  • @carriefannn You're 100% right. Nobody you named is Country. And thats the problem, nobody calls them ( nor do they call themselves) "country-pop" (and it really ain't even that, its like fake southern drawl flavored pop). Irony is, no matter what you call it none of em (tho Martina & Carrie have some great pipes) are half as good of vocalists as the George's, Marty's, Faron's, Hank's, or Patsy's of yesteryear. And thats just a fact.

  • Who said they had to be "traditional" to be considered country? Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Shania Twain, and Jason Aldean are hardly traditional artistis either, but they're still winning CMA and ACM awards

  • I respect George Jones, but how incredibly rude of him! Times are changing, and his opinion is not final word. Taylor and Carrie, along with Miranda Lambert and Kellie Pickler, have introduced a new generation of young girls to the genre. No one is "stealing country music's identity". If anything, they've helped it.

  • If we stuck with traditional country music then country music wouldn't be like it is today, it wouldn't be a big as it is now. They are definitely country singers.

  • I think carrie underwood and taylor swift are totally country. love you carrie and taylor <3

  • Taylor swift and carrie underwood area new type of country get over it George jones

  • Get a grip people you sound like a bunch of children fighting over a toy in

    a day care center.

  • SHUT UP George Jones!!!!!!! It's call country pop!! U know what I think George? U are old and stupid!

  • OK so I'm as traditional as the next person but George is way off on this one. True Taylor I feel is very much pop more than country but Carrie come on her music screams country all over it. but whether Taylor has stolen country Identity well that's just not true she just has not found the right genre to fit in to. so George why dont you do as the Dixie chicks do and shut up and sing!

  • helo this is country music Taylor and carrie underwood and Taylor Swift are both special people and thats true Taylor is one of those people who cares for country and she writes songs fans love her give me a break i mean look at what amazing songs she writes to answer your ? yes they both fit in DO NOT LISEN TO WHO EVER THIS GUY IS BUT HE IS WRONG

  • Music changes with the times, guys. If Carrie Underwood is not country, neither is Lady A, Keith Urban, Taylor, Brad, Martina, Faith, Shania, Kenny, Miranda, etc.

It's called "country-pop". Welcome to the 21st century! Music is going to change 10 years from now, so it's not smart to say "Oh, let's stick to them good ole' country values."

All of these artists love and honor country music, and that is what really matters at the end of the day. To say otherwise is not true. Country is cool!

  • @carriefannn that's totally right your awsome thanks 4 typing that you just made my day cya

  • @carriefannn I agree

  • TBH it't nice to see someone who actually KNOWS country music spoke out about those two frauds. Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, even THEY are more country than Carrie and Taylor. Carrie and Taylor took a genre of music that was amazing and still existing,(there are many artsits out there that are still more traditional country) and changed it into their own idea of country (fake crap) and ruined what used to be an amazing genre. Both of them are fake, Carrie is talented, but a fraud.

  • Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, while definitely great artists, are definitely not country. Loretta Lynn is country. Tammy Wynette was country. Jeanne Pruitt, Lynn Anderson, and Donna Fargo were country. What Swift and Underwood do is more or less just pop music with a fiddle or banjo thrown in every once in a while. They are great artists. I'm not disputing that. But I will definitely say that they are not country artists

  • So glad so someone said it, and it just happened to be one of my heroes (and first singer I ever heard)!!!!! Go Possum!!!!

Neither are Country, but I'll give it to Carrie that she has some pipes. Taylor couldn't sing her way out of a bag.

  • Listen to " MURDER ON MUSIC ROW " - by Alan Jackson and George Strait - that just about sums it all up about today's so called "Country Music "!

  • i agree with Hank 3, Dale Watson, and George Jones - Pop country music sucks!! It isnt country at all - its pop bubble gum music like fucking Donnie Osmond or Shawn Cassidy in the 70's!

  • There's traditional country, and modern country! Taylor doesn't fit into either category. But Carrie is def country.

  • @alexandruthegreat95 Taylor doesn't even fit into the "singer" category, lol

  • taylor swift is not country! she has shit music. but i love carrie underwood.

  • Taylor Swift is not country enough to be country. So what? I didn't even know country music existed before Taylor. Now, I actually listen to country music. I think Taylor Swift actually brought country music worldwide.

  • @variel2 Lol Country was WORLDWIDE when Hank Williams hit it big (and everyone from Elvis to Tony Bennett to Ray Charles was covering him).

And that's the problem, apparently you don't listen to Country because you don't know what it is if you think Taylor Swift is it. She isn't even a singer, much less Country. If you didn't even know Country existed before her, then you didn't know much music because Country was a huge factor in the formation of Rock N Roll & every artist that has come since.

  • @riv4life618 WAS. Excuse me for being young. They died way before I was born so how in the world would I know them?

  • @variel2 You said TS "brought Country to a worldwide audience", I was just correcting your mistake. Just because something happens b4 you were alive doesn't mean it didn't happen, or that you shouldn't know it happened. Man walked on the moon before I was around, I'd seem pretty pathetic if I didn't know or acknowledge things that happened before I was born. How in the world would you know em? I'm 22 & know them, so........ BTW George Jones is alive, EVERY1 knows Elvis, & who doesn't know Hank?!

  • @riv4life618 She did bring it to a wider range of audience. I've never heard any George Strait song or Blake Shelton song played in my country. I've certainly heard Taylor's. Not everyone lives in US. I didn't say I don't acknowledge things that happened before I was born. What I'm saying is that they're not known here. Most of the people don't know what country music is. By the way, I have no idea who's George Jones and Hank Williams. If they're "worldwide", don't you think I would know them?

  • @variel2 She didn't bring her music there, PR and the huge promotional blitz behind her did, it's all about the money NOT music. Not sure what country you're in, but apparently where ever it is you live under a rock. I'm sure your fellow countrymen would agree, lol But I digress

  • @riv4life618 If her songs aren't nice, I don't think anyone would want to listen to it. Nothing can bring it worldwide if it wasn't for her. I'm from Malaysia. Country songs are rarely played here. We're not exposed to country music. Usually just pop.

  • They said the same thing about Faith Hill and Shania Twain when they opened up the genre to allow less traditional singers in. Both times it has brought popularity to the genre as a whole, not just those singers. Who listens to old has beens anyways? ;)

  • They said the same thing about Faith Hill and Shania Twain when they opened up the genre to allow less traditional singers in. Both times it has brought popularity to the genre as a whole, not just those singers. Who listens to old has beens anyways? ;)

  • Who the hell does George Jones think he is to tell people what country can and can't be?Taylor and Carrie are both country pop artists, they've been acclaimed by teen fans and critics alike, so it's half and half. There's no really strict standards for any type of music...and both girls play guitar, piano, and are recognized by the ACM, CMA, etc.

  • Fatih Hill and Shania Twain crossed over to the Pop charts.....and weren't even trying to...were are they classified as Pop Country? Taylor is bubble gum pop hands down, there isn't even a hint of a twang in anything she sings....Carrie is the better vocalist, but she wouldn't necessarily merit country music like Reba or Dolly or even Leann Rimes....she's a two timing bitch I know, but the girl had a good voice

  • Neither one of them classify as classic true country. Carrie Underwood stinks anyway.

  • @mgvideos1000 um not at all. Carrie Underwood, is amazing

  • @livetodancexox That's your opinion and I respect it. Please respect mine. We can both share our opinions and respect that of others

  • @mgvideos1000 i didnt say i disrespected your opinion. All i was saying that it doesnt make sense to say an 2 time entertainer of the year winner and multiple grammy winner who won a singing competition and sold massive amounts of albums since.... "stinks"

  • @livetodancexox She may have won all that, but I think she stinks. I don't like her music. Do you like all the grammy winners out there?

  • carries underwood is 100% country i dont see how the fuck she is not. i agree though that taylor is not country as much as people say it is. it like teen pop

  • TAYLOR SWIFT IS AN AWESOME SONGWRITER BUT SHES NOT CONTRY AT ALL, CARRIE ISNT EXACTLY ALL THE WAY COUNTRY BUT SHES DEFINATLY MORE COUNTRY THAN TAYLOR SWIFT! dont get me wrong I <3 taylor but she need to just say shes a pop artist and not a country artist Carrie should be considered country but shes kinda boarderline between country and pop, while taylors more towards the pop genre:)

  • Taylor could be called Pop-Country, but Carrie is Country and that's all I have to say about that.

  • Taylor and Carrie's music classifies as the country music of today, not of the 1950's. To be honest, I've never heard of George Jones, but he needs to realize what year he is living in and how Country has changed since he sang it. The most popular country music artists today are not what you would call Traditional Country singers, but they are Country singers of the world today. George Jones is right that they're not 'his' country, but they are their country, as it is in the world of today. :)

  • Country music being changing in matter of fact all music is singing. I understand that Jones is a country legend and all but it is 2011.

  • Country Music now crosses over to Pop music without the artist even tryin to! so wth is he talken about

  • George Jones is a loser if he actually said that. He's just upset that Carrie and Taylor are what make Country music so popular!!!! They got the best style in country music along with Shania Twain! Taylor,Shania and CARRIE UNDERWOOD.... KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!<333

  • Also one more thing, it is true that country has changed over the years but one thing always stays the same, the new country artists always respect the ones who came before them. Just watch Carrie's duet with Randy Travis...

  • George Jones, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr, Randy Travis, Reba, Garth Brooks, Waylon Jennings, those are legends. If you ask any country artist in this decade who they draw inspiration from they will most likely name one of these artists so when you make ignorant remarks about such artists just remember these guys helped pave the road for artists such as Taylor and Carrie. :)

  • Carrie Underwood And Taylor Swift are my 2 favorite singers!! and they are country:))

  • Country music is about telling stories and being passionate about your music and your roots. That's what Taylor Swift does...and she does it quite well. Well enough to sell out every concert she plays, well enough to connect with millions of fans, well enough to sell a million albums in the first week it comes out. I think I've proven my point.

  • they never said they were TRADITIONAL country. its pop country and George Jones can go fuck himself

  • Taylor and Carrie are just good music, no matter what station they're played on. George Jones can go play.

  • Get over it Jones...nobody's listening to you anymore and you're just jealous. Genres, times, people, and things in general evolve...that's just how it is. So go cry to someone who cares...I'm sure back in your day some old fart said you were raping country, too...so get over it.

  • it's country pop

  • An old guy with two platinum albums. Or Taylor swift-three MULTI platinum albums. Carrie Underwood-also three MULTI platinum albums. Hmm Carrie and Taylor are more successful. And are both country.

  • I don't disagree with Jones.

  • Of course their country singers!!!! I bet that guy is just jealous of how amazing they both are...what a jerk.

  • Fuck that jerk.

Carrie and Taylor are my two favorite singers. They ARE true country artists.

But if I had to classify them, their genre would be this:

    AMAZING.

  • I AM NUMBER ONE FOR T.SWIFT SHE WANTS TO CALL HER VERSIONS COUNTRY THEN SHE WANTTS COUNTRY we live in a new age where country is completely different and carrie and swift show that in light <3 they are not traditional country singers as u can see and swifts genre on itunes even says country pop! what more do u want i understand jones feels threatened by new ways but i dnt think he can help it deadline fact is : swift and underwood r amazing singers with a country swag

  • This clown..he doesnt realize that it is because of artist like Carrie that country is even relevant.. His traditional country died with all of the old ass rednecks that listened to it way back when..

  • He is just using their name for fame !

  • its modern country that carrie underwood and tayor swift sings

  • Damn he's not saying they suck, he's saying don't call what you're doing country music..it's not!!

I mean cmon really, singing Aerosmith at Country awards........yeah thats not country!! why doesnt he talk about Colt Ford?? Who the fuck is Colt Ford is why!!

  • @BtokN

A lot of Aerosmith stuff is just rocked up country.

  • @TaylorSwiftFan399 your right there but as you can see that in today's time thats what most of these new female country singers do to make music not George jones acting like he's Roy Orbison he sucks at singing anyways

  • @EliT3man yeah,i agree

  • Jones is a Fucking idiot get off your fucking walker buddy your a fucking old fart, your not even a real cowboy, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, George strait, are real cowboys and great singers including Carrie and taylor so shut the fuck up

  • @EliT3man HOW FUCKING DARE INSULT A TRUE COUNTRY LEGEND LIKE GEORGE JONES

  • Taylor Swift is pop,she has one country song in her album

Carrie has a little pop & rock in her songs, but still country

  • I consider them country with a little pop sound to them. But there was a time country was wanting to go pop! Remember?! Why can't he gripe about Colt Ford? -- That's who the real war is against as far as I'm concerned.

  • Comment removed

  • Yea i think George Jones needs to pull the stick out of his ass there both really good singers but people pefer the new country style is better then it has EVER BEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm a huge fan of taylors and yes her sound is very pop but her lyrics and and emotionals that are strung into her songs is what makes her country....the same goes for Carrie who isn't very pop but sometimes has a little rock in her sound.

  • @MyTiger44 I'm not pretending. They both are country. Country music has changed. It's different then it was before.

  • I agree with George about Taylor. You always hear Tayler on pop stations. You never hear Carrie on pop stations. Taylor is still country in her own way. I have nothing against Taylor I love some of her music. But Carrie she is a true country artist. But i agree with one of the posts from earlier that said that George needs to realize that he is living in 2011 not 1950! But I will never stop loving country music! I will listen to it until i die!! :)

  • psh whatever they didn't steal anything they both became got succesful because they both are amazing

  • They are regular country for now... but probably not in 20 years from now. Soon it will be known as the past country... music (even country) is always changing and always will...

  • Carrie is country. Fact!

  • Post Country?

  • A lot of the "country" music coming out of Nashville these days is "dressed up Pop"... but don't blame it all on the artists. A lot of it has to do with the "suits" that run the record labels. They figure "lets just throw a fiddle or a banjo in the mix, and we can sell it as country". If folks like it, fine... but don't call it country, because it's not. You want a good example of MODERN "traditional" country? Listen to Brad Paisley's music. No rap drum beats, and no flanger on the fiddle.

  • Wow he's an idiot. They BOTH are country. In Taylor swifts new song "mean" you can hear the banjo. And she said her music influences wer the Dixie chicks shina twain and faith hill. And carre is country cuz she is

  • @teamboobooseth1 you can't really be that dumb. i hope you're pretending.

  • @hicktown125 i know who keith whitely is and i relize that taylor swift is like taht but carrie grew up and country and she sings real country but she adds a pop country twist to it and george jones has an opinion like i said and so do you and so do i yeah i get it they arent traditional but country music has evolved think about it jason aldean isnt that country miranda lambert and blake shelton are country so carrie and taylor are a different kinda country

  • Pop-country is so much better than traditional country.

  • I love both Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. I have thought from the beginning that Taylor isn't country. Her new album Speak Now isn't even listed as country! Taylor Swift is in the wrong genre of music! Carrie Underwood however is definitely country. You can't even question it! She doesn't go around singing yee'ha and stuff but every country artist has their own twists to their sound. and obviously country music likes her! have you seen how many awards she has gotten?! CARRIE IS COUNTRY!

  • Every one siding with George is obviously some banged up old person who's probably got days left to live. Carrie and Taylor are country girls. Carrie's from Checotah and Taylor's from Pennsylvania. Both admitted to listening to Shania, Rascal, Tim, Dolly and all those other country artists. It's just that they're not close-minded dimwits like you guys. What they do is the EVOLVED kind of country music, the one for the year 2011 not 1950.

  • Seriously, George? You're dissing a 28 year old country girl who's been around for 6years and has 3x more awards than you do?! She has 3 albums, 13 number 1 hits, 100++ awards and has been around 6 years. You on the otherhand have about a dozen albums, 14 number 1's, 37-39 awards and has been around for 6 DECADES. You idiots do the math.

  • If singers did not try to be different and keep up with the times we would not have the legends we do today ! Dolly Parton is traditional country and then Country pop too ! I dont see him complaining about her, And thats because Dolly Parton COULD buy a million times over

  • ITS CALLED COUNTRY POP YOU IDIOTS ! It all started with legends like Dolly and Shania !! Its still country !!!!!

Sorry to say this but traditional Country music is fading away. I love Traditional, foe example i like Dolly, Tammy, Loretta and Patsy Cline. I do feel that country has merged with pop, and that started with Dolly, then Shania and now Taylor and Carrie. I think this is the future of country music, this music is bringing country to younger people and people all over the world.

  • I agree with George .... not true country.

  • excuse me?? HE TRYING TO USE THEM FOR FAME! this makes me mad...

  • well...carrie is more country than taylor : /

  • There's a reason it's called NEW COUNTRY

  • If Geoge Jones was a newbee and tried to bring his kind of country music to a record producer today, he'd get laughed at a tossed out the door. Also, who gives a shit what a habitual drunken wife beater has to say.

  • Country today is not the same as it was in the 50's. Music, like anything else, evolves. Carrie and Taylor's music is country of the 21st century, which is something very different from country from George's time. Some of their songs might be a little more pop than country, even for the 21st century, but both artists are still generally country. Quoting Taylor Swift it's a "spill over". They are country artists that are "lucky enough to have a few hits on the pop charts." I love these girls! :)

  • what's wrong when you don't make traditional country music?

  • The true country has died years ago. the new country music has that pop sense to it. George Jones has to realized that he is living in 2011 now, not 1950 anymore.

  • @MrDps0711 amen !!!!

  • george, and jones are retarded... Carrie and Taylor are a new style.. so what without the Beatles trying to be different there would be nothing good out.. Same with what Carrie and Taylor are doing..

  • George is right.

  • George Strait and Garth Brooks don't talk shit 'bout country like George FUCKING Jones do. I WAS A FAN. I WANT HIM TO DIE NOW.

  • DAMN, GOD. He's just jealous how Taylor and Carrie got more Grammys in just few years and got more than one award at a night.

  • Just so you know, George... I listen to you because of Carrie and Taylor.

  • this is really stupid i cant stand fake sh*t!!!!!

  • Alright I love George Jones but he has no right. Of course it's not "traditional country" there's no such thing. Country music changes with the time period if he is insulting Carries music he's insulting every other country music singer right now. This is current country music not 80s not 50's but right now.

  • Country is popluar because of Taylor Swift:)

  • @Super13Fearless your wrong there my friend

  • music of all genres evolve over time. rock music, hip hop, ect. what still classifies taylor as country is the chord progressions which were originally a mix of blues and western swing. country music evolved from the same style that rock and roll came from. a mix of european and west african music.

  • I highly doubt that Carrie and Taylor are keeping country music popular! Now I'm not completely dissing Carrie and Taylor, I like "some" of their music, but I agree somewhat! I mean really all music has gone to shit, but if you want to be POP do that, if you want to be country do that there is no in between!!!!!! Some people don't know "good music" when they hear it! :))

  • Does it matter? Its good music =)

  • @Eetrinate actually it does to people like me who only like country..... its being discontinued thanks to these too mostley..... they opened so many doors for more pop acts that have no country influences and its going to just keep getting worse and worse..... Hank would roll over in his grave if he knew what was going on.... God rest your soul

  • Comment removed

  • @Hicktown125 O...Honestly I listen to and like country music, but I don't know this genre that well. In fact, I actually started listening to other country singers because of Carrie..so...@@...its that good or bad?

  • george jines is a traditional country artist who likes to stay to his roots he doesnt understand that carrie and taylor are pop country carrie and taylor both do some tradional but they are not fully tradiional obviously george likes trditional so he probably doesnt like others such as lady antebellum or carrie or taylor its his opinion and he can be verbal just like us so i dont think it matters its his opinion and its your opinion

  • @megadancestar1 well i understand what your saying but Carrie and Taylor are not even close to being even partially country..... its pop with a little mandolin, a little fiddle and some twang every now and then..... The meaning of traditional country is Keith Whitley... look him up.... and these two are taking over the genre just for money in their pockets.... they dont even have many country influences

  • who the hell is that old bastard.. Jealous of Carrie and Taylors success much? They are the ones keeping country popular atm, your welcome.

  • @VanilleAlistair you should be ashamed.... George hasmore success then both of them put together.... they are not keeping coutnry popular because they dont sing country music.... they wrecked country if thats what your trying to say... and they made a completley new genre and opened many doors for further to come... Nobody cares how popular a genre is if it means changing it completly....

  • @Hicktown125 no he doesn't.. he is a nobody compared to carrie and taylor.. everyone knows who carrie and taylor are.. they both have the most success in country and win all the big awards.. this old guy doesn't even get talked about by anyone anymore.. he is completly forgoton and irrelevant.. Carrie and taylor have taken the country world by storm.. Making it more popular than it has ever been..

  • @VanilleAlistair Are you 15 years old? George Jones has had a career spanning 40+ years. I imagine Taylor Swift will last about as long as it takes for the next 15 year old, blonde studio whiz, to get real popular, I believe she's a sincere performer, but there are many that are alot more talented with no slick record producer and make-up company behind them. Try listening to Satelite radio where your ears aren't being bought and paid for by some corporation.

  • What they fail to mention is that George Jones never specifically mentioned Carrie or Taylor in this interview. George told this to Carrie in person after this story went out, and they had a nice conversation. This is just the media twisting words around like always.

  • Does it really matter if they are country or not? they are popular, and country music has evolved. Pop country still has the word COUNTRY in it. Just like there are sub-genres in every other type of music.

  • George can shut up! I love him, but I don't agrre.

  • I agree with george.

  • i hate that george guy stupid guy right

  • Everyone Who Say Their Not Country LIsten To Our Song Exetremely Country!!!

  • NOTHING COUNTRY ABOUT SWIFT AND UNDERWOOD AND MANY OTHERS!!!!!!!!! its not even pop country.... its just not country music.... the lyrics absolutly suck

  • "Welcome to the future" we arnt back in the times of the 50s and 60s where george and all the traditional country artists were in there prime. and lets face it, if traditional country music was all that was being played in todays times, we would be down at the bottom of the music industry instead of where we are at now. Yes the traditional artists did start it off, but u have to change the style to keep it going in todays times.

  • i cant believe some people are saying that carrie and taylor are not country music artists. Were not back in the times of the 50's and 60's when some of the traditional country artists were big. But times have changed and country music is always changing. If traditional country music were being played all the time in todays times well.i dont think country music would be where it is at right now as one of the top leading genres in the world. as brad paisley put it "Welcome to the Future"

  • @bissneg1 nothing wrogn with changing it a little bit.... but Swfit And Underwood carrie absolutley no elements of country whatsoever to their music.... think bout tht

  • These two shity artists are NOT country. It`s an insult towards Johnny Cash (Happy birthday Johnny), Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris and all those other great country artists to even suggest that these two crapy artists are country, they are just a product of the crapy music industry now a days. I can`t believe how people are being fooled into thinkin`that they are Country music. Listen to Buck Owens or Lefty Frizzell, two great legends and then compare Carrie and Taylor with them

  • CASH/LOVETT/PARTON are country. These chicks are POP.

  • Most artists today are not traditional country. Each individual brings their own personal style to country. Artists should not be imprisoned within the boundaries of genres. Creativity and honesty is what makes great artists. "Traditional " is not the only style. Music has and always will change with time. If every artist had the same style just imagine how boring that would be. Traditional country is amazing and so is the music that Carrie and Taylor create. Genres Suck!

  • i personally love them both...

  • i personally hate taylor swift....and carrie underwood

  • @rrr13rcc Yeah, he understands alright! He said it himself, and you just said it too! They aren't country! They need to get off the country radio stations. It's just not them two though, it's 85% of them on the country music stations. For instance there's some cat that sings about liking his chicken fried. It is an absolutely stupid song, and has absolutely nothing to do with country music.

  • @rrr13rcc You shouldn't be let anywhere near a 'country station' if you aren't at least aware of the magnitude of 'this george guy' That 'guy' has been singing what is considered country by likely >90% of the listening world, and I'll bet that Ms's. Swift and Underwood certainly listened to him. Learn your history before you condemn it so freely.

  • @rrr13rcc this george guy? That's a legend and if you don't know who he is, then you damn sure shouldn't be listening to ANY kind of country....

  • He is just old.. and doesnt like change.. like other old people.

  • The only time Carrie has been traditional is when she covered Randy Travis' song "I Told You So" and as for Taylor, she hasn't been country since day one. I'm a fan of their music. but i consider them more pop than anything else.

  • they're using the popularity of country music? since when Country music is popular? only in the usa, Taylor is doing a world tour, where are the others country artists doing it? only in the usa.

  • @agostinawilliams: True. Taylor Swift is known in Europe, Carrie Underwood is not. I live in Germany. Carrie Underwood does not exist in Germany.

However: Knowing Carrie Underwood, I will always prefer Carrie Underwood, personally and musically.

  • ugh true country sounds waayyyy to twangy. i dont listen to country from before the 80's

  • WTF is with all tghis georghe jones hate . He a motherfucking legend but you fakeass pop "country" lovers wouldnt know that becaus eyou never listen to REAL country music.

  • hell yeah man . George jones tells the truth. What they call "country music" is neither country nor music. You cant have any balls or grit anymore because you have to bend over for the middle age soccermoms and teenyboppers. Fuck Carrie underpants and talentless swift.

  • ive never been a george jones fan...they used the popularity of country music? really as i recall country wasnt to popular till Carrie and Taylors crossovers...not to mention Rascal Flatts, are they stealing the identity 2?

  • There is no more country music. It died in the 80's

  • And for you HATERS if Carrie and Taylor aren't country then no one today really is nut I know that all of today's country singers are country

  • Country music uses traditional instruments. So yes both Taylor and Carrie are country

  • The only place you can find what would be considered remotely "country" is on satellite radio. The crap on commercial radio is not country. In the words of Tom Petty, so called new country is "bad rock bands with a fiddle". You want country listen to Dale Watson, someone that will never be played on country radio because he's not a 25 year old hunk or a 20 year old blonde chick. However, if I had a daughter I would much rather she listen to a talentless hack like Taylor Swift, than f-ing hip hop

  • @jiolson I agree. It's pretty sad what they call country music these days! Hell, half of them don't even have a fiddle in the band. I can't tell you how many times I've heard ppl say "I like country, just not the twangy stuff"... umm country is supposed to be twangy. As George said, country music's identity has been stolen. Not just by these girls tho, there are many of them & the epidemic started about 10 yrs ago if I remember correctly. So sad!!

  • Goerge Jones is a old DRUNK and needs to get over it... His career was DEAD long before, " It's Finally Friday" which was a fluke years ago...... If he holds true to his ideas, EVEN he's not traditional country... DO some research of the origins of the genre and you won't find George Jones there,, he came along LONG after the genre was underway as well... he's pissed that he's old,, he hated Barbara Mandrell YET sang a cameo on her classic song,, WHY because she was the hottest thing going

  • @leftfieldmind Actually Jones has been sober for a long time. Finally Friday is far from a "fluke". It's still played every friday night on country music stations all over the US & it's like 20 years old. Music changes, but most of the new stuff sounds nothing like country, that's what he's trying to say. This has nothing to do with his age, he just doesn't enjoy seeing true country music die out. The man was making hits for over 50 years, he's not jealous of these girls bc they're young!

  • @tabbs332 -sighs- THANK YOU! Damn idiots on here don't learn a little before they speak, and people wonder why technology is killing society's politeness. They're not traditional, that's all he's saying. And I can smell the drama oozing out of this clip. It's sad trash-TV, just like always.

  • @PotterPossum1989 your right

  • all these ppl labeling Carrie and Taylor etc as pop, OBVIOUSLY have NO CLUE what pop even is these days.... LIsten to a PINK or Kesha album then get back to us if you think Taylor is the same... it's time all the OLD folks, and I'm 37 for crying out loud get OVER their idea of what Country USE to be and realize what you're hearing is country TODAY and GET OVER IT....... Barbara Mandrell had it right when she said music evolves and you have to evolve with it or it dies...

  • Wait a minute...I thought we did have them in the "Pop Country" Genre? Thats what I have always told people?

  • Carrie Underwood only mad ONE crossover. He is just jealous that he couldn't be as successful as they are today. I would classify Taylor's music as country in the beginning, but now it's just pop. Carrie is considered: Country and Folk. He is jealous that he couldn't be as great as them.

  • @olafsen23 hey asshole he is the most successful country music singer of all time.taylor swift and carrie underwood couldn't stand up to him in a million years!!

  • @mark177577 Um, no right to judge me. It was an OPINION, not a fact. So you know, I have reported you for harassment. Get over yourself and get a LIFE. Peace out Girl Scout.

  • Oh come on George they are so nice and great girls they didn't steal it they made a p crossover seriously leave them alone. They are starting to get more popular but guess what that is not your problem all because they are selling great music doesn't mean you have call them out

  • Alright if this guy thinks Taylor & Carrie arn't Country I can add a few more to that list. Miranda, Keith Urban, Brad Praisley, Lady Antebellum, Jewel, Fuck even Shania Twain I guess? But lets be serious. This country may not be as much banjos and violins there were back in the day but .. they still are more country sounding then other genres. Taylor I personally don't like her but when you listen to the background music its definately country. Same with all these other new country artist.

  • @mesich22 is that why her last couple songs where higher on the pop chart then country chart?

  • @BoyNamedSue4 What are you talking about? Carrie's songs have all been #1 on the Country Charts except for Don't Forget to Remember Me. Carrie's only song to hit high on the pop chart was Inside your Heaven which she had no control of how it was recorded. Carrie actually does quite horrible on the pop charts compared to Country with only a few songs reaching the top 20 & only 3 breaking the top 10.

  • @mesich22 i was talking about taylor

  • These bitches are sellouts who will be forgotten in a few years.ie. Shania Twain. They get there on their backs make some dollars because of there tight asses and then there gone. Jones will rule forever cause he makes music that will last. Long live real country music.

  • @Plymouthfury1000 I totally agree!! They could never earn the respect George has as a country music legend. It's just not possible... the world will end before that would ever happen!! Shania Twain is so gone these days I never even hear her biggest hits on the radio anymore & that's a good thing!

  • @Plymouthfury1000

Its a little harsh to call ppl bi***** when you dont even know them personally. You dont have to like their music that is you right... but bi*****?? come on really???
