18" is a good depth in the deep part.I would normally have half the pond at 1' with the other half at 18" or 2' if a large pond. Toads and Great Crested Newts prefer a deeper pond over a shallow one.
The only thing we found when we drained the old pond was one frog but the pond was in a state. There will probably be frogs, newts and maybe toads about as the garden is fairly wild. All sorts of aquatic insects will fly in once spring arrives.
What depth should your average wildlife pond be?

Ya i fugured there would be a bunch of amphibians and insects.
Are uu gonna introduce any fish?
Ive always wanted a pond but it's a lot of work!

There are no plans for any fish as its a bit too shallow and there isn't a pump and filter to keep the water clear.

Ya i heard it's expensive to put pumps in

You could spend as much or as little as you want, but quality always costs more to buy but less to run and maintain.
