I been sittin here playing some of your videos, dude you are the man.I dig the hell out of the Ballad of Purvis Green for reasons I cant reveal.I also liked yer history leeson with the marchin song.Keep up the good work Hoppiejohn and hope to listen to some more.Gotta do some chores while the rain has stopped.I use to live in Haywood co.N.C.for some 12 yrs and finally came back to Fla a few yers ago.Love yer country up that way
@LTmattYT "Shuffle Rag". Best version on YT so far, ddking66's. There is a Big Bill Broonzy book out with tabs on this, but I got slightly different tabs at the AcousticPower website for free.
@MassimoAlberto I live in East Tennessee, in a mountainous area of the Southern Appalachians.
You're right Nationals are expensive. I had to save my money a long time to get mine, but notice that in this video I'm not playing a National. There are some low cost metal resonators that are pretty nice. I'm not the only one on youtube playing a [search;] "Republic Resolian guitar". They're made in China, about one-third the price of a National.
@MassimoAlberto $4300 does seem way out of bounds. I purchased 2 of them because I think they are good investments, and more enjoyable than a pocket full of Krugerrands. If you are really intent on purchasing a National guitar, you might try Elderly Instruments here in the states, google "elderly instruments"..
@hoopiejohn ..They discount to about 2/3 of suggested retail, and I'm sure they ship world-wide. Contact Raoul Mitt there - he really knows resonators, and I'll bet someone there even knows what import duties and procedures are for your country.
As far as the women of Tennessee go, they are beautiful, but they always treat me bad!
Pick one: 1) I wore this mask when I was a "luchador en México" 2) I suffer from von Recklinghausen disease. 3) I'm on probation. 4) To avoid creditors 5) I'm a hermit. 6) I have a sober and solemn profession in this small town, and the public might look askance at my videos. 7) I'm being sought by Nico "Chipper-Shredder" Bugatti. 8) I'm shy. 9) Recommended by the US Witness Protection Service. 10) Hiding from ex-wives. 11) I'm otherwise famous and don't want this to "get out".
Good tune! The mask, the setting, the dancing all create a certain atmosphere, but it is the spider climbing up the camera lens from 1:14 - 1:25 that really gives this video that...je nes sais quoi.
Hard day. Get to the hotel. Wishin' I was home in Texas playin my dobro. Type in Resoph...you come up. Made my day, bro. Not takin yourself seriously. BTW, I bought a tricone and a square neck fron Frank last week. Thanks for your video.
Hard choice. 3 vids for you: "How to select a Resonator guitar...KenniLee", and two other vids of Resolian being played (outdoors): "Blues Guitar Needin' Time..KenniLee" and "Railroad Bridge Blues..BottleneckJohn". It has projection and volume. I will add this: the Resolian has a flat fingerboard (I prefer for bottleneck), and the neck is a roundneck, like a half-baseball bat. I like my Resolian, don't know about tricones.
Keep my chainsaw and body parts in the gun safe behind me.
Cool thanks for those video links. Right now I'm settled on the copper-coat with steel cover Resolian. But I can only buy in December (hoping the new zealand $ holds out against the US!)
*sigh* the amount of times I've had to wait months for a guitar...
Suppose that I'm "famous", not nationally or worldwide, but well-known in a small town. Maybe a solemn position - funeral director, pastor, or high school teacher. I wouldn't want people to know I play stuff like "Whiskey Headed Man", or of the humor I post with my videos. I had to remain anonymous.
Since I play from standing position (like bluegrass guitarists), I couldn't keep my face off camera easily, like some do from a seated position.
This little guitar is very shiny. Sometimes when I move it certtain ways, it reflects light right straight back at the camera. My camera tries to help, by closing the aperture that lets light in, by dimming the background down.
My steel guitar gently weeps.

Lucky man...
You have good music, good whiskey and beautiful land.
I do not know the women of Tennessee .... :) know the "republican Guitar" but the only probem is the import taxes.
National guitar in Italy are too expensive i think € 4300 for the Style 0
I do not understand why, given that in the States costs $ 2500 ...
Ciao john

@hoopiejohn Ah ah ah .. the next trip that you do come here in my home in Italy, I live
near Venice, the Italian women cook well, are beautiful, just bring them out to dinner and they are happy ...
If you want to play, here is full of bars that love good music . Ok jokes aside
I know Ederly, my friend taught the history of painting in a college in new Jersey
He has all the catalogs, but you see how ships, taxes in Italy are very high. Also you do not ruby tool during the trip

Keep the guitar next to the gun safe huh! Good move!

Actually the gun safe contains no guns, only guitars. View "My Resophonic Guitar Collection" video to see what's inside.
I fired my last round, Aug 8th, 1967, and have fired upon neither man nor beast since.

Uh it might not be the National that's intimidating the ladies. The ski mask might be part of the problem.
Maybe you should try those glasses with the nose and mustache attached?
Oh and I dig the Resolian.
