  • BRAVO!!!!!!

  • To Give a Love, You Got to Live a Love

To Live a Love, You Got to Be Part of -

When will I see you again?

Such a simple line - "When will I see you again?"

How many lyricist/musicians have ever put so much meaning into so few words?

  • when he changes from a maid to heart of is so beautiful

  • I love the Nosferatu Neil at 1:05

  • I agree , the best of the man , it moves me deep , this new work at that time . 2 news songs in a row , brillant , what can I sai ,the combination `` when will I feel this again ``

  • Is this available on video in entirety? Forgive my ignorance. I am new to Neil. He was the best discovery of 2011 for me. Seriously.

  • @EKArgyropoulos The is from the Massey Hall CD/DVD set.

  • @hiyolote Thanks. I knew about the CD but not the set. I will be purchasing a copy now!!! This is just brilliant.

  • This is hands down one of the greatest live performances from a musician in musical history. There are better, yes, but none of them are Neil.

  • Remember this well from high school...oh...forty years ago...and it still hits me in the gut as hard. Unreal.

  • To be alive to witness his genius is on of the highlights of my life.

  • @tomb613 I wish I'd had the chance to see him live but I doubt he'll ever tour the UK again!

  • Legendary

  • EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE, GREAT VOCALS...

  • This song was something to hear when I was 16 years old........now at 53 its iconic .

  • Simply the greatest

  • @katoklzmk

    yep

  • It's about ehm... It's a Broadway musical.

  • 1 dislike,oh c'mom

  • Simply stunning

  • This is truly amazing! The combination of the two songs and alternative lyrics make this my favorite version of "A Man Needs A Maid"

  • oh my,once again !!

  • AÑADIR A FAVORITOS SI O SI

  • so fuc**** great!

  • this is just so good.

  • This clip certifies the true musical genius of Neil Young. His commentary is moving and the piano renderings are hauntingly spectacular. I have watched and listened to the clip 50 times and it just never gets old. Neil Young = musical genius.

  • @MrBoston6666 yes. everything u say. i respect him muchly as a man as well as for his music....much there To Respect... ithink i love everything he ever did...but this one...if not his best at least one of the best he's ever done....

  • why were the lyrics changed for this particular version?

  • @Pyroman1990 I think it is an older version.

  • To give a love, you gotta live a love.

To live a love, you gotta be "part of" .......My next Tattoo.

  • Gotta be one of the best performances of any one at any time

  • THIS IS AMAZING!

  • ....Simply beautiful.....this song has always been one of my favorites

  • wonderful...love you Neil Young

  • Just beautiful, Beethoven-level.

  • There are so many great musicians in the world, but Neil is still unreached. Hard to say why, but all of his fans know why. That`s one of the best songs ever written.

  • This Is So Awesome.

  • I remember the first time i felt the power and energy of Neil Young & The Crazy Horse......It was so powerful that i actually wanted that part of my memory to go away........ He is to me without a doubt one of/if not the greatest communicator of feelings through music....... Music should be about people, and not money, and it has been necessary for me to come to the conclusion, that if people have the same experience about live in general as i have when im making music.. The i cant judge no one.

  • Neil has said he honors his gift by ignoring everything else when it comes.

Damn, even his comments sound like music.

  • "To live a love you've got to give a love, to give a love you've got to be part of..." Best lyric ever

  • omg he also can play the piano like a pro:O

  • What a world treasure Neil is. When I listen to him, I feel closer to the path of a true human being.

  • thanks Neil for helping this one address the disorder cause by regret. the words heard, have helped make this one aware of his narscissim. "when will I see her again..."

  • This video has been up on youtube for over a year now and has not one dislike. That has a meaning of its own right there..

  • @andrewbizz13 you jinxed this video man!

  • I did not do the disliking so I did no such thing. In fact I believe you were the individual who did the clicking!

  • I love the top comments so amazing thankfully neil Young fans understand, i just want to listen not complain!

  • Genius! Long live Neil Young!

  • the mark of a true artist...better live than on tape

  • point me to the correct path, kneel.

  • point me to the correct path Neil.

  • point me the right way neal.

  • Finished lyrics he used on Harvest much better in my opinion.

  • A fucking mazing!!!

  • Afraid, man feels afraid.

    ?

it was the first lirycs or he changed it for one night?

  • Neil Youngs' music is as real as a hear-attack.He means every word he says.Thats why i love him and his music, as there is no difference.

  • Thank You.

  • The finished version and lyrics are much better I think.

  • This is what music is all about...damn this is beautiful!

  • This is what music is about....damn this is beautiful!

  • thank you Neil

  • "Some people look at their life and say 'Well, my life's like a movie.' And then they talk about what scenes went down...And in, uh, some movies there's tunes, ya know...And, um, this is like a show tune from my movie."

  • i think this is neil youngs best work

  • he's sad.....and his music makes me feel his pain...

  • A song and a harmony I always loved

  • Neil Young is simply awesome!!! Been a fan my whole life!

  • no dislikes for a reason... great combination of songs Neil... your a genios

  • its a song about, well, its a broadway musical...NEIL YOUNG IS A GREAT CANADIAN

  • @MrFantasticSarcastic a great canadian who lives in CALIFORNIA

  • @PInk77W1 buddy shut up hes canadian get over it

  • @MrFantasticSarcastic LA HONDA CALIFORNIA babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Very very good, But I prefer heart of gold on guitar.

  • Young, you´re fantastic. This is one of the best. From Massey Hall, I believe.

  • dont talk about bieber in anyways, thats no music dudes;-)

  • Thumbs up if you think that this is one of his best performances!

  • I am a first gen here... these two songs alone are deep in my heart and soul... they way he medleys them floored me!!! Off of Live Massey Hall - the piano in A Man Needs A Maid brings me back home!!! And at the end, when he goes back to A Man Needs... is superb!!! NY a legend!!!

  • this gives me chills

  • It's funny isn't it. The sharing of videos is a great idea, and at the bottom of every page there's some mis-spelled and idiotic trolling message. "I'm 14... I've finished my homework and I'm bored...and unpopular and twisted...THIS MUSIC AND / OR BAND IS GAY. ALSO A NEEDLESS COMPARISON TO AN UNRELATED GENRE THAT I THINK IS GOOD."

It's like prank calls for the zeroes... just hang yoursleves, kids, just one less gas pump attendant in line eh.

  • lovely performance and lovely song...

  • @me4cereal ... really ? ... too bad it isn't for dumbasses ... then you could enjoy it ...

  • After you lose love this is all you want for a while because you're not ready to get back in there- but a man does need a maid that eventually he can love- again!

  • "A Man Needs A Maid" is about Neil's then-new relationship with actress Carrie Snodgress, with whom he lived for almost a decade and with whom he had a son, Zeke.

  • Is there anyone of you guys who are arguing up and down, who's aware of the fact that Neil Young himself, has always been a very innovating musician? He didn't always play this kind of music. He's called the godfather of grunge, he made music based on a lot of electronic stuff. Etc. etc... Widen your view and respect others. And indeed there's a lot of rubbish, in every type of music... but who's to decide what others should listen to? We're not living in a fascist society! Are we?

  • nuthin' like it ever

  • why is it that every time I watch a Neil young video I see a post from some kid talking about his age and how he listens to Neil?

  • @mackles Why do I have 104 thumps up? Because peoples disagree with me? Think again.

  • @godspeedyou1996 You should show your mom the 104 thumbs up so she can print it out and scrap book it next to your baby pictures

  • @mackles Why do people always disrespect eachother? I don't understand where this anger is comming from. Please explain to me why you are so angry. And this society having something to say about eachother, and what we're doing wrong. I just don't care.

  • lol dis is shit, wers tha beat? dis guy oughta listen & lern 2 sum f*kin david guetta!

  • @me4cereal HAHAHAHAHAH

  • Beautiful-Passionate-Heartfelt-Honest Music. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • This song would compliment the movie "Friends With Money"

  • several are mine

  • commenting on videos shouldnt be allowed on youtube anymore... stop complaining about what everyone else listens to. just watch, listen and be thankful its up here.

  • @mrbill224 You are so right! Indeed some people like to be negative about everything. Especially the 'trolls' are so pathetic. First of all there is a difference between quality and taste... and then, even those people that would choose to listen to music that would be of lesser quality (as far as we have a right to judge about it) do so with their good reason. Let's share what we love and respect everyone's taste and opinion.

  • @mrbill224 Behave. What you trying to do? Be a dictator?

People who want to listen to Neil Young, will do that, no matter what you say, in their own way.

To live a love, you gotta live a love..

I'm listening my face off right now. :)

  • This is the Most beautiful Version of "Man needs a Maid" I ever heard..Thanks for posting this

  • Live Love, Give Love, Be Part Of That's all

  • As a teen ager in the 2000's and before i rarley listened to anything before the 2000's. I dont buy into music as a product it is art.

  • 11-12-10..To a living legend..HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEIL YOUNG..generations later and your music is still beautiful :)

  • i need a bang-maid

  • every real man needs a maid

  • godspeed, there is room for all types of music, this isn't a compeition, there's a time and a place for Ke$ha and Bieber, there's a time and place for Neil (damn this video is sooo good). You can enjoy Neil without putting down others.

  • @solarlane10 There is neither room, nor an excuse, for Insane Clown Posse.

  • Good for you! You should tell all your classmates that if it's not 1960's and '70's Classic Rock then it's GARBAGE! This music is timeless and will NEVER be topped again! I would not even come out with music if I was today's artist trying to compete with the likes of The Beatles, Stones, Who, Neil Young, Moody Blues, Dylan, Doors, Hendrix! Look at the artists on the bills back then for Monterey Pop and Woodstock! Could you imagine those artists all in one place today? Unreal!

  • Truly a Master!!

  • Brilliant! Thanks for that version: 18+k have now enjoyed it!

If it weren't for my beautiful wife, I, too, would need a maid... lol

  • i want a topless maid....that fixs my house and then ...stays if she wants

  • what an aritist... he is amazing. but nuvorocker needs to shut the fuck up. part of peoples music is about covering songs. neil covers all along the watchtower frequently...

  • will somebody call my phone? I can't find it

  • i've seen people do covers of this song and no person has even come close to matching what neil can do. this song should NEVER be covered by anyone because nobody can or will ever be able to sing this with the soul and style that neil has.

  • Oh Neil forever in my heart you will be immortal

  • I get goosebumps when i watch this video!

  • You're a wise kid Godspeedyou. One of the best 10 songs ever

  • "to live a love, you've gotta give her love" damn i love that part.

  • @BEATIT696969 I think it's "you've gotta give A love" but your way works too :-)

  • This combination of 2 classic Neil Young songs is breathtaking.

    Long live Neil Young !

  • genius

  • godspeedyou1996, you are one smart guy, awesome comment!

  • It's so beautiful you can barely see him.

  • Me to this is good music

  • love this guy, got me thu bad time,s @ the good time,s in my life,, BIG HUG NEIL

  • wow

  • Best version i ever heard.

Neil Young : an endless well of understanding and empathy!

    :'-)

  • This is art at his best, no need for more words.

  • un-fucking-real

Best songwriter of all time and makes me proud to be canadian

  • somebody get this man a maid!

  • why dont you guys just talk about the music instead of whining about the music industry of today. Not every body listens to lady gaga and justin bieber okay? i mean does it really concern you on what the targeted age group listens to? Leif garrett was the justin bieber of the 70s. Its called a fad for a reason. so how about you stop being cynical whiney bitches and just comment how great the song is or how good neil young is. I just get very annoyed when people shit all over my generation.

  • many humans do not get the heaviness of this brilliant masterpiece-- contemporary rap and hip hop i am sorry folks out there who love it is not close to this stuff...

this is in another galaxy-- when melodies and lyrics went together-- and was so subtle and powerful a message it could pierce the entire universe!

  • I can't believe why the youth of today listen to Kesha and Bieber, when there is music like this. I'm fourteen, and I guess I'm the only one of my fuckin' school who likes this music.

  • @godspeedyou1996 good kid , feel blessed. Don't worry about the others , sometimes music looks for us ; I think this is one of those cases.

  • @godspeedyou1996 Im 14 also and its the samething with me and my friends at school.

  • @godspeedyou1996 ... when I was 15 I was feeling and wondering the same, I never thought people were stupid or less intelligent than I, just now as I'm nearly 40 I accepted the reality: they ARE stupid like shit, so they listen to music at the image of their brain and mind: empty and uni dimensional.

I still remember the first time I discovered Harvest... the feeling to have discovered a new Universe.

  • @godspeedyou1996 That's soo true!!! Soo true

  • @godspeedyou1996 You ahve one stupid fuckin school then. (no offence)

  • @SniperViper1000 Yeah, agreed ( ;

  • @godspeedyou1996 Music goes through phases... in 1971, this was the "new" music, Neil Young was like the young Justin Bieber... all these musicians will come and go, Bieber will have his time of fame just like Young did.

  • @Waffles341 Yeah except Beeber's time of fame won't last 40+ years like Neil Young's did. And Neil Young wasn't really a new artist at the time as he already had a handful of albums behind him and was on the verge of releasing one of the greatest, most influential albums of all time: Harvest.

  • @magtownrep What I am saying is... music, just like clothes go through fads. Back in the 60's people were digging things like folk or acid rock. The 70's is when the disco came in, the 80's was the electronic music... what I'm getting to is, this "crap" like Bieber, Lady Gaga for gods sake... will soon come to an end. Its just like people thinking the clothes they wear now will last forever... please, the people that wore the bell bottom jeans and corduroy suits thought that was cool :P

  • @Waffles341 Yeah, that's right, but I think that Bieber is a 'season-singer', he would be populair for 1 or 2 years, and then people will forget him. That's the awful part of the modern music, beside it has no soul, that people just forget it, while they liked it so much. I respect everyone's 'taste' for music, but I just can't imagine that people really like it. Anyways, you're right, musicans like Bieber, or Kesha come and go.

  • @godspeedyou1996 na, there there belive me, i am a neil fan, you got me buddy,, lol, smile

  • @godspeedyou1996 dont worry and please keep going on music that you love

  • @godspeedyou1996 I know right

  • @godspeedyou1996 i am 14 and im the only kid in skool who like this to

  • @godspeedyou1996 same happens here in spain, now im seventeen, but i´ve been listening this music since I was 11 more or less. Nowadays its so easy to become a superstar, these girls like lady gaga or kesha or whatever dont have any idea of singing or playing or compounding music, everything is made with the computers... NEIL YOUNG, MARK KNOPFLER, JOHNNY CASH, CROSBY STILLS NASH & YOUNG...all these groups are the BEST

  • @godspeedyou1996

im more impressed you kno godspeed you black emperor then neil young.

  • @ndrwcrbn Haha, nobody listen's it, but it's awsome. ( :

  • @godspeedyou1996

We are all here and now and forever one in God. Thank-you

  • @godspeedyou1996 Good for you kiddo. Never change!

  • @godspeedyou1996 That is the sweetest thing you could say, ever. Salute intelligence.

  • @godspeedyou1996 I feel you man, Im 17 and I can't stand todays music.

  • @godspeedyou1996 im 16 and i love this stuff! i also hate todays music. how do you feel about Kris Kristofferson?

  • @JoAqUiNBandit There is a lot of good music out there today. Music never dies. There are musicians today who are honest and dedicate their life to re-creating the purity of emotion and feeling in music. New Music that will change your life. Music that is is worth finding and deserves the same response this music got when it was alive.

  • @sambeatch ill give you there are bands that are STILL AROUND today that are good...such as Pearl Jam and Creed (even though Creed broke up, their music is still around) but any musician that starts today is horrible

  • @JoAqUiNBandit That is such a stupid statement it's unreal...

  • @Bigpineapple That very well may be, but I bet I can top it! "Alex Trebek makes your mother say 'moo'!"

  • @godspeedyou1996 lol their a few of us im 18, this is more of a art then just something to listen to. music that can take a feeling and capture it in a song is art. This bullshit with kesha is not music its pop shit for little kids to listen to. If anyone listens to that shit and their older then 17 or 18, their life is to easy and their still living off their deadbeat parents that never gave a shit about their kids in the first place.
