take over the "tenor" part most of the time. And, all of the "old" songs dropped a couple of steps. I know! Chris was great. And, you are correct about the best years. I just wanted to give a

Being a long time Hinsons fan I can Honestly say the "Chris Hawkins Years" were their best.
And this is a prime example. (no offense to Yvonne) The Hinsons co-hosted the "Jubilee" for many years. Would love to see more of these.
